- “Missing You” is a song co-written and recorded by English musician John Waite. It was released in June 1984 as the lead single from the album No Brakes. It peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the week of 22 September 1984, and number nine on the UK Singles Chart.
Original MTV personality Nina Blackwood said in the book VJ: The Unplugged Adventures of MTV’s First Wave that Waite had written the song about her. She later told the Tampa Bay Times that Waite confirmed this to her after the book’s publication.

Thanks for sharing... I was 16 when this song came out. I was listening to 95 ynf in Clearwater, FL (July 1984), and went straight to the record shop that evening to get the single... saw John Waite live in 2009... it was like a private show...awesome...

I think I could reasonably claim that this is one of THE greatest songs of the 80s; when you think about the embarrassment of riches from that time; In 1985 I was 14. There are so many young people now who really appreciate this stuff. Fair play to you.

This song used to tear me up because the lyrics are the story of the end of a 2 year love affair that ended in such a fucked up way that it's both me and my second-ex are singing it cause it's still not clear to me 45 years later who actually left whom. It's ironic that the lyrics say "I Ain't Missing You At All, Since You've Been Gone, Away." but yet everytime I think of my girlfriend, I always catch my breath and wait for the moment that I'm able to see her again. I think of her everytime I hear this song, I listened to this song with my earbuds on while on the way to get her from work tonight and after dinner at the Waffle House (What can I say, she loves the Waffle House) this song was playing the back half on the radio.
