Thank you cristendenny! Simply marvelous. As one writer and deep thinker to another: well done on that beautifully eloquent comment. It was as lovely a work as produced by one of the world's finest prose poets. Is there another place you have other such intuitive writings on Elvis? I'd love to read them!
@@ElvisistheMan_ thank you for the story of him . maybe you do a material of his favorite music. he said he loved footbal, down in the kitchen had many tv screen to wach sport. I read that he listen to Roy Orbison.. You know other musicians ? Ty!!
I have hear recordings of him saying,”I flunked music in school. The only class I ever flunked-music.” He sounded quite bitter and, as a former teacher, I ache for him-because that should never have happened.
I think after the Aloha concert his life started to unravel, with the divorce and health issues. He started to take much stronger and more damaging medication from this period onwards. He would have periods of absolute magic but they were interspersed with really low periods. After Aloha what was there to conquer while concentrating everything within the US. He needed a challenge, he needed a world tour or a dramatic acting role and this is where the Colonel really began to fail him. All that said for 38yo he is in reasonable shape when you look at the guys around him, lot of them were overweight and many smoked, so he is held to such a higher standard and really he should have just been allowed to chill out and start to really enjoy his fame with less commitments and choose better artistic endeavours. Everyone saw what was happening and yet they worked him like a mule.
Yeah by that time Elvis should’ve been able to take more time off and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Picking and choosing when he wanted to work. But, Parker ripped him off a lot and Elvis blew a lot of his money. Also, other than the Aloha special album, his records were not making him a lot of money at this time. So he had to tour.
It seems the " They worked him too hard" excuse makers ignore the fact that Elvis was in between engagements more than he was performing each year, the man had more time off than people acknowledge. In the last years He just used that time to further his drug addiction. rather than on healthy endeavors.
That would be a good subject to look into for a video discussion. He would only work about three weeks and then have a lot of time off usually. Need to work more at times but it always have two weeks to a month off. I mean look at physical athletes? Elvis only did two shows a day for 45 minutes at most! There’s only so many songs that he moved around to. I get pressure from being in front of a live audience but I think we exaggerate Elvis is exhaustion from just performing or being on the road. I think his major problem was pills. That’s what was affecting his health.
He still looks fantastic, even with those extra pounds, he's a stud. Also, thank god for fan footage! That was so cool! I didn't realise that's the last tour he wore capes. I never noticed 😅 Did he start wearing capes in 71 or 72? I can't remember #greatvideo 👌⚡️
Yeah he does look great. I think people were just comparing him to his peak, which Elvis said that it’s hard to live up to an image. He started wearing capes in 1971
He was such a lovely man! inside and out. It's heartbreaking to think what he must have been going through and so very sad that he couldn't find a way back from taking all those pills. RIP Elvis and know you are loved. 🌹♥️🕯️
Your channel is so great i am a big Elvis fan but your channel is far and away better than anything out there you are a super fan thanks i look forward to all your videos
Thank you, Dave. I thought it was so unlike Elvis (even a bit rude) to not respond to those reporters but mainly to ignore the fans and not sign any autographs. Your explanation puts things into perspective.
This is my hometown. You prounced the Kiehl’s Center (now Enterprise) correctly. For some reason it’s still easy to find out when people are flying into Lambert Field. So it doesn’t surprise me fans and KSDK News were able to find out when his plane was landing in the 70s. My neighbor was at his ‘73 and ‘76 concert. Of course the former being the better performance. She said ‘73 was amazing, but in ‘76 a fan rushed the stage causing Elvis to hit himself in the mouth with his microphone. You can hear it in the St. Louis/Spokane FTD. However, Elvis became good friends with Harry Carey when he was broadcasting for the Cardinals. Elvis was a fan of Caray. You should listen to Harry’s story about their first meeting. Pretty hilarious!
Elvis hitting his tooth with a microphone also happened in Las Vegas in the early seventies. A front tooth got chipped and Elvis had to go see a dentist after the show.
Being 52 years old and being an Elvis fan as long as I can remember, I have no illusion about Elvis' martial arts skill or lack thereof. I do know, however, that his movie fight scenes were always entertaining, and he did show some nice agility and speed. He did some decent kicks, throws, punches, etc.
