      I hope you read my msg soon.... anyways im fairly new at garage band but i can understand pretty much alot of it . im having trouble with the guitar and bass when im recording everything sounds great. but as soon as i export the track to the desktop to listen to the final result the guitar. only sounds on the right stereo and the bass on the left. i have checked a million tutorials and no one speaks about my problem. i have panned them before i export their both properoly on the middle but nothing it keeps doing that when i finnish record and its incredibly frustrating i think i put like 48 hours of recording to then hear everything wrong...

    I’m a simple person and, I am not terribly technologically endowed.. I own Ableton Live and find it confusing, frustrating and beyond my grasp sometimes.. So I acquired an I pad and learned Garageband there and have been successful in creating over 300 tracks. And since then I have a SoundCloud account and now have people who follow me and my music.. Next.. I purchased an MacBook Air and have to relearn Garageband all over in a more technical and difficult format. I’m not a wizard but... why can’t it it be as simple on the MacBook Air??

    So many instructions start with complex stuff, yet I am finding difficulty in finding a tutorial to do the basics, that being, a straight 4/4 rock beat, add some guitar and bass, and a vocal or two. Is there a simple tutorial available. I hear "select a beat from the many provided", problem is, yes, I would love to do so, but where are these beats and how do I select them?, etc., without being instructed on complex effects, input/outputs, all other info that I may need down the line, but right now, I want a simple little recording.

    Thank-you for your video and guide! If I want to record my violin practice, and I have a Focusrite and XLR mic, in GarageBand, selected Empty Project, then Audio Track Type = Mic, Create. In the (mic) Library, which Settings do you feel would be the best for recording a violin? I tried Voice - Bright Vocal, but I'm not sure if that's the best selection. Thanks for any info!

    Hi Patrick, I know this post is a year or so old, but hoping you can answer this?
    I’ve been following Pete Johns for the past 6 months or so and have managed to learn GarageBand on my iPad thanks to his awesome videos.
    I have recently bought a MacBook Pro and am thinking to myself why not use GarageBand with the Mac right?
    The learning curve here looks so much more involved, but will this give me better audio quality than what I currently get once I get my head around it?
    Cheers I
    Gerard

    Would still love to see how to share projects with other musicians. Dropbox cannot keep the tracks separate (only sharing single MP4-like files) and Apple seems to not allow access to any of your files uploaded to the iCloud. Another strange thing is that my 2018 iPad's GarageBand interface looks quite different than your iMac version. Makes comparisons a bit tricky. Thanks Patrick.

    • @DominusOminous
      @DominusOminous 5 лет назад +3

      Vance, the Mac OS version is a more sophisticated program than the iOS version with a Mac interface, but that's not to say iPad Garageband stifles potential enjoyment for a lifetime of creative output. If that's what you've got it'll be a long time if ever before you push its envelope . Hours and hours of creative fun ahead for you sir.

Quick question for you, lately when recording vocals using my Microphone AT 2035 into my Focusrite 2i2 interface I'm getting alot of echo in my voice. Hi there - thanks for the helpful video. After spending the last several months recording on my old iPhone's GarageBand, I decided to take the leap to my MacBook...but something has been driving me crazy! For some reason, the first note that I play isn't being recognized in playback?!?! I've tried to Google a solution. Although I've seen threads from other people with the same problem, the only suggestions have been variations of "you're probably playing the note before the first beat of the measure...shift that note over a bit". Is this a glitch in the app? Or a setting that I haven't changed? Thx
