So you're saying I'd have 2 customers at least here. hahaha
Yes you do

I've purged my craft supplies 2xs now. 1st time about 5 years ago. Mostly because my son moved and i took over his room. Been paper crafting for 30 years. As i was moving my things into my new room, i noticed i had a lot of duplicates. Mostly because i didn't have a specific space. Or and certain things i kept trying to find products that worked for me. I had 10 paper trimmers. Boxes of glues and tape. As i purged, i opened packaging. I noticed if something is in its packaging, i don't use it. I also opened jars of liquid, gel and pastes. A good amount of them were unusable. Dried up or moldy. Yes moldy. Ink pads i checked every one to see if they are still good. Lucky, i have a local non profit craft thrift store. Usable duplicates and things i forgot i had, got donated. I am a paper hoarder. Especially pattern paper. I rarely use them. I donated a lot of them too. After that 1st purge i had a place for everything. And labeled. Over the last 5 years i have gained a lot more products. I have a habit of trying everything new. I don't do that anymore. Last Christmas, we decided we want to downsize and move. Husband retired. I started a slow purge. Not to overwhelm myself. I have sold, donated and tossed out a ton of stuff. Still working at it. I even gave myself a buying freeze. Unless i need something, not just want, i am not buying anything new. My , "I got to try new techniques" problem has been tested. But, i held strong. I'm very glad i did. I don't need new hobbies. And saved a lot of money. As i donated things, i actually felt horrible that i spent all that money for things i never used. I know that other people will get to use those things i donated. And that store gets to continue to promote creativity. And purging is liberating. I've been purging all of our rooms. Used the same mindset for everything.
Good for you for purging, it feels SOOOOO good when I do. I have another one in me for sure. Thanks so much for sharing all this
Crafters are the most organized hoarders ever! I had sooo much stuff. I finally purged so much of it. Pastes that are hard, paints I don’t use as I have new favourites, pieces I have said “ oh I have an idea for that!” , but then never use! Purging is the only way to be able to breath again. Any club or school can use these things if they are working well. :) Great video, I have watched it twice. Lol
wow, thanks so much for this! And I agree completely. I'm so grateful I got real and got rid of stuff
I am working on trying to organize my craft room as we speak. I have ADHD so it is a major struggle. So thank you for breaking down why you do what you do and how you find it makes things easier. All the options on how to organize are overwhelming and when I get overwhelmed I avoid it. I also realize that I need to purge a lot of things that I no longer use. Thank you again.
I’m with you!! Seems like it was so much harder after I turned 60!! When I was younger my ADHD served me well as I could move as fast and as much as my mind. Although I’d start one project and have 10 going before long I could finish everything. My body just doesn’t do what it used to and I seem to never finish anything and overwhelmed at all times…..uggggggg
I wish there was something that would help now
I'm with you and hear you!! My trick - set a timer for 5 mins, and just do one drawer, or shelf, or messy area I've been putting off. do not be tempted after the 5 mins to do more!!! next day try 10 mins [you'll feel up for it as you did so much in 5 mins yesterday and that dopamine hit? YESS!] that said, be kind to yourself too, if you can't, then dont - there's no rules around this. It's a hobby and should be fun.
You are most welcome. Seriously consider coming to the Summit on the 21st through the 23rd. There are 26 different presentations on this topic alone and it's free if you don't want to get the Ultimate Bundle. Here is the link to consider it. I can't wait to learn more. marypolancodesigns--papercraftersgetorganized.thrivecart.com/earlybird-ultimate-organization-bundle/63cc340fbbb9f/
Great tips, Mary. Once again I am purging. If I'm not using it there is no reason to keep it. Anytime I can get rid of a bin is always good. Your slide-out die storage is genius! What a super way to keep them close, but not take up a lot of space. Hooray for your husband for coming up with this! Thank you for sharing and take care.
You inspired me for sure! i love that die storage, he's a genius!
Yes! to your #1 tip!! PURGE!!! I learned I can not organize clutter and if it isn't being used... it's clutter. See you at the summit!
YESSS indeed! That's me too. I have to just face it. See you there! can't wait
perfect timing... applies to any room
Thank you for this! I agree!!
I just got rid of 20 old dried up ink pads because of this video! Made so much room for other stuff!
Omgoodness that's amazing! Yesssss!
