As one of those Accounting people, my only suggestion would be to place a piece of paper in each quarter's envelope and log the receipt when you put it in the envelope. Then when the quarter is done you can total the receipts with out having to handle them again. A stitch in time..... Christina 🦝
Honesty, you need a quick dump spot for your receipt. As a teacher, get the struggle. Now that I substitute, I see receipts stuffed in teacher’s drawers all the time. When you get home from shopping, your primary purpose is to put away items. That receipt is an afterthought “ I need to keep this. I’ll deal with it later.” Yet, they are a necessary evil. An envelope has to be taken out, opened up, receipt folded and placed in, placed back in the drawer. Here are 2 suggestions. Try a beautifully decorated coffee can or pretty box with a good size hole in the top. You find your receipt, stuff it in the can and on your way. Schedule in your business day work to put receipts away once a month or quarter. You were just using the drawer as a “big can” anyway. Another way to tackle this is to use one of those pretty zipper bags you collect and put one in your purse and car. The goal would be to use your bag in your purse and put them away when you get them at the store (or when you get to the car). I would try all three at the same time and see which is more efficient for you. I used to use all 3 but I don’t use the can method anymore because my receipts have reduced. But it saved me so much time searching through my drawer for receipts. Thanks for all the great videos!
So good, I took notes! I took a break from working on my corporate sales tax reports....so those receipts were making me itch! :) THANKS FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS...they are always inspiring and motivating!
Hi thanks for sharing! A suggestion for all your slips, I was a personal assistant for many years and used to have a pretty wooden box with a lid that everyone knew to put their slips in there, when end of month came I would sort them and file. So it was practical but also nice to have a pretty box on display😊
Great job, Elisa! I look forward to seeing what more organizing you do. For our receipts (I log everything, not just business-type), we have a small clipboard in our kitchen. We can just clip them on that when we come home from shopping. When I get a chance, or when the clipboard gets too full, I can just carry it to the computer & enter everything into my bookkeeping software (I use one called Moneydance). I basically keep all financial-related records in there, and it even has a reminders feature for monthly bill paying, so I don't forget anything. If I need to keep a receipt for taxes, warranty, etc., I scan it into the computer with the flatbed scanner on my all-in-one printer, using a program called Filecenter. That program basically helped me set up a digital "file cabinet" on the computer, so I can categorize anything - receipts or documents, for instance - that I need to scan & file. Then I just shred the paper versions of what I've scanned. I keep 2 external hard drives for backup, one of which is in a fireproof lockbox (in the event the unthinkable happens), in case of a computer crash. Creates WAY less clutter of paper receipts & documents. If, in the future, I end up needing to have a paper copy of anything I have scanned, I can always print it, as it's saved as a pdf file. As the ink or toner on paper receipts can fade over time, scanning them is also a more reliable way to keep the information. Anyway, that's the method to my madness. LOL Thank you for sharing your organization strategies. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
I am not a naturally organized person, however, one thing I finally learned to do is first figure out what is working for now (like my stamp sets on one shelf, my wooden stamps in drawers, and my card stock in a file drawer). Once I decided that was working (I may change it one day) I felt so much better about myself because I didn’t fell like I had to totally change my room. I also planned card making time in between organizing time. I found that I spent more time trying to organize (which often left me frustrated) and no time crafting. Thanks for the great ideas today. I totally agree with you that doing it in small increments is helpful. I also realize that I don’t have the best shelving for a craft room but for now it will have to do. Bins are my buddy.😂
So glad to see you tackle the receipts problem!! That will keep clutter and anxiety to a minimum. Suggestion- each month check the envelope and secure all that month's together. It will make it easier to rectify at end of quarter. Great job so far! ⚾️
I did a clean up this fall and purged a bunch of stuff I don't use anymore. I donated everything to a women's shelter. I cant wait to see the rest of your creative storage ideas!
I keep a container for receipts on my dining room table and I hate when it piles up, but I guess that just means it’s time to “figure the checkbook”. 😂 I definitely have some areas to work on heading into the new year.
I like how you tackled one drawer at a time. When I first saw the Juicy Fruit tin, I didn't realize it was a tin. I was like, "Wow! That's one big pack of gum!" Lol
This has made me realize I really have too much stuff in too-small confines. Your messy and disorganized looks my tidy. Yikes. I feel like I need to hire an organizer consultant because after 2 years, I still have a too-crowded desk and very cluttered. I am able to clean off my desk but really the instant I want to create even a simple card, the place looks like an explosion went off. Seeing this video is like a roadmap to simplifying a space. I have a wall and 2 corners for my space, low ceiling and no closet. I look forward to watching more of these series to get more ideas to simplify and organize my craft supplies (mostly card making and multi-media plus some album making supplies). Stamps, dies, stencils, inks, papers, chipboard, stickers and all the bits and bobs to supplement! hahah Do we ever have enough? Geez oh pete.
I think a lot of us have too much stuff in our spaces. A new rule that I am trying in 2024 is "1 in, 4 out". For every 1 thing I want to bring into my space, 4 things have to go out. I am hoping that will really help me reconsider when bringing in new things and focus on using what I have.
My space, including my closet, is soooo out of control! And receipts are also a nightmare for me. I realize I need to tackle one portion at a time and also “let go” of items which is a hard one for me. Thanks for the inspirational video!💙💛🪴
Most of the planner-related things I actually use in my planner. The other projects like journals and memory books I tend to keep, but I don't keep everything in the end. For me, it is much more about the process, not just holding onto the ending product. I'll actually be cleaning out my sentimental projects in a few weeks!
I’m definitely inspired with your ideas to organize and declutter my craft room. Thank you!
I'm so glad!

