Nice video! Thanks for sharing these great tips. I love that you intentionally limit your supplies. So often these craft room videos seem to be showing off how much stuff one collects rather than the actual projects. Thanks!
When’s the last time anyone bought an encyclopedia? I remember my mom buying the Funk & Wagnall’s a-z set in the early 70s from a salesman that would come to our door every week or month and sell each volume for $3.79! I was so happy, because I didn’t have to go to the library to look up information.
Thank you for some great organizing tips. You are so right about too much clutter in a craft space it detracts from the joy of creating. Enjoy growing your channel.
I loved your comment on the dictionary 😊 When I was younger I carried a dictionary with me everywhere! I’m an avid reader and was always looking up words that I didn’t know…. I learned more from my grandmother and my dictionary than anyone else in my life ❤
You're going to laugh, but the thing that I have never seen in any organizing video is your dowel to put your tape on so that it doesn't get lost in with taller stuff. What a great idea! Can't wait to do it once my new room gets set up. Thanks a lot! You have a great setup.
Oh! My! Goodness!!! I have been watching craft room makeovers and organization videos for a month and today I found you! I am mesmerized by your organization tips, your advice on not having so many items that they overwhelm you ( BEST TIP EVER!!!), your commitment to having your supplies organized in such a way that your family can also have access to them, and your desire to craft where they are rather than by yourself. I was thinking three things about you as I watched, and as the video progressed, they were all three correct! 1. You had to be a teacher. 2. You have had experience over years of finding out what does and doesn’t work and found work around to change what you were doing-like thinking the project envelopes were the answer to your scrap storage, and then finding that there were way too many steps involved, and you knew yourself well enough to know that would NOT work for you after all. 3. You are a woman of firm faith, and have a love for your family, AND you have arranged your crafting life to function in a way that allows you to be near them. I found so many “Ah Hah “ moments in your video. We moved out of our huge home of 25 years into a townhome a few years ago and I had a very large, organized, well-stocked craft room in our basement as well as an office on the main floor. I had to get rid of my card-making and stamping supplies because there just wasn’t enough space in the new home for me to have two rooms for myself. I have struggled lately because I’ve become interested in doing more crafting and am totally frustrated with not having the space for stuff. You helped me realize that my problem is being overwhelmed with so many supplies that I can’t organize them in the space I have. THANK YOU! As a retired elementary classroom teacher myself, I struggled with the same issue. But then I had tons of extra space in the larger home, so I never had to really solve that issue. I have been paralyzed trying to enjoy a hobby by having too much around me to actually to it. You helped me see that like sunshine coming through a cloud! There was also a small statue in your family room that let me confirm another thing we have in common. I smiled when I saw it and said to myself, “I just knew it.” We are truly connected. Thank you for the time and effort you took to make this video and teach me what I need to do to move forward. I’m recovering from foot surgery for the next few months and have a lot of thinking and planning time ahead of me. I’m through searching for my answer, thanks to you.
Your comments were such a blessing to me. You have assumed so many things correctly! I love it when I discover a kindred spirit and receive encouragement back from you. Good luck with your foot recovery and the fun new plans you are making to be able to do your hobbies in the space you have. Welcome to the channel and thanks so much for your kind, insightful comments.
I have watched so many organizing videos on RUclips and I have fallen in love with your videos. Most people have so much stuff it is overwhelming to watch. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing your other videos.
This is a valuable organizing videoing for paper crafters--and I should know because I've seen and tried quite a few. Love the first tip about reorganizing paper from horizontal to vertical.
I'm glad you set limits. When I have too much of something, I pass it on to another crafter. All my ribbon fits in one big jar. All my paints and brushes are in one bin. Tina, Al's wife
What a sweet lady you are! Thank you so much for your great tips and it’s nice to know that you don’t feel like that you have to continually collect “stuff” as a crafter. I have a second bedroom closet that I use but it also is storage for things like suitcases so I have to keep my craft things to a mimimum anyway. One does not have to keep buying the latest products, it’s overkill and expensive. One of the best and most practical videos that I have seen. Happy to subscribe. Cheers 🇳🇿😀
This has been the most helpful paper organization video I’ve seen! Most just state the obvious. You have really given me some practical, actionable advice. Thank you so much!
I just happened upon your channel and I’m glad I did!! Thank you for sharing your craft space and all of your organizing solutions. They are very creative! I too shop the dollar tree for many of my organizational items and it’s neat to see how others get creative and use their items.
I love how you have just enough supplies to be creative and not overwhelmed with choices. I have downsized my craft items and will be creating a new craft room soon. I desire to have a simple space for card making. TFS
Hi MaryLou! I just stumbled upon your channel as I was browsing for organizing ideas.I'm impressed! Love you no frills, simple approach. You gave a few ideas to declutter my craft area, Thank you!
Such amazing tips- the vertical paper storage is going to change my LIFE. You are so nice and I would love to craft with you in your beautiful room thanks for the videos🥹❤️
What a great, clear video with excellent ideas! I’m glad you bought up being overwhelmed by too many crafting supplies! I totally hear you, and I don’t have much in the way of paper for this reason. I’ve subscribed! Have a great week!