Hi David, I watched more times this video and read the comments and I made this thoughts which I would like your opinion about, of course if you have time and feel it. By now, it's certain that Elvis was an addict, if it was for his fun, to cure all the pathologies he suffered, to continue to be Elvis, or whatever it was, for sure he was just like many others in those years especially in show-business, but while for "the others" we accept it and they rightfully continue to receive the respect and admiration they deserve, when it comes for Elvis everything is different. It's as if he was a kind of god, with no flaws, weaknesses, fears (just like all of us), he was perfect! Is as if for most of us (especially the oldest-age ones like me), find very difficult to accept and admit that he was an addict, like as if we admitting this weakness of him we feel guilty, we are betraying him and therefore we "feel the duty" to justify him (me first), as if we wouldn't do it, he might be less great, less genius, less wonderful and he didn't deserve the immense love and respect we feel for him. Well, is not the case at all! Recognizing his weaknesses makes him appear more human, even more worthy to receive love and respect by everyone! YES EXACTLY : IT MAKES HIM EVEN MORE A LEGEND THAT GROWS OVER TIME AND NEVER FORGOTTEN. Am I wrong? Hi from Italy and thanks for your work on Elvis.
You always find a way to downgrade Elvis. ie) Great haircut but I liked it better long or ) Most people gain weight in their 30's and 40's. Elvis always slurred his words as far back as I can recall (I'm 71) so in the late 50's. It's prevalent in his early songs and interviews. He was often teased about his southern drawl and stutter son, which made him human and an endearing,. As one who has suffered from Crohn's disease for 53 years, I can only imagine what kind of pain he endured from his twisted/impacted colon, which causes water retention, swelling and bloating. And then there was his "glaucoma". The eye pain can be severe, and may cause headaches, even nausea or vomiting. In an acute angle-closure glaucoma attack, the eye pressure rises rapidly, causing pain, and also causes the cornea to become cloudy, thus patients also notice their vision has decreased. Yet there he was with high watt bright white stage lights flooding him or in sunlight blinding him. A lot of his odd behavior was totally congruent with his medical issues. He looked like I do sometimes when I was on Prednisone, a steroid that bloats me up and messes with my head. Today we know what huge mineral and vitamin deficiencies chronic bowel issues cause. Doctors are trained by Big Pharma meds schools where they learn to camouflage symptoms with pills rather than actual health care or nutritional advice. Repeat business is their goal, not cures, And yet Elvis still managed to give countless, stellar performances. There's more...!
It’s not downgrading to tell important insights that are relevant to the info We’re talking about. I’m not gonna be like typical fans who sugarcoat the truth and try to pretend like this stuff didn’t really happen or explain it away in some theory. “Elvis is never responsible for anything and he’s a sweet little angel.” You have to be emotionally mature enough to see the flaws in people, except them for who they are. I’m not making any excuses for Elvis. I tell it like it is and I still think he’s the greatest of all time. Everybody has weaknesses, you and me. Elvis OVERDOSED THAT DAY. Accept it.
Yes, Elvis was indeed in excruciating pain at oftentimes and the meds caused more bloating. That's why he couldn't stop the meds, bc of the pain. It's altogether heartbreaking what Elvis endured both physically and emotionally here. Will always love him. ❤ 🥰⚡🎶🎤⚡🌹
@@ElvisistheMan_ those are some great observations. The best thing they did was getting him out of there. A lot of people complained about the recent Elvis movie not being accurate. Did they really want a movie showing the St Louis OD or maybe they’d have liked a few minutes of the movie devoted to his rants on stage in August/September 74. That would be accurate but not help his current reputations.
Yes he had a lot of health problems but some of the problems were likely caused by or at least aggravated by his pill intake. It’s also been documented by different insider sources that if Dr Nick refused him meds he would contact any one of a number of doctors who would gladly send him what he wanted.
Always enjoy hearing your take on everything Elvis. I felt the same as you as to why that guy kept pushing Elvis in the car. If he didn’t do that maybe Elvis would have been able to at least accept the flowers I think a fan was trying to give him.
Yeah he could’ve just said a few things to the fans I don’t think he was that messed up. Let’s not forget he did overdose today so I’m not out of line for assuming that could’ve been one of the possibilities. Think of those fans that were waiting there to say hi. At least he gave them and “all good” sign.
I don't see it as judging. I just see it as the realities of Elvis' life. We love him even his weaknesses. That's what made him so real and just like one of us.
@@rinigirl777I WAS RAISED THAT IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING NICE, DON'T SAY ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT ELVIS. A LOT OF US WILL DEFEND HIM.. IF YOU ONLY HAVE NEGATIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT HIM MAYBE WE SHOULD GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ON RUclips AND YOU WON'T GET NEGATIVE COMMENTS BACK.
I've heard other people on videos say the Elvis had someone come up to him and say something that sounded important that needed his attention and if Elvis wanted to continue talking with this person he would say it's okay it's fine and if he didn't want to talk or was ready to leave that person was always there to help him get out of it if you really stop and think about it I think it's a good way to get out of a conversation that you don't want to be in and everybody leaves happy I don't believe that Elvis would never intentionally hurt anyone's feelings but we're talking about Elvis Presley he couldn't talk to everybody that would have been impossible so it makes perfect sense that he had someone by his side at all times to get him out of a conversation

