    This was amazing to watch!
I actually prefer Dexter’s version. He really captured the emotions, while Nathan created a banger, but also a version that is something you would expect.
Dexter’s version illustrates the wonderful surprise of the unexpected. His lack of experience has his mind completely open to sound. He has no expectations at all and therefore has created something quite unique. His lack of experience on this track is his friend.

I agree that while Nathan's piece was so accurate and polished and pleasing to hear that style by itself is becoming a cliche if it maybe so called so. Though, probably Nathan's has done a great job within the industry "standards". Dexter's interpretation is beautiful and different but it needs a lot of Nathan's experience to make it sound great. Thumbs up for both and thanks for bringing this "competition" up. It is teaching a lot as well.

Dexter had some beautiful ideas regarding texture and timbre; he’s got more or less an artistic concept behind it all, which brings a lot of soul
Nathan, while going for a more steady production philosophy and perhaps a little detached from it, showed however an absurdly well done mix

Great job Dexter! Keep at it! Having spent some time on this journey myself, I'd say that what this clearly illustrates (GB vs Logic notwithstanding) is that as you develop experience with producing, one thing that changes is the depth of the production - the number of instruments/harmonic ideas and percussive elements. "Overproduced" is a real thing of course, so the other experience is how to carve out space for elements and knowing when to stop. Great video!

I didn't hear Nathan saying he felt significantly limited by Garageband for this use case. More like he worked with what was available and was able to produce something semi-pro sounding rather than something too limited to be viable. Conclusion, one's experience and skill comes first before transitioning to the ultra-professional gear. Have always appreciated Apple's generous gift of Garageband as a very capable entry point to music composition.

As a rookie producer myself, I thought both were Amazing for different reasons. One had a edgy almost ready to explode vibe. The other a more polished pop vibe. I got what Nathan was saying about Dexters track and taking to the next level, but seriously had huge amounts of potential and his creativity was off the chart!! Can’t wait to see Dexter exploding onto the music scene 😀 I’m assuming due to the talent and work Nathan did on his track he’s pretty much there and if not, he should be 😜.
Well done guys, such a brilliant video!

I really love Dexter's version - largely BECAUSE he doesn't use drums - it's akin to an acoustic version and the simplicity and minor key vibe draws me in - I would wholeheartedly agree that adding drums for the NEXT part of the song, the unwritten second verse, would be amazing to step it up. It's like he understands that it's a short song, like a short film, where you can't do everything you'd do in a longer song/feature film, so you create a snapshot of potential for a bigger production. Both are fantastic though and I'd love to hear a full version of the song

Hats of to you Dexter. I can't even seem to get a 40 second production out yet (keep getting stuck with getting the timing right and drums) and you did a great job.
