  • Many people are used to calorie counting, restricting, fasting, and more when it comes to weight loss. On a healthy whole food plant-based diet, you don't need to do any of those things-in fact we do not recommend them. The main concept you need to understand is calorie density. Once you understand that, it will be smooth sailing and the pounds will shed right off!

    When I adopted a whole food, plant based, no added SOS diet in June 2021 I resolved that it was the natural evolution of my way of eating and “being” that was going to serve me the rest of my life. I focused on health, not weight loss and, voila, the weight loss came and came rapidly. I have dropped 5 pant sizes and feel and look better than I have for years. Eating this way must become a way of life to which you are dedicated because it works! The proof is in the results!

    Easy way to get variety of beans & grains:
    1.Cook up several types of beans (ie: pot each of black, kidney, white or garbanzo). Cool, combine into big bowl, portion into quart bags, freeze flat.
    2. Cook up pot each of grain type varieties (I use quinoa, farro, lentils, wild rice, barley), cool & combine. I season with garlic, onion, S&P, cumin & tumeric. Freeze flat in quart bags.
    I take one bag each of beans & grains out of freezer to use up in couple days. Add to salads, stir fry, soups, sandwiches, whatever.

I've been vegan for years, but once I lost my mobility, the weight gain happened so quickly I knew I had to do something. Yes, I exercise, but once I started eating plant based sos, the extra weight fell off effortlessly. Kettle chips!! I understand!!

    I binged for decades (and from childhood) before becoming WFPB 3 years ago, and the bingeing and cravings stopped almost immediately, I also keep my environment very "clean". I remember how desperate I was because of the bingeing, I was deeply depressed and suicidal. It affected all aspects of my life as I was ashamed to be seen and had no confidence, I also had terrible skin as a result of eating the wrong foods. I understand how distressing bingeing can be and how obsessive the cravings can be - I literally daydreamed about food and went to bed dreaming about food (usually sweet and fatty carbs), but I was never satisfied no matter how much I ate. I was afraid of eating a plain potato but I binged on croissants, doughnuts, processed pizza, etc. I would encourage anyone who's watching this video to please try this way of eating even though veganism may say extreme and restrictive at first, it is not, the only thing you will give up is your disordered eating and feelings that there's something wrong with you (there isn't).

    Enjoyed your plant rant, and your sensible recommendation that people also connect with their own doctors about their health. Your recipes are very tasty and the way you keep cooking nice food and keep on repeating these ideas has been very useful for me. The message is simple enough once we learn it and try it, but I find these constant reminders so helpful. I'm aware that frequent positive reminders are very useful indeed in sticking to new habits. Thanks for all that you do!

    So true about the drugs. Doctor told me I’d be on blood pressure meds the rest of my life. After 24 years, I changed to a WFPB SOFAS-free and then it all fell into place. I’ve lost 70lbs so far, AND I’m off of 3 of my 4 BP meds and I’m having to half the dose of my last one. I’ve also normalized my blood labs. It’s a win-win. I don’t miss the meat and fats.

    Hi Dillon and Reebs.Thank you for the motivating video. I like the way you promote the process rather than just focusing on the numbers. It's so easy to backslide when looking at weigh loss alone; my goal is to dedicate myself to the long-term health benefits of a WFPB lifestyle rather than obsess over the number on the scale. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but once these healthy habits are formed, they become the new norm and are a whole lot simpler. My husband and I have been vegan for fifteen years, however, we can and will do better with the help of your channel and healthful recipes. I've been struggling with some health issues lately and this was just what I needed for inspiration to take things to the next level. Thanks again!

    I love love eating this way. Yes I eat an oops food every now and then, but then I feel so sick, sluggish, and gross inside. Any kind of oil now makes me feel 🤢and extremely tired. Yes sometimes a little makes the food taste better but why not try spices or a sauce instead! Way lower in calories and way better for you too.
    I have MS and I can greatly tell the difference between eating a WFPB way of life vs eating junk food, oil, etc. Fatigue is a huge issue for me and vegetables literally make my world go round. Vegan junk food and whatnot will knock me out for the day or more as it's impossible to get any energy from them. I've even experienced fasting for a short period of time and then eating steamed gold potatoes and steamed non starchy veggies (for me it's Costco's bag of frozen broccoli, carrots, cauliflower) plus a sauce. It's amazing how big the difference is and I refuse to live any other way. Love me some golden potatoes and broccoli!!

    Ha! I can down a bag of Kettle chips in 10 minutes. Amateur. 🤣 I believe in WFPB and I know it works, but I still fall off the wagon and binge and gain the weight back. Just tired of the yo-yoing and wish I could find a solution for that.

    Lucky my binge food lately has been popcorn from a local maker. Unfortunately it has salt and coconut oil, but it could be way worse lol 😅

    I tried to explain to my kinfolks that if I eat a whole food plant base diet I have to eat more than people who eat Standard American Diet (SAD diet)

  • @jenniferharris-ux5vx

    I have been enjoying your videos the last couple of days while I research plant-based diets. I agree with your philosophy and food pyramid. Carbs have been made the bad guys. I don't think depravity triggers a binge though. I believe escapism and mental stress are responsible. I had a severe binge disorder in my teens and early twenties that resulted in anemia and malnutrition. It was simply loop thinking and compulsion. Overeating and binges are entirely separate. Binges are complete abandonment of control and are so pressing, so full of self-loathing and extremely dismissive of satiety and body cues. It's true that the removal of certain foods will delay a binge; but in my experience, it will occur nonetheless. I think it is psychological as opposed to physical. I have gone out in snow, sleet and rain to get a forbidden binge item.

    • @WellYourWorld
      @WellYourWorld  4 месяца назад

      Let’s agree that there is more than one thing that can lead to a binge habit. But when it comes to weight loss methods, the thing that leads to binging most often is restricting way too much. It’s built into our psychology.

    What if you eat lower calorie density foods, but they only fill you up for so long so you eat more because you need more and then you aren’t in a caloric deficit?

    • @WellYourWorld
      @WellYourWorld  7 месяцев назад

      Will be tough with very low calorie density foods. You’ll always be in deficit unless you’re eating 15-20 pounds of food a day.

      @ivan11h you're probably right where your body wants to be. Any leaner you will probably just have to get used to getting hungry. If you're not strength training and doing cardio then start.

      @ivan11h 9 месяцев назад

      @@mattzilla331 ok. So the question - if I get leaner by being hungry and doing strength and cardio for a while, will I be able to go back to my regular amount of starch when I loose the last 15 lbs and not gain it back to this current situation. I am 175 but I want ti be 160-165. I have some fat around my mid section I want to lean out of.

    Do you mean "deprivation" instead of "depravity?". Deprivation means depriving yourself. Depravity means... something different... 🧐

    The scientific world has just learned about insulin resistance in the last five years and now people just use the term like they know how to reverse metabolic diseases. I know many have learned a lot about it but it is extremely complex. I hope the vegan diet can reverse insulin resistance but there is still much to learn

    • @WellYourWorld
      @WellYourWorld  8 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t think it’s that complex for most people. Read Mastering Diabetes, Barbaro and Kambata, or Reversing Diabetes, Dr Neal Barnard. Hard perhaps but not terribly complex.