Your space is so beautiful and organized for accessibility as well as fot the esthetic qualities of all your items. I have been trying to move since 2021, so have packed bins and boxes to the point I don't even know what I have. Plus things not yet packed. I won't purge until I have a house to call home. The wasband has our $$, 12.5 years without divorce. In any case, thanks for listening. ❤️🥰❤️
I think waiting on the purge is a good thing. I hope you move in soon. It's hard being in limbo.
I'm in the same boat /limbo - trying to move. No longer know where things are or what was donated/is gone!
I packed away most everything in a storage unit "6" years ago. Finally bought the new house 2 years ago, but have not moved into it yet. People don't even ask me anymore if we have moved. I think they wonder if we will ever move. Health problems contribute to the slowness of the move, but a lot of it is that I am just overwhelmed. I can't get to any of my supplies and have no way of knowing where anything is or what I have. Just want you to know that you are not alone. Hope we will both be able to solve our moving problems and get to have fun again. God bless!
Great tips Mary. Thankfully I am already doing most of them, apart from the first one. I do find it hard to get rid of things that "I might use someday". But I have just started to realise that it's alright to like pretty things and to have them around me, and not just make them to give away, so my craft space (which is very small) is becoming beautified and a lovely space to work in. (Apart from the piles of scraps that I have to the side, that I want to use up , but haven't gotten around to it yet). I really do need to follow rule number one!
I think it's the hardest one for all of us honestly. I struggle so much but I also know how good I feel when I have less stuff and only things I'll use. I wish you the best on that endeavor. You can do it! lol
DANG, MARY!! Your video is SOOOO C L E A R & CRISP!! Love it!!
Oh thank you so much that's awesome feedback. I used my phone for this one and loved it
I just discovered your channel. We moved 2 years ago and I did a BIG, HUGE, ENORMOUS, purge. Unfortunately I now design and material prep for our card ministry at church and now I'm starting over and learning new things.
Welcome aboard! I hope you find useful tips here. Thanks for being here. :)
Two things I have found, work for me: 1) store stuff so that I can actually SEE it (e.g. NOT the box like you have for your pastes but a flat tray), put the colour on the lid, too. 2) if you do buy / have more than one of a kind (may make sense for those of us in the EU: stock up to save on p&p /customs duties for stuff that you can just get i. The US), keep one going (visible, easy access) and have a separate area for extra stock. I do agree with your other tips - easy access, purging, a place for everything made my crafting so much more fun! Looking forward to another summit - bought the paid ticket for the first time (using your link :) ) for the first time, hope it will worth it for me. Thank you for your amazing content, as always, Mary, kind regards from Germany, Nicola
These are amazing tips thank you so so much!
Thank you for all your great tips. I appreciate you taking the time to do this!
My pleasure! YAY thanks
Thanks Mary, love your tip on keeping like things together. Starting to declutter my space :)
YAY! A good declutter feels amazing! I always feel better afterward
Another Tip…STOP SHOPPING until after you’ve purged and given all your things homes, that way you will know for sure what you have, need or want. It’s a good way to avoid duplicates or to find out that you are either lacking or have enough of a particular product. All time, money, and space savers.
PS…I love organizing as well…cleaning…not so much lol.
I agree!! Stop buying everything cuz you will never use it all. Stick to 1-2 types of crafts and stick to it! You don't need to buy every single thing!!
YES stop buying until. great tip!
Great tip!!!
I liked this , trying to use what I have first before buying more stuff
Yes indeed! I love that!
Great tips Mary, I am also very organized!! I have to keep everything neat and in place!! ❤
So true!
Great tips!!! Mary!! I have started doing just what you talked about!! I gave away quite a bit a while ago and it seems so good to have more room now!!
I have a few emptry drawers....WHAAAT? lol
Woo Hoo I’ve just ordered my ultimate pass. This was great for me as I’m in the UK so being able to have access anytime is essential especially as I’ll be asleep when most of you on and 24 hours is not enough time to catch all the amazing info from you all. I can’t wait ❤
Yay!. So glad you're joining. This will be so much fun
Mary thank you so much for all of your wonderful ideas. I appreciate all your time and effort. Off I go to begin my organization process.
You are so welcome! Thank you for this super encouraging comment.
I have been purging my scrapbook paper and I'm planning on donated it to my local Care Center! I am also donating some imbelishments that I don't use any more. Feels good to get rid of the stuff!
