- From "This One's Gonna Hurt You" 1992. This is the first 2 tracks, usually heard together on the radio, as the ending of the first track makes no sense that it ends like that. There is also a small addition to the end of the second track from the end of the CD which was an interesting effect they did when the CD was produced.
I love Marty Stuart, he's one of the best country musician still around.
About the only one living
I"'ll say it 100 times, THIS IS COUNTRY MUSIC!. I can relate to this. I've been through it. And I get drunk and listen to it. Haha
Your not alone brother or sister.
The Houston country stations I listened to back in the day always played both songs together. I never heard one without the other.
this man is so under rated....he is amazing.....he is why I started listening to country when I was 12....35 now and still love him!!
Same, I was obsessed with him at the same age, especially this song. Named my son Hank.
@@guitardave1461 he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves
This here, country music!
This is ONE BAD ASS SONG...‼‼‼ 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
Still love Marty's music better than all the country rap crap that they call country now a days...
I think about what Waylon said about that,
“I’m not real sure what that is but it sure as Hell ain’t country music”
Truth if it was ever told!!!
Playing this Christmas Eve early morning 2023
Can’t tell you how many times I’d listen to this in the dead of night when I was driving truck. I ran from Alaska throughout the lower 48 we would wear our tapes out. Damn love the sweet sound of music coming over the radio when you finally get far enough south.
i haven't heard this song on 17 years....damn awesome
Marty Stuart is one of most people friendly , average guys that's cares for music , cares for the average person , and the Real deal..the most average person does not know what a great musician he is..UNDERRATED..glad to have seen him 3 times..hope I can 3 more times..
This combo should be played more often on the radio. It's an 8 minute medley that fits well to any classic country playlist!
I always seem to gravitate to this when I am going through some tough times.
Seventy-years-old and still in awe of Marty. Hah, a 12-year-old kid on tour? Love ya Marty. So many great songs. Gotta admit that this is "high" on my list of favorite Marty's songs. God bless you Marty and thank you so very much for just being you.
I'm back. Hahaha I thought of this, back in the early 90's when all that Top 40, happy meal type of music started to be played on the country music stations as it is now, one day I was with my grandad driving around. Incidentally, this song came on the radio. Out of nowhere, after being quite for hours, he piped up and said, " Now this here a country song! ". Hahaha I just grinned and kept driving. Hahaha
Thanks for the comment, I didn't think 90s country was all that bad, lots of good stuff, AJ, Randy T, King George, etc. I think for me it jumped the shark with Big N Rich, "coming to your cit-tayy", 😞
One of the best country performers. He's a living legend, in my opinion.
This is a great medley that wells up emotions for me. It was a great time in country music history. I was born 1 year before Marty and my family was right in the middle of it. As a young boy in the 60's and early 70's, I didn't appreciate the historical significance of it all. That environment was 2 country music parks and a country store that had live performances on a stage in the back with a radio station that also broadcast live from 2 of those venues. My aunt, Ola Belle Reed, wrote "High on a Mountain ". It is personal for me because I transcribed it, as well as other originals of her songs, to sheet music using graph paper, a straight edge, and a drafting pencil. High on a Mountain was originally performed as a bluegrass and folk song. Marty"s country music version is my favorite Also the only one to sell over a million copies and receive a Gold record.
I played it so much, I de-magnetized this cassette.....
This was the one two punch i was looking for ❤
Best version ever!
I just played this with my mother and im 38 but as a boy we danced and it made her so happy 😎😎😎
I've played in a lot of cover bands over the years and this is the only song we ever received a standing ovation.
My favorite Marty Stuart song
I think I'll have this played at my funeral!
As good as anything I guess. When I Get Where I'm Going is another good choice. Or Prop Me Up Against The Jukebox, LOL
I don’t care what they play at my funeral, I just hope when I stand before god, he welcomes me into heaven….
Marty Stuart and Hank Williams is why I decided to be a country music songwriter 💝
Yes Yes Yes .. this is the sounds of the soul strolling on the clouds singing songs of the spirit!!
