      Hi Simon...Altenew sent me a tutorial on how to store ink pads and they said up to evenly have ink. I store mine mostly down. So, storing yours organized as you do does the ink go more to gravity side or no different in your opinion. Thnx! Great storage ideas!!

      @@juliesmith3857 I’m not Simon, but this year I managed to find a few Scrapbook sized D-Ring binders at thrift stores and have begun to put my 12” x 12” ‘s into page protectors and into the scrapbooks. I’ll be putting the cool colors of card stock into a navy binder, and warm colors into a burgundy binder. I’m debating with myself whether to keep the patterned paper in its own binder or intermix them with whichever card stock color is most dominant in the pattern. Their own binder, so far, is winning out, as patterned paper, almost by definition, is a combination of lots of colors. Anyway, that’s my plan for now, for the larger sized cardstock. Most of my 8 1/5” x 11” stock are neutrals, and were gifted to me in a box that seems, to date, to be maintaining a nice, soldier-smart, upright stance, so I’ll keep them where they are. Hope this helped some!

    I’ve been card making n journaling for 25 yrs. I have changed my storage many times over the years. I took a large picture frame and bought rolls of magnetic sheeting. Hung the frame behind my craft room door. I store all my basic shaped nesting dies on it- circles, squares, rectangle, hearts, etc. I do really like my Tim Holtz tins for mini ink pads, Distress oxide pads, sprays, crayons, alcoh 0:08 ol inks, etc. they can get costly but I wait until I have 40-50% off coupons to use. I found a clear plastic case meant for beads at Michaels that I use to store my domed or flat blending pads that I use on Distress inks n Oxides. I am able to label on the lid what ink the pad is for. I find that very handy!! My problem is I have memento mini inks and ColorBox inks in one unit, TH oxide inks in another unit, TH mini distress inks in an old designer bag (meant for 4 tin units) hanging on my pegboard, and a tiered unit for ink pads on another unit that has standard inks from miscellaneous brands of inks. I really would like all my inks in one area rather than all over the room. Just not sure how I’m going to do it.

    Hi Simon, thank you for your tips. I am in a downsizing situation, whereby I have had a fairly substantial craft room, but now have to plan for the next 12 months when I expect to become a full time carer for my elderly parents and am re-thinking my craft room to adapt to a smaller size.
    Hence, efficient storage, and because I like to go on two-three day retreats or simple craft dates, mobile options are my current focus. The last thing I want, as a 58 year old looking at retirement as well, is to have all my wonderful tools and materials in boxes I can't see, be inspired by or work easily with.
    Thank you for your wonderful research and thoughts, they are helping me put some ideas together. Bless xxx

      We two may be looking for similar craft storage / portability options, with your crafting outings, and my total lack of a crafting space. This last week I received my order of an ArtBin Tote Express. I had SUCH high hopes, but unfortunately, for me, ArtBin chose to make the TOP section the larger of the two, which wouldn’t allow me to put the scrapbooks I store my 12” x 12” cardstock into the BOTTOM section. So, back it goes! Another product I’ve been looking at is what shows up on y. t. & A’zon as “professional makeup train trolley” (etc. etc. … ). Sadly, that product, too, just isn’t deep enough for me, but you might check out either of these for your outings. (🤷🏼‍♀️. Unfortunately, neither of these allow you to see your stashed items.). Good luck, Crafting Friend, and be well! (Do remember to take care of Yourself as well!)

    Thanks so much for your great ideas and tips! My collections of stamps and dies is pretty big now, despite regular purging! I photocopy each new product and place that into a page protector in 3 ring binders that are divided into about a dozen categories. Then I put the actual product into zip pouches from the office store that will hold numerous products, and are labeled with a number. That number also goes on the photocopied sheet. A bit time consuming at the outset, but it is fabulous for quickly finding choices from my stash! Also has kept me from buying duplicates because I can quickly pull out a binder to see things vs thumbing through bins. Love how you have blenders with your most used inks!! Must try that! Thanks Simon !!🧑🏼‍🎨🤗😀

    Just a note about the acrylic riser for the pastes. You can also mount the steps the other direction so that the opening faces the bottom and you're sitting the jars on the flat surface of the step. I find this configuration to be easier and smoother for me, but it can be used either way. Whatever works for you.

    Simon, a suggestion for your stencil packaging is to turn the card upside down. The lip will protect the bottom of the stencils from bending/poking through the wrapper. Then, you still have the full package, and the back instructions/idea suggestion. All you have to do is flip it over to look at it, but the packaging will remain intact. You may need to add a little sticker dot or double-sided tape to adhere the top of the lip to the interior of the wrapper to keep it in place, without fumbling to get the stencils between it and the backer. It does require opening the taped end, but only once. It works really well and saves you from having to deconstruct the packaging. You're almost to 500k subs!!! Keep going, doll!

    Well, I guess I have just a few more envelopes than you. Whoa. You know, colored, kraft, A2, A6, UK A6; 5x7; 1/2 sheet, oh my. Actually I have a bin and 1/2 on my rolling cart. However, I'm rarely without an envelope I need. LOL It is helpful to have everything where you know where it is and at hand. I don't have enough units to always store things out of sight so I tend to use zippered binders and/or covered bins. (Sometimes it's a while before I return to certain stamp/die/stencils sets and I'm literally allergic to dust.) Of course, I finally inventoried most everything which means I don't have to sort though the products, just the program, to find out where something is located. Game changer for me and rarely do I buy duplicates anymore. I like seeing how you organize your products and look forward to more insights and tips.

    Loved all this info Simon! Thank you! I’ve always been told to store ink pads flat……… do you have a problem with storing yours vertical? Does the ink settle at the bottom?

    • @simon.hurley
      @simon.hurley  Год назад +3

      My ink pads are fine to store on their sides. Definitely check with the manufacturer if you are using a different brand. But, you can tip any of these organizers on their side so the inks are sitting flat too. :)

    Simon, what is the brand of drawers or cabinet that you use under your desk to store by our stamps & dies? I always had a difficult time finding drawers that are deep enough in height.

      Too expensive for me. I buy from Amazon, Marietta Magnetics. 25 each 5" x 7" sheets for ~$29 - Note: these are the heavier 30mil not 20mil sheets! They are not as flimsy as the vent covers. I still store them in plastic bags.

    My craft room is a disaster. I have three severely autistic children so I can never find time to organize it. With that said I recently purchased the Gemini hot foil press. I cannot figure out what to put the foil in so that they don’t rip. Half the time I end up destroying the packaging it comes in because my patience is shot. Since the foil papers are on the top of my mess, can you suggest a way to organize and store them? You are always an inspiration so thank you.

      Well that makes me feel a better to not be the only one! I have to start my Christmas cards in June to have them done by December 24th. Do I have one made yet? Nope. Did I buy a ton of new supplies this year? Way to many! If I were a RUclipsr, I could make a video each week of the supplies I bought but will probably never use!

      I have flat packs of foil. I store them in a file folder which sits in a rack designed for pot lids. It could go in a file cabinet or file box too.