Sometimes for security reasons or other, to protect Elvis, there is someone appointed to move him along so it's not on Elvis to have to rush off from reporters and fans. Elvis was tired here and was in no shape to mingle, though usually he would mingle...
I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Nick. Although he might have given Elvis placebos from time to time, he had his reasons for keeping Elvis dependent on him. Elvis financed a medical building and a custom home for the feel-good doctor. I met Doctor Nick. When I shook hands with him, I made sure I got all my fingers back. I will never forget the last words he said to me before I stopped listening. "Young man, you have no idea what it was like, no one said no to Elvis". Maybe if a few of his friends would have, he might have been around a decade or two more. Thanks for bringing us the latest found footage, and keeping your information real...
That was smart of you to check! There are some that are willing to give Dr. Nick a pass, but I'm not really one of them. Maybe Dr. Nick should have said "No," as well. It's an unfortunate situation. It just seems that there was not a "collective" effort made to assist him. All these "one-off" conversations werent' going to do the trick. Me, I would have just kidnapped and put him on an island somewhere where he has access to nothing.😀

I don't care how much money a "friend" offered me to provide them with poison, I would not provide it, no matter how rich it would make me. Doctors take an oath to do no harm.
Why do you always pick him apart! Celebrate him for the amazing person he was! And, if two Karate Masters say Elvis earned his black belts, then he did!
I think that might have been Dick Grob? It looked like Joe Esposito met him at the bottom of the stairs and Dick was trying to shield him from the media and get him out of there, maybe because he was already struggling. But...Who knows.
Nice intelligent reaction as per usual. As a fan of many decades he actually was the original rags to riches story and typical to me of the archetype rock and roll star i.e. brilliant but flawed. As a digression the 1973 Stax Recordings are IMHO collectively some of the greatest recordings of his career, rich vocals with very few below average tracks
Yeah this was great footage put out from channel 5 here in st louis at Lambert airport...I was at that show on june 28...wearing the nail suit...or saturn suit as Graceland now calls it...I was 9 at the time..I have lots of photos from this show some amateur and some from sean shaver a known photographer...not sure where elvis was overweight at this show...he looked great...his voice was incredible...there is now great footage of this show out there and also an audio version..yes there were rumors of elvis overdosing that day but who know for sure...I wondered about if elvis was maybe asleep when he landed and a little droggy....idk..and the pic of elvis and jimmy at atlanta was taken on June 30 as he wore the nail suit again photographed by a friend of mine...all in all...I think that june tour of 73 should be mentioned because his voice was literally reaching for the ceiling...thanks for the great job that you do
I can't recall where I read this and I don't know if it's true, maybe you or other fans will know but I believe they used to wrap Elvis midrift in some sort of tight wrap before they would get him in his stage suit for the night. I believe this has something to do with why you might see Elvis before a show looking a little overweight but then not so on stage when he's performing.
Also, rumored lost control bodily functions, in later yrs,. headwear adult diapers,.. bcz of all th drugs. Forgot words, & ad libbed, Last concert tour , Jun 21-26, was a mess, tho the voice Never failed.
If you look at some of his performance in68,69,79,71,72 73....NO WAY HES WEARING A BULLET VEST EVEN. IN SOME OF THOSE SHOWS HIS JUMPSUIT IS UNBUTTONED WAY TO LOW FOR THAT.❤️
. . ✨ pretty sure the guy who urged EP to get in the car was instructed by EP to say that just to keep the press off of him. . I did hear someone shout to the driver: “TAKE OFF” and it sounded like EP himself saying it, could be he was exhausted and wanted to get to the hotel to rest, it did appear as if he was slower than usual exiting the stairs from the plane, like he was lumbering slowly down the stairs. . ✨
It appears like he's performing better than in the Aloha special. Not knocking Aloha but it never was a very energetic show to me. Especially comparing to Elvis on Tour. And of course TTWII.
@francisrobbins1499 Like I said, I'm not knocking Aloha at all. I enjoyed it too. I just feel it wasn't as electric as other concerts. I do agree that I think he might have been holding back a little so to speak.

