He's been playing in Willie's band since the early 70's.

Right there on that stage. Legends all.
Can’t stop listening to 4 guys that ooze charisma and testosterone.
Oh ,, hell yes !
I listened ro these legends when i was in high school. No pyrotechnics, no autotune or lip synch. Anyone of them could take their guitar, sit on a stool and transfix an audience for as long as they wanted. But combined, they were a force of nature that will never be equalled .
We were blessed to have all these men on one stage.
And let’s give the harmonica player a huge applause!
And Reggie Young a Hügel Applause! Best Regards from Germany 💪

"New country" music is trash.
This is Country & Western, real music that represents America.
The harmonica player is called “Devil” reference the Willie song “The devil shivered in his sleeping bag” that’s him.
Jamey Johnson is the only artist that comes close to anything like this. Other than him I agree completely.
No Lasers, NO magic light show, no auto tune, just 4 talented friends putting on a legendary show
That's it. Simplicity! The best!!😍
Just pure class.

The greatest country line-up ever "The Highwaymen"
Maybe, but I'ed rather look at the Dixie Chicks 🙂
The voices, especially Willie's, so unique. Half of these are dead, Willie is 90 & Kris is 87. You can't beat a good country song.

Fully agree.
all of these guys are icons that will never be forgotten!!!!!!!!!!!!
So sad that nobody remembers Stevie Goodman who wrote probably the greatest American folk song ever. Will never forget.
The one where he was drunk the day his mom got out of prison? Lol
My favorite by David Alan Coe that Steve Goodman wrote. "I'll hang around as long as you will let me, and I never minded standing in the rain". (The "perfect country and western song"...but before I could pick her up in my pickup truck, she got runned over by a danged ole train...") And of course THE CITY of New Orleans. THE HIGHWAY MEN ARE THE BEST EVER!
I remember him..... I would like him to know that!
Lots of people remember him
Steve Goodman and John Prime wrote it together but Prine didn't take any of the writing credit.
It simply doesn’t get any better than Willie, Waylon, Johnny and Chris singing the classic City of New Orleans in 1990!
These guys were my go to guys. I always wanted to be part of the gang and hang out with them. 1 small note, Chris is spelt Kris. Waylon, a lot of ppl don't know, was the guy who gave up his seat on the airplane that snowy night "When the music died."
Amazing that Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans" was over 20 years of age by 1990! Classic will never die!
Went to willie nelson concert Birmingham Alabama 1976 pushing 64 now and Willie still the man
I so miss these guys! All superb!!
I feel like this is Willie performing at his best. His voice is perfect. Such passion and joy with Trigger in his hands. The whole group. These four men have influenced the entire world of Music. Giants among men who moved and taught with their voices and their guitars.

@@Sam-lj9vj I cry for the America that I grew up in and loved. It seems to have died
America was still America? Yes buddy those days are over now. Real power now in hands of China and Russia.
Back to the edge of a time when courageous men had carved a country out of a wilderness that covered a continent.
Then came those who were softened by having too much plenty of everything, with no need to struggle, or do a days hard work for it, educated way beyond their innate ability, concieted, entitled and thinking they knew best, sneering and condescending to the ones who farmed the land, the linemen ,the maintenance men who fixed things when they broke. They insulted and undermined the stay at home mums who were doing that most important job of all, raising their kids right. They were called liberals, the ones who fkd it up.
God bless you America and get well again soon.

Why can't today's country music be this good?
Because today songs are written to pander to whatever demographics some college weasel thinks will turn the biggest dollar.
Not to mention writing in as many product placement to maximize the money
It's out there. Check out local bands instead
JP. For the same reason these guys said to hell with Nashville. They refused to bow down to the music execs and their "cookie cutter" mentality. Same reason the movie industry can only put out super hero movies and nothing with any true substance.
It isn't country music, listen to Hank Williams Jr
Millennials? No more like big city millennials, they all care about worthless things but the ones from the country (not the suffering causing suburbs) do a lot of good.
It always makes me smile right at the beginning when Kris comes marching onto the stage just as the song begins! He's still connecting his guitar as Willie begins singing. I guess it is a simple example of how well they all got on and how comfortable they all felt with each other. As many, many others have said many, many times - how could any group of musicians ever be better than these four?
I noticed too that Kris was trailing in a little late! Ha!
The uilimate supergroup
Nobody can hold a candle to these fine gentlemen.
Good observation! I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. I re-watched it a few times and figured out that he was doing a guitar swap. For a split second right at the very beginning you can see Kris handing off a guitar to someone in the shadows and then he turns and picks up a second guitar from a stand on stage, which he then plays for the rest of the song.
Every time I watch The Highwaymen, I am impressed. I am impressed at the bunch of backing players and singers, all working together to make a big, full sound and all live. And I am particularly impressed that these four legends seem to happily share a stage, and far from fighting, seem to calm down and have fun because none of them has to carry the whole show like they each do when performing solo.
Rare to see superstars all setting egos aside and allowing everyone shine … All my favourites in one place!!! Brilliant!!