Thanks for the tips and ideas!
That's so awesome thank you so much for sharing this!
Thank you so much for this video. Sooo needed😬

My pleasure thank you so much!
great video I use Finnaba liquid color fluid medium to soften paste and other hardened meduims
Thanks for sharing! That's a great tip!!!
I'm so excited I need the organization I'm moving my studio from upstairs to the basement! Our handicapped daughter is now going to take the three bedrooms into one! Construction starts in June! This will be good for me!
I'm so grateful it found you because I know I still need more ideas. YAY!
Love your enthusiasm! Always great tips!
Thank you so much for this; that's so helpful to hear.
Looking forward to the summit. On tip #7, I bought a shelf at a thrift store that's perfect for my sprays. Seeing all the colors inspires me to use them more often.
I love this so much! It really dies help me use stuff too!
Great video with a lot of encouragement for those of us who struggle with getting rid of things! I LOVE how you displayed some personal items that are important to you to decorate your space, especially the painting!! :)
Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! 😊 Thought you'd like that hahaha I LOVE IT!!!
Neat ideas! I’m going to the summit. Light & Fluffy modeling paste by TCW is my fave! Toss it this way! lol (Glad you turned the music off as you got into the tips - it was a bit hard to hear you with it playing.)
I'm glad I turned it off too, thanks for the feedback. I sometimes think it's too quiet but it's better that way.
Crafters are the best. I will check Joggles for the large craft mat. Your reply came through on email.
@@marypolancodesigns youtube doesn’t differentiate between entertainment versus information, and just says to include music to get more followers. That’s nonsensical since there are so many different categories of videos. If I go to a local stamp shop for a workshop, music isn’t playing while the instructor is speaking. So many people have echoed how listening to a video while at the same time trying to tune out the music is difficult, but don’t speak up. Anyway, we’re here to hear YOU! ☀️ Mostly if music is playing while there’s talking, I stop watching. I don’t think people tend to leave an instructional or informative video if there is no music, so to me it’s a no-brainer. But obviously there are different opinions since we’re not all the same. Sheesh, that’s a lot of babble. 😳
If you make cards in one or two standard sizes, pre-cutting card blanks and layers might make sense. As someone who's made cards in a variety of sizes and shapes from 4-bar to 8" x 8", I generally avoid cutting down cardstock and paper. Yes, this means multiple storage places for various sizes, but it means I can find the size I need fairly easily and have it on hand when the need arises. Many of my large sheets are irreplaceable, so running out to the store isn't an option for that and SO many other reasons.
I do actually have my 5.5" x 8.5" pieces in one spot and 4.25" x 5.5" pieces together as well, as they're a natural byproduct of making A2 cards (and I do make plenty of those). I look at those first when that's the size I need.
Really great points here, Candy. Thank you so much for taking the time to share them!
Question on the coming event do you have to watch it all day for 2 days once you pay? I'm very excited but I'm a caregiver and get interruptions! It looks like a ton of FUN! thanks to all you wonderful ladies who put it together!
No, if you get the Ultimate Bundle, you have lifetime access to everything. You can come back whenever you have time! i hope that helps answer this. if not, send me an email marypolancodesigns@gmail.com
I'm currently working on trying to organize my supplies, I have my furniture organized the way I want them in my craft room/office! I have signed up for the summit and can't wait for all of the great tips!
YAY! me too so many awesome ideas and just a weekend full of crafty goodness!
Purging is so hard! But I did get rid of a few things lol. Side note where is your guillotine paper trimmer from? The bar that you set for quick cutting would make things a lot easier
I knew I'd get that question haha that is actually a stock video from Canva. I don't have thay trimmer but isn't it cool??
Great organizing tips.
Thank you so so much!
Great tips, Mary! Can you please link the rectangular storage with lid that you use for separating “to be used” supplies? TIA!
I got that from Dollar Tree in the $5 section so I don't have a link. I'm so sorry!