This is some hell raising kickass fast driving music when "high on the mountain"kicks in!
This is the best song ever....back when I first bought this tape, yes, I said tape....back before CD's, lol....I used to listen to this song over & over and over again.......used to be able to sing (and say) it from start to finish, but it's been quite a few years since I heard it and not so sure I can remember all the words....but give me time :) Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful piece of Marty history :)
+Dee Hayden me too Dee Hayden I bought a tape it was in 92-93 what a good time!!!
Dee Hayden still have that ..
Yeah I had the cassette too😅
Hey Brother, endless thanks for High On A Mountain Top and the rest of the videos you have shared with all of us. From dr bob in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Our Nations Capital City.
Marty ....is a class act
I used to work with his first cousin. The most true country, down to earth guy, just a really.good person, from really good people.
One of the many great songs of his
Musical genius! My spouse liked these two songs but told me he wanted High On A Mountain Top played at his funeral. I was too torn up to play it at his funeral but did so after the service. Just me, my memories & the song. Thanks for the posting & the lyrics.
Saw Marty, Travis, and Tanya Tucker in 93. Marty did most of this album along with " The Whiskey ain't workin" with Travis. Great show!
Me and my dad saw Alan Jackson in 94 at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center
Your awesome can play anything I have always been a big fan
Good old
Country song ever! & a ballad as well.
One of my favorites. Marty's take on Tex Ritter's Hillbilly Heaven.
Great cover, Great memories of when this came out I was Living HIGH on the Mountain...🎻🎶🎸 💪🇺🇸👍
will always love martys version..Should have won awards.Martys not hollwood, he is real
I didn't know there was a different version
This came out shortly after I went to work at a country radio station, and the way you put this together is the way we got it at the station. I just could not imagine it any other way, Thank You for memories of them their
days!
I hope youre listening babe, i am proud of you and i miss you ❤
One fine tune, truly. Thank you. ❤❤❤❤😢❤😊
Whenever I would put that on the tape, yes I used cassette tapes back in the day, I always followed this up with That's Country
Hey Mr. Marty, Hillbilly Heaven is way over crowded, as far as I can see, many left this world, way sooner than they should have. Live long and live strong, the very least you deserve, for sharing your love with us. Endless Thank You's.
If the good Lords willing & the creeks don't rise we'll see you in the morning.
2024 turn it up some more
Always enjoyed this
Such a damn good song that didn't get much air time. So hard to find now. Thank you very much DGillyy.
Ahhhhh - this long version song was on a CD sent to radio stations and was played on Thunder Country stations
Cool, can't wait for my kickback
Sooo good!
gotta love Marty!
Best Song Ever by Marty Stuart.
One of them. ;)
How many men have stood and felt this way? 😀
Real country
this is a really rockin' tune!!!
Many "country" stations in the West coast would only play the 2nd track (High on a mountain top) but never the first part. That was most likely because the first half of the song acknowledged the existance of Hank Williams
+renoguard2
That's because "High on a Mountain Top" was released as the album's 3rd single,
and it made the Country top-25.
What the hell does west coast have to with it? Stations skipped the intro because it was so long. I worked at one and we’d play both. The long version was frowned on only because of time.
▶️SIMPLE💝BUT PERFECT, I'M LOVIN' IT💝◀️
Song I play when I'm out COLLECTING!!!! 😎😎
Yeah I remember the first time I heard that part at the end of the CD, really floored me that the CD starts with a dream, then he says that "that's when I woke up"
You say on the vid you never heard Me & Hank & jumpin' jack without High on a mountain top following it...
Well me EITHER! And this is EXACTLY what I was looking for when I sought out this/these numbers.
Thank you so much for putting this video together!
Right, I may have heard High On A Mountaintop by itself though, but not the first one.
man the intro is awesome
Best thing on You Tube. Its A Damn Shame there are 13 people in this world with no Class.
DUCK336 I don't let it bother me. Ain't no accounting for taste. Why they even bothered watching it to begin with, that's what confuses me.