As one writer and deep thinker to another: well done on that beautifully eloquent comment. It was as lovely a work as produced by one of the world's finest prose poets.
Is there another place you have other such intuitive writings on Elvis? I'd love to read them!
Thank you for this
@@ElvisistheMan_ thank you for the story of him . maybe you do a material of his favorite music. he said he loved footbal, down in the kitchen had many tv screen to wach sport. I read that he listen to Roy Orbison.. You know other musicians ? Ty!!
I have hear recordings of him saying,”I flunked music in school. The only class I ever flunked-music.” He sounded quite bitter and, as a former teacher, I ache for him-because that should never have happened.
@@joanedwards-de6pl maybe you're right, i can't remember every word Elvis would have said
Wow !!!!! What a (GORGEOUS) man as always
Inside & out , & very ❤ able too !!! 😊❤❤😊
I should’ve brought that up and I agree with you. Elvis had a ton of time off! Sometimes idle hands with plenty of money is not a good thing.
@@ElvisistheMan_ How long did a tour last? how many months did he have off in between tours in the last 5 years?
That would be a good subject to look into for a video discussion. He would only work about three weeks and then have a lot of time off usually. Need to work more at times but it always have two weeks to a month off. I mean look at physical athletes? Elvis only did two shows a day for 45 minutes at most! There’s only so many songs that he moved around to. I get pressure from being in front of a live audience but I think we exaggerate Elvis is exhaustion from just performing or being on the road. I think his major problem was pills. That’s what was affecting his health.
VERY cool footage & insight into E's life at this time !!
oh what a man he was he really was such a man.there will never be another ever
Fantástico The King. Saudades!! Elvis forever.thankil!❤❤❤😊
He started wearing capes in 1971
Это невероятно грустно - видеть как человек сам себя разрушает и никого нет рядом , чтобы остановить процесс саморазрушения

Great job love your Elvis videos
Great footage...I wish he would have gotten the help he needed so desperately.
Thank you, Dave.
I thought it was so unlike Elvis (even a bit rude) to not respond to those reporters but mainly to ignore the fans and not sign any autographs. Your explanation puts things into perspective.
He is the King!! He can wear what he wants!
Great video David! Thank you!!
What a magnificent man and still adored x thanks JR ❤
Wow I remember that story about Elvis hitting his tooth with a microphone. Thanks for your comment I’m glad I pronounce that correctly lol.
Love the new footage! Keep it coming. Thanks.
He was a beautiful man did so much for people.
First time seeing one of your videos; very balanced and tasteful presentation, good job!
Glad you finally saw one of them! Thanks!
the greatest of all time. i love him!
I was at that concert it was Great Show. Nobody had what he had.
Thank you for all your videos and insight. This is great footage.
Glad you liked it!
Nice to hear more about him. ❤
To be fair it was Elvis life.... regardless of what he did or did not do...he did it hes way.
Enjoyed video David as usual ty.
Thanks for the history I love it ❤
Hi David, I watched more times this video and read the comments and I made this thoughts which I would like your opinion about, of course if you have time and feel it.
Am I wrong? Hi from Italy and thanks for your work on Elvis.
eloquent, beautifully expressed, daniel! 💜💜👏👏
Lisa Marie was beautiful. R.I.P. Lisa.
Soooo beautiful
Thank you so much for sharing the video and information❤️
Totally disagree.
Wearing his Karate outfit on the plane is MUCH more comfortable anyways...Respects 👊👊
You too