Great organizing tips Mary 🥰 I love your tips and your craft room ❤️ thanks for sharing and happy crafting Hugs xx Happy Easter 🐣
Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you for the hookable cups link. I've been looking for just that type of item! I don't see a link for the bins you store your markers in, the clear ones with the hinged lids. Any chance you could add it? Thanks, Mary, I find you extremely helpful, and you have a great sense of humor!💜
You are most welcome. Yes here it is.amzn.to/40sjVtK
@Mary Polanco Thank you, again!💜
TIP: if you want to try a new skill/technique, don't invest in everything or the most expensive iteration. I wanted to try alcohol markets because everyone raves -- bought 2 sets of 3 (I think Nuvo?), a red set and green set. Used them twice. I'm just not a colorist. But I don't have an expensive set of 64 to store or feel guilty about. Same with water colors. I REALLY want a set of iiule (?) Glitter paints but they're expensive. I bought a set of middle-of-the-road watercolors, brushes, and paper. If I improve my skill of lettering, I'll treat myself to iiule. This also applies to other things -- started an exercise routine last fall. Told myself if I'm still doing it 6 months later, THEN I'll by the workout gear. Looking for a summer workout outfit now 😀
This is AMAZING advice! Yes! Thank you so much for taking the time to share
Thank you I love your videos
You are so welcome! That is so kind of you thank you so much!
I love the organizing part too
It's so fun!
I love my stuff organized and contained but visible also. I always put the stuff back when I finish a project. I bought a labeler, but haven't labeled yet. I do need to purge as I have too much I am not using as life gets in the way and I forget about it. I do gift some on card exchanges.
Oh I forgot labeling, I think that's next. lol I love to label
my room changes, so I stopped creating permanent labels. I now use Scotch magic tape with black Sharpie [I fold one end over 1/8" to make a tab for future removal]...
Awesome can you open your gray tall ikea Alex. I have one and have challenge in how to put stuff in it
I'll add it to my next video, yes! I moved it in the room but will still show you how I organize them. :)
I just need someone I would listen to, to come and help me lol! I need a reasonable voice that is a crafter and actually knows what a craft room needs and uses. Everyone that makes suggestions to be is just...get rid of it. Just throw it away. I get so frustrated because they don't use the items the same, and they just flippantly say .. oh it's garbage! When it's a brand new unopened pack of.. "whatever". I just get so frustrated. But I keep trying lol
WOW such a great point. it would be helpful to have someone ask the RIGHT questions when trying to purge. I might do a video on that! Thank you for the inspiration.
@Mary Polanco Awe thanks so much! It's fun when you inspire me all the time!🥰
A professional organizer asks those questions - but you have to pay by the hour...
Upgraded and can’t wait to get some great tips.
YAY! So excited about it. Thanks for joining us.
Great Bret tips. I’ve already joined.
Wooohooo...so glad you'll be there!
Alway enjoy your videos, thank you!
Glad you like them! That is so great to hear.
Signed up for the Summit - I need it!
YAY! Can't wait; I'm also doing a live so that should be super fun
Another great video Mary! I am trying to re-organize my craft space, which has involved a lot of purging and moving things. I'm primarily a card-maker and scrapbooker but I also do some other things with my Silhouette (machine, heat press etc). A question for you about your pre-cut cardstock drawer- other than card bases, what size do you have your CS cut down to? In the video it sort of looked like it might be 6x6, but I wasn't sure. I tend to keep my white cs cut to 5.5 x 4.25, and then 5.5x8.5 for my foiling machine. Still deciding if I want to cut my colored cs to matting size or just the quarter sheet (I'm an SU demo so I have a LOT of cs). Thanks for the tips Mary!
My A2 size cards are 5.5"x4.25" and my slimlines are cut down to 3.5"x8 i believe. Thanks so much for your sweet encouragement. It means so much to me.
Thanks for the helpful tips. Your room is great. Awhile back you recommended a source for a large craft mat like the rolled up tan one Ranger has but much bigger. I have looked for that video but have not found it. I've also searched online with no luck. If you remember who has that item I would love the information. Thanks much.
Actually Ranger sells that by the foot! I used to have a 5’ piece that covered my entire table top.
I tried to find that video for you again too, I do have a "Money Savings Playlist" that might be helpful you can find here: ruclips.net/p/PLTW8EpqgEF3h0KWlylsP6r_7iLHYbGdKd
But if i recall that was from the kitchen section, and they were grill mats. Much cheaper and did the same thing.
@@AimeeFleck Thanks so much Aimee. I just ordered my first Gel plate supplies and need a large protective surface. I remembered Mary's suggestion.
@@marypolancodesigns Thanks so much Mary for the fast reply and your money saving tips.