It took me forever to find this
Yeah, I heard this whole thang very 1st time it played on my car radio and I had ta pull over cause the DJ introed it as "the last song that Hank ever wrote..." being High on a Mountain Top. I bawled like a widow and do everytime I hear it even now and its 28 years later. I would want just High on a Mountain Top played at my funeral but I'm not having one. No I plan ta donate my body ta our Body Farm in Little Rock Arkansas where I was born. I do this for 2 reasons: 1st because I want to help victimed loved ones find their departed ones when they go missing for good and I'm just weak flesh with a strong spirit. Thank you for uploading this ta RUclips and God's Will in your life and those around you. IN JESUS' NAME AMEN
Greatness....nothing else need be said.
One ☝️ my favorites
I love this song Ive been looking for the CD for a long time and have never found it but its one of my Favorites reminds me of where I live "High on a Mountain Top" and I love the way you put it together that's the way I remember it on the cassette
Really great tune.
favorite country hillbilly rock song of all time...
I know this is a cover tune, but Marty made this his own . Their is always a risk in covering someone else's tune. It will either sound horrible or they'll make it their own. No two ways about it. Marty made this one his and more. Like my granddaddy used ta say " this here country music! ".
I didn't think this is a cover, who did this song first?
buddy i love this been looking for it on youtube for years !!!!!! thanks for uploading the whole thing. it's a very cool little melody............let's all walk that floor.......doggone it !!!!!!!
This was a great way of doing this, really entertaining. Been a Marty fan since this album back in 92 or so I believe... Great vid, thanks..
I'd never made the connection with the hillbilly heaven lyrics before. Thanks for pointing that out. Love the photos.
Wow. Just wow.
Just saw Marty Stuart and his fabulous superlatives last night along with Pure Prairie League and Steve Miller Band and he did not do these 2 songs or This One's Gonna Hurt You!! He did do The Whiskey Ain't Working Anymore!!! It was a great show!!
And that's when I woke up.
When you summon Hank Williams, you better have your affairs in order.
This is a jam!
at the end whole song Kick-Ass.
Man I have been looking for this song for a long time. I remember this from when I was just a little kid. I would listen to the radio in my room. I never thought I would find it.
High on some mountain crop..wind blowing free in the days that used to be
And I wonder if you ever think of me.....
@@DGillyy just stop by.. LMAO..I'm still strong to finnach cuz I smoke me spinnich..Im PipeEye the SailorMan..TootToot🤣
it has been a few years hearing it. Its been a while since i have heard from you as well stacy.
did the same thing you did dgillyy when i bought the cd when it came out.... and when that played at the end i about jumped out of my skin....lol it seemed to fit that part of the album we probably arnt the only ones that thought of it im sure
I love that
It's a SIN that commercials come on in the middle of this.
Thanks, I didn't know this was happening. I don't think I have a way to shut it off either.
I think Marty’s implication is that Hank gave him the whole album “and that’s when I woke up…”
That could well be, up to interpretation for sure.
damn id love to meet Hank
i need to find a copy of this great song by Marty please.
sheilah malcom It's on Marty's CD "This One's Gonna Hurt You". It should be easy enough to find.
Me and Eddie
Travis; This is the whole song. The song was track 2 and I put it together with track 1 first. So this is the entire track. Do you want only track 2 and that's it?
I love the song as well. havent heard it untill now
Done. Someone else already had it, but I edited out everything else and put it up too since you wanted me to, it was pretty easy to do.
live version
classic
Great tune here! I can see this video is trying to make the correlation between Marty Stuart as Johnnie Cash's Son because of the resemblance to Roseanne....... RIGHT! BTW Mountain Top starts @ 4:00 so click on 4:00 for that.... OK?.....!
He woke up at the end of "Me, Hank & Jumpin' Jack Flash".
Ah, no. The end of the first part, he says "right here is what he said before he closed that door". Then, High on a Mountain Top" plays. The end of High on a Mountain Top is the end of the dream.
yes, will you put up track 2 by itself? thanks for the whole kit 'n kaboodle... love it...
Would you have the whole song of - High On A MountainTop???
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