The guy tapping him on the shoulder appears to be Sonny West one of his body gaurds
Can't see who is, but one quick glimpse, not look like Sonny, in 73 he had long hair,

Why do you always judge ELVIS, talk about all the GOOD HE DID IN HIS LIFE. HE WILL LIVE IN OUR HEARTS 💕 FOREVER !
You got that right!❤
I was thinking the same thing about the man telling him to get in the car he was very rude to Elvis I was Surprised at this also. I love Elvis and I love your channel Keep up the awesome work God Bless Much Love

@@Memow-pk1ng I am aware that he had a number of doctors that would sell their souls for money. I don't care how much money a "friend" offered me to provide them with poison, I would not provide it, no matter how rich it would make me. I am pretty sure that the guy patting Elvis on the back and ask him to get in the car, is Dick Grob, head of security

I think that might have been Dick Grob? It looked like Joe Esposito met him at the bottom of the stairs and Dick was trying to shield him from the media and get him out of there, maybe because he was already struggling. But...Who knows.
He did talk to fans at Prestwick airport, but that wasnt a concert
He gong know so ihope he is at peace🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice intelligent reaction as per usual. As a fan of many decades he actually was the original rags to riches story and typical to me of the archetype rock and roll star i.e. brilliant but flawed. As a digression the 1973 Stax Recordings are IMHO collectively some of the greatest recordings of his career, rich vocals with very few below average tracks
He truly was the classic American story. From poverty to the palace. Glad you liked the video 👍🏻
The older he got, the more handsome he was.
Yeah this was great footage put out from channel 5 here in st louis at Lambert airport...I was at that show on june 28...wearing the nail suit...or saturn suit as Graceland now calls it...I was 9 at the time..I have lots of photos from this show some amateur and some from sean shaver a known photographer...not sure where elvis was overweight at this show...he looked great...his voice was incredible...there is now great footage of this show out there and also an audio version..yes there were rumors of elvis overdosing that day but who know for sure...I wondered about if elvis was maybe asleep when he landed and a little droggy....idk..and the pic of elvis and jimmy at atlanta was taken on June 30 as he wore the nail suit again photographed by a friend of mine...all in all...I think that june tour of 73 should be mentioned because his voice was literally reaching for the ceiling...thanks for the great job that you do
Super footage
And the lows was the Divorce
Yes!
That might have been Dick Grob as he was head of security at that time for EP !!
He looked a little high....maybe they were trying to get him in the car so no one would notice.
I think so
I can't recall where I read this and I don't know if it's true, maybe you or other fans will know but I believe they used to wrap Elvis midrift in some sort of tight wrap before they would get him in his stage suit for the night.
IN SOME OF THOSE SHOWS
HIS JUMPSUIT IS UNBUTTONED WAY TO LOW FOR THAT.❤️
@@sheilapickral1840 I didn't mention a bulletproof vest!

. . ✨ pretty sure the guy who urged EP to get in the car was instructed by EP to say that just to keep the press off of him. . I did hear someone shout to the driver: “TAKE OFF” and it sounded like EP himself saying it, could be he was exhausted and wanted to get to the hotel to rest, it did appear as if he was slower than usual exiting the stairs from the plane, like he was lumbering slowly down the stairs. . ✨
Word spreads fast when you work at Lambert Airport. Those fans were mostly airport workers. Lol
It appears like he's performing better than in the Aloha special. Not knocking Aloha but it never was a very energetic show to me. Especially comparing to Elvis on Tour. And of course TTWII.
I agree. He was moving a lot! Probably his best tour of the year.
I think Elvis was on his best behaviour for Aloha,no messing about and improvising which I actually enjoy watching
@francisrobbins1499 Like I said, I'm not knocking Aloha at all. I enjoyed it too. I just feel it wasn't as electric as other concerts. I do agree that I think he might have been holding back a little so to speak.

On the Aloha special, he was just going through the motions. Like a friend told me, watching Elvis through a fogged window.