7 Tips to Help you Organize Your Craft Space
1. Declutter. 😱
2. Keep Stuff Close/easily reachable.
3. Have a Home for Everything
4. Keep Like Items Together
5. Keep a Temp File/use or purge
6. Pre-Cut Cardstock
7. Use Products as Decor
Great tips!
Camera movement at the end was WAAAAY too much for my vertigo. Started jumping forward (skipping some footage) too late. 🤢 😔
Thanks for the summary! You're the best!
Thank you B U N C H E S !! I'm more willing to spend the time if I can find the info I NEED!
Where did you get the envelopes and the long white drawer divider in your precut card stock drawer. Thank you
Hi Melvina, great questions; Here you go:

Slimline Envelopes: shrsl.com/3zx5o
Mary, these are all dead on, but I don’t even know where to start. I live alone, my lvg rm, dinning rm table and my craft room are all out of control. It boggles my mind. I love dies and card stock, have so so much of it. The bins with scraps, patterned, solid, speciality papers is a real eye sore in my dinning room. I don’t have the patience to sit for hrs sorting thru scraps and dies, and card stock, and then there are stamps and tools, I don’t have any creative mojo because of all of this. Been de stashing items with my local group of gals, it helps. Anyway, I need to borrow you. Lol Tfs. Help!
Start with small parts. Take one of those scrap bins and plop on the couch and watch tv while you sort ❤
@@AimeeFleck Aimee, I’m going to give it my best shot, miss having room in my home for entertaining. No one has been over in 5 yrs, dinning room table, it’s a huge wooden oven pine table too, living rm currently has my desk in the middle of the lvg rm, want it in front off my big window, but my 2 cats occupy that space to watch the squirrels and birds that I feed. Thank you for replying back.
@@Taitcreates639 Aw I wish I could help you ❤️
This can be very overwhelming. Try grabbing just one bin and pull it in front of the TV while you're watching something you like. Combining a "chore" with something more pleasant might help. Don't look at your craft space as an all at once thing, just small chunks. Eventually it all adds up and you'll get through it all. I hope that helps a little.
Hahah I didn't even read this before I wrote mine. GREAT MINDS
Purge? I’m starting with baby steps . . .😊
Haha...good call. Thats off the deep end for some
Thank you Mary! I have signed up for the classes and bought the ultimate because I may not be around for all of the classes . Am I right in thinking that with the bought ticket, I have access to all of the crafters ??
Yes that was a good call. You'll have lifetime access to them and there are SOOOO many extras it's just crazy!
I'm inthe middleofpurging my craft stash some will go to afriends neighbours children and some to a friends daughter love tohave a tidy craftroom but lifegetsin theway so neverreally tidy but i will get the room less cluttered.
I hear that, totally can relate! love it
Glad I'm not the only one
what is the unit on your desk that houses the pens? the one with drawers. Thank you,
Oh yes, it's this one: amzn.to/40sjVtK
I love tip #1 ❤. I love to purge
I'm getting better at it for sure. I just want to declutter my life
New subscriber here. Why? Because of that pug on the shelf in the background.
Hahahah oh we shall be fast friends. Pug moms for life! Lol
What sort of magnet did you use on those slide outs?
Hi! This is what I used: amzn.to/3DZO5M0
Tip # 1 …. NOPE! I can’t part with ittttt!!!!!
Lol, jk. But I wouldn’t mind getting ideas on where to donate my old cardmaking supplies. I spent a lot of money on them, so I feel bad donating them to a random Goodwill where they might not find a good home. I’d like them to be used and appreciated 🙃
I feel that way too!
Do you have a scrap exchange? It’s a place where people donate their craft supplies, etc.
I wish you would rethink that, because a lot of us can’t afford to buy much new, and we rely on thrift stores to help us obtain supplies. I am THRILLED when I find crafty goodies, because I rarely find them in my small town.😢
I can't part either
I like to destash my stuff and I raise money for something with it. but FB marketplace might get your some extra cash for your stuff. You get some spending money, they get it for super cheap.
But I might use it lol
10 years goes by....buuuut what if???haha
T4s
My pleasure!
🥰
No way
Again, NO, I’m not purging anything… it’s MINE, whether I use it or not, I want it all…. FSS is real y’all! 😂😂😂
Hahahha...I know, did you see my face when I had to let it go.
