I moved here from Charles short intro to GarageBand, which I found too fast for a true newbe, and find this extended version to be clearer and very helpful. If music production doesn’t work for you Charles, you should teach meditation. You have a very soothing, calm voice and manner. Thanks for the excellent tutorial.
You are an exceptional teacher - I have learnt so much. Others talk too fast and do not explain what they are doing. Everything is very clear. - I have subscribed and hope to see more from you. And I have listened to your music - well done.
Thanks John. Really appreciate the kind words. If you’re looking for more GarageBand tutorials i just released a large full scale course for free on RUclips yesterday. It’s on my channel.
@charles, thank you so much for this video. I've looked for good Garageband tutorials but never found a channel that just pulls me in so well. GReat explanations, great vibe!
You released this a day before I purchased my first Mac (after being a life-long PC/Windows user), so great timing :-). This is awesome content, and well presented! Thanks.
Charles. You are truly a gifted teacher. Thank you for explaining everything you do and why you do it. Making sense of the whys and wherefores makes all the difference. Thank you.
Charles - Thank you so much for this. This covers so much more than the userguide or so many other attempts at intros to Garageband. I echo the comments about "teach meditation" if music production doesn't turn out. lol Your calming way of teaching is truly golden. Best wishes for success. Well done!
Hi just wanna say thank you for this video. Through out my teen years people didn’t want to help me out or push my music so I finally decided to record my own music and I’m starting to use garage band so this video helped !
I just wanted to reach out on this video and publicly praise you for this piece. Already have you subscribed. Around 3-4 months ago I discovered I could make music on my phone and computer. But I was confused on many of the features of this free program on Mac/IOS, GarageBand. As of last week, I have now produced, monetized, and released 2 House Music songs. Continuing to "work" on new stuff everyday. I'm not expecting anything and just seeing how this goes. But I don't believe I have ever been happier. Your video came across my feed again. I just wanted to say that it was a part of that jumping off point. You did some real good here for others I'm sure as well. Now getting back to "work." lol. Again, thank you.
Great tutorial. Will be watching this one again and again and taking notes. Loving Garage Band. This app is a far cry from the cubase program I learnt 30 years ago. Tech moves quick :)
I'm LITERALLY new to this and have everything I need to start recording. I'm confused first off, LOL! My first question is, once you start a new project (for the very first time), how do you upload beats to garage band so you can sing to that beat? I need step by step for that, so I can get started.
@@danielleburks4436 Hey Danielle, sure thing, no problem. Are your beats in audio files? You can drag them into your GB session and it will automatically add the tracks for you. Are you also using logic or just GB? This video could be interesting for you, it's in logic but a lot of the stuff is transferable to GB: ruclips.net/video/aV_hMPWEG2s/видео.html
@@CharlesCleyn Hi Charles, thanks for your response. I thought you were using GB. I do have logic but never even attempted to utilize it, im still trying to learn GB. My beats are saved in a folder on my Windows 10 desktop. Im going to email them to myself and save them on my iMAC. Will that work?
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS SUPER HELPFUL VIDEO!!!! The way you explained is easy to understand and did help me to learn how to use Garageband quickly! Again, thank you so much for this wonderful video. =)
Thanks for this tutorial. I'm learning how to play the piano and was struggling with counting 8th notes while playing with the metronome on. Then youtube suggested this video and I realized I still had a 6 year old MacBook Pro that was mostly collecting dust. Hooked it up to my digital piano, re-installed GarageBand, added a drummer backing track and now I can even play those pesky 8th notes without getting off beat. And scale practices no longer sound boring either. So thank you so much for this video!
So far it is being really good, really helpful, good to follow and fun to do!!!!!!! Thank you so much!! Now... I go and continue to complete this tutorial!!
Thank you for this wonderful introduction. I love hearing your very clear voice, which make it, as I'm a non native speaker, very understandable. I already viewed a lot of other RUclips tutorials with GB introduction, but not only one was so detailed and easy to follow as yours. So thank you very much for all your efforts and I will of course watch your other videos as well and thumbs up and abo is a must :-)
Thank you sooooo much Charles, you are a natural teacher and phenomenal presenter...This layout is organized so well that a complete novice (referring to myself), doesn't feel nearly as intimidated as one might without your help, thank you VERY much! Interestingly enough, my daughter and her partner helped my wife and I to record on their computer (in GarageBand), a song for part of our family living abroad. My wife and I sing, with accompaniment on an acoustic guitar as well, thats it presently. Sooo, instead of starting with a blank slate, so to speak, we now have this very simple song (uploaded and on my computer), with hopes of completing it in time for Christmas. Would you have any comment to make for someone like ourselves, who is starting out with this much as a foundation to build around? Thank you for considering our situation. -Peter Pelchen, Kalispell ,Montana
Hi Peter, thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate that.I's recommend looking into the Garageband Drummer tracks if you're looking to have some accompaniment on the drums or if not you could look at adding a Garageband bass track or some strings to help fill out your sound. I do have another video coming next week on Garageband but I'm not sure if it will be ready in time for you before Christmas.