Good tip!
I do this but log on the outside of the envelope!
What a helpful tip

SO glad you enjoyed the video!
I love watching you organize things and see what you have in your studio, especially the little stuff!
It is fun to get a peek at other people's spaces!

Watching you organize and hearing your process is definitely inspiring, thank you for continuing to share with us.
Glad it is inspiring you!

Sounds like you have a great system :)

Yes! Not making organization your full-time job and still enjoying your crafting hobby in between organizing bouts is so important!
This was very helpful. I have way too many “junk” drawers. Like you said there are many items that just don’t fit in any category.
Yes, it's true! But, it is always good to still try to gather those miscellaneous items in an organized way.
I love both of your desks. Such great finds. Thanks for sharing your organization ideas!
You are very welcome :)

Here's hoping I can keep up with it!

Purging excess stuff always feels SO good!
I keep a container for receipts on my dining room table and I hate when it piles up, but I guess that just means it’s time to “figure the checkbook”. 😂 I definitely have some areas to work on heading into the new year.
Yeah, the overwhelm of receipts is real!!!
Great job! I have been working on my room, little by little!
I feel like little by little is the way to go!
I have been working on my craft stuff for a few months now.
Nice!
8:28 I also buy post it notes all the time regardless of the collection of them I have!
Hehe, I think it goes back to being a kid and always wanting to use the post-its on the teacher's desk :)
Hahahaha-I have never met a post-it, notebook, pen, paper clip.......you name it! if It's an office supply I LOVE IT!!!
Addicted to all of them!
I like how you tackled one drawer at a time.

@@ScrappyWife just like we do with clothes but even more severe. Really good idea. That would definitely make me think thrice!

Yes, it can get quite overwhelming, so taking a bit at a time is the way to go!
Love your organization videos!
Thank you 😊
Rub soap over you drawer glides on your computer desk - it will really help.
Thanks for the tip!
Kind of a dumb question, but what do you do with all the things you make? Love your channel!

Wish my desk was that clean 😂
You can do it!
lol, I have never met a pen or a post it pad I didn’t like. 😂
hehe - same!
Where do you get those brown envelopes from for your receipts? Love those!
No idea...just had them laying around!
I LOVE your purple chair...💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Can you please tell me where you purchased it? Signed Purple at Heart
I think it is from Amazon - it was a gift :)
Thank you! 💜
I was cleaning my desk today and also determined I can never buy another post it note😂😂😂.
Haha, I am right there with you!
❤
Thanks for watching!
What is that turquoise thingy on the right hand side of your craft desk?
That is a nail polish holder from dollar tree. Many crafters use it to help manage scraps from weeding vinyl.
It is in the crafting section at Dollar Tree :)
When is the planning conference?
It is in April - You can google "Go Wild 2024" for more info!
Where did you get the wood tray on your craft desk?
Yes I love that tray!
That was a Home Goods find!
Nah. I’m in for the bigger organization videos not the little tidy-ups!
Awesome, I hope you find some videos that inspire you 👍🏻 Thanks for the positive comment 😉
You were already organized seems like you were just dusting. Not helpful for me.
Sorry to hear that