Reducing your supplies is such a great tip, and one that is not recommended often enough! After moving into a new home, I started trying to determine how to create systems in my garage studio. But, I decided to make art instead. 😁 Actually, this was in the same vein as your tip, as I decided that whatever I didn’t unbox after 3 months was probably not worth keeping. I’m well past 3 months now and, while I haven’t unboxed them, I can’t seem to make myself get rid of them all either! 🤪
Moving can really stir things up AND start us in new directions. It sounds like you've found a wonderful direction to go. It's okay to not let go of things too sometimes. 😊
I’m a newbie to your channel, Marylou. I’m so happy to hear you also get overwhelmed when you have too many supplies. I’ve been converting my study to a craft room (it’s been ongoing for about five years but I’m finally nearing the end), and I’ve been decluttering over this time too. I still have way too much patterned paper and stamps…oh and i just remembered too many embellishments too…but the rest is just about under control. I am so glad I have discovered you. I am learning from you😊
I immediately loved this video and I relate so much to you! Seriously, I feel like we're the same person! Starting from the feeling of overwhelm down to needing to have everything on hand. I had an epiphany about my paper collections and I'm so happy I watched your video! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤❤
Good morning, MaryLou. Great tips. I've saved so when I'm finishing my studio tour I can link back to any ideas from you that I want to share. Creative Blessings!
That stamp, die & card storage method is the Jennifer McGuire method that she came up with many, many years ago, which the majority of the crafting communities on all sites use, so you watch her RUclips craft room tour video if you haven’t already. Take care, 🎀 Lily 🎀
I enjoyed your video and appreciate your taking the time to share with us. You have some excellent solutions which I think I’m going to use after the major remodeling is done so I can start unpacking and setting up my room. I love ideas from people who have experience. Thank you!! I won’t have to change my paper from horizontal to vertical because you have figured out it’s much easier to see the paper. Your idea for scraps is great. My favorite is how you organized items on top of your desk!!! Best idea I’ve seen!! I like everything organized and neat but I want most used items out for easy use. I love the wood piece your father made!! I’m finding too many products are overwhelming for me also! It’s very easy to overbuy if not careful!! Thank you again for sharing your time and talent !! Blessings, Nancy Rolfe
Hi Mary Lou, I just discovered your channel. I have the IKEA Expedit units, and I wonder where you got the 12x12 organizer for your cardstock? It looks metal, but I couldn’t tell for sure. I look forward to watching your other videos also. Thank you, Chris in Spokane ❤️
The paper organizer is metal and it's from IKEA, but long ago. They may not have it any more. I recently saw something similar in Hobby Lobby. Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel.
I love your idea of storing paper vertically. I’m interested in getting the paper sorters that you have, it I can’t find them at ikea. Do you perhaps remember what they’re called? Thanks!
It has been two years since a bought them, so they may not have them any more. I have seen vertical paper storage at Hobby Lobby as well. Thank you for your comments.
This is one of the best craft organizing videos I’ve seen! I was wondering what the other pink tape dispenser is for on your desktop. It is a darker pink and looks like it is holding a wider tape. Thank you for sharing.
Could you please come and help me organize/clean/set up my craft room? 😬 I’m really struggling to really get started because I can’t decide how I want to organize & group my crafts. I’ll think I’ve figured out what I’m going to do but then I change my mind/have doubts. Your video(s) hopefully will help me get started. Thanks for sharing 😊
I hear you and I've been there too. Figuring out where and how can certainly be daunting. Remember, nothing is set in stone and once you get started it's less difficult than you thought. Start with something fun that you just want to get your hands on and, most importantly, give yourself some grace. Good luck! 🌞
Yea I've tried a lot of things that just don't work still trying to find a good system for my clear stamps. I did find a good system for my scraps I use jumbo pencil boxes
Most cards I make end up at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. It's called an A2 size. I'm not sure why it's called that, but it fits into a regular invitation size envelope. Thanks for your question. I'll try to remember to give dimensions in my videos.
Also in this video, you have a Dollar Tree small crate that you said you had a video on how to make. I have looked for it and can't find it. Can you direct me to the correct video, please? Thank you!
It's the Craftroom Clean Up and Desk Organization video. ruclips.net/video/DKjsjU_LJW8/видео.html Start around the 5 minute mark for the desk caddy items.
Here is a link: amzn.to/3TyKBW2 Thank you for your question. I had forgotten to add those to the list of supplies in the description. I have fixed that now. Thanks for watching.
Can I tell you that I love reading the dictionary as well !!! I love finding new words (new to me) and discovering their meaning and use. Weird heh...?! 😁👍🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
I love that you say, keep your supplies manageable. Usually the message is buy, buy, buy.

It's nice to hear from fellow dictionary readers. 😊 Thanks for watching.
I am going to look for a large box to corral all my little boxes on my desk.
Thanks for the tip😊
