- I found a cover of Ohne Dich by Tarja Turunen. I wanted to do a mix of the two songs and make it sound like it was some sort of collaboration, I am not an expert on Audition or anything but I think I did a good job using the basic skills I have in audio/video editing, I hope you enjoy it.
I wanted to bring Tarja voice a little more but her singing style is very hard to combine with Rammsten because she likes to do a lot of voice adorns, messing up the tones and tempos lol. Subscribe to my channel.

Is Tarja singing in german? Tarja's vowels are not clear to me
You were not wrong. It gets pretty good by the end. Not that the original is any bad. ;)
@Metal Ground when I first heard Tarja sing this I was like no Till Lindermann duet.
I didn’t even realise Tarja could speak German until I read that she did some studying of the classical music training variety in Germany sometime in I believe 2003.

@@Eva_H yeah of course it wasn't my intention to be pretentious about it or anything I tried to find a better mix but I don't think anyone was taken the time to mix the two, and I don't know if they will ever come up with the duet idea. So at least this gives you a hint on how they will sound together.

Hi Metal Ground, how are you? I think it was a Good ideia trying to mix these two versions of this wonderful song, even if it is a difficult task...
I think one of the better things to fully appreciate Tarja Turunen's style of interpretation of a song is to understand that apart from Classical music and heavy metal, Tarja grew up with admiration for Soul and Jazz singers, she actually expressed already in many interviews the huge impact that soul singers like Whitney Houston always had on her...
I find myself being a great lover of Jazz and Soul music, and when you listen to Live performances by Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, or Whitney Houston, you know that these singers almost never perform their songs Live in the same way they did in the studio... The Live performances were always seen as a way of creativity and liberation from the more polished studio productions, so it is very common to find alternative vocal arrangements with extra adorns, with tempo changes... The objective was much more to experiment new possibilities for the same songs rather than reproduce something that had already been done before in the studio... And many many times I feel that the message of the song actually came much more emotional Live, even if not that polished, when compared to the studio version... The fact that Tarja came from a classical backround when it comes to a technical point of view even turns these things much more interesting, because classical singing does give space for some personal ornamentation (for exemple in opera arias like "Ardon gli incensi" of Lucia, and most of the belcanto reportoire for sopranos, especially the mad scenes), however these "freedoms" in classical music have to be very well agreed and rehearsed with the conductor, while in Soul and Jazz there can be improvisation Live...
I find it impressive how Tarja, as the years went by and she tryied to adapt better and better her vocals to Rock and Metal song structures, has been founding more and more space for experimentation with her voice, and with the songs themselves, and I find her style to be always evolving when it comes to Rock/Metal, BUT if you watch her Classical concerts, you trully understand that she can still sing by the book, with all the Classical music requirements (more rigid tempos, etc etc..). So Its just to apreciate her Art while she still has that amazing voice (we all know that voices also mature with age, gaining new colours and tones).
I'm sorry for the long comment, but as I read your discription, I felt like I could share a valid point of view about the subject (I'm posting jazz and soul standards by Nat King Cole and Whitney H. almost since RUclips started to exist, lol! I'll leave her a link for a Live performance by Whitney where you can listen very well to those arrangement and tempo improvisations while compared to the studio version, you can also listen to other Live performances of the same song and none will sound exactly the same... Hi Frank thanks for your message, I agree with you, some live performances are more interesting and carry more energy than studio. Sometimes I even wish they revisit old songs and make them as they perform them live. When I say Tarja messes around to much I mean she does it from the original song making it hard to mix but in reality she is impressive and her voice is super powerful. I watch the link you recommended with young Whitney Houston thanks.
