This goes to show anyone who thinks musicians, especially vocalists are "lucky because they were born with talent" how wrong they are. Huge difference between 1993 and the 2000's. You can tell how much she had to work. So yeah, in my opinion talent is the way lazy people describe hard-working people's work. It doesn't take talent to master a craft, it takes work and practice.
Some of it has to do with like genetics of the brain when it comes to singing. Aside from tone deaf people, I think that there's a sort of "pseudo-tone-deaf" as well. That said, when it comes to getting especially _famous_ at singing it's more about being rich or getting lucky unfortunately.
You do realize that a talent is by definition something one is born with, right? Just because she was better in her 20s than when she was a teenager doesn't mean she wasn't talented to begin with. Her voice was already abnormally mature in her early 20s, that comes from talent.
but the talent is in the musicality. so to get the talent out you must train. but you can already hear it in your head: and then you train to make it sound like in your head. That is why seeing young musicians is so cute: you can see them feel it in their head. And now years later we hear what they heard all the time. The vibe is already there
Absolutely. I hate when people tell me that I'm talented with a "gOd GiVeN tAlEnt". No bitch! I literally went to music school for 5 years and afterwards I studied singing until masters degree. It's not talent, it's hard work. At my first year of music school I wasn't able to hit any key and I thought there will be no chance for me to become a god singer. Well I was wrong. Now I'm teaching people to sing and a lot of people who come to me to the first singing lesson think they'll never be able to sing but they're just unused to it, not untalented. Talent comes with work and not the other way around. People who are god in bodybuilding, painting, football or what ever are also not born with the ability for it, they were just more interested for that than others and exercise more in this way. It's the very same thing with singing. It's all about exercising to become talented. Period.
Let's face it ! Zach Ansley Analyzes Tarja Turunen Time 12.00 VIBRATO !! ruclips.net/video/63z_qZ5bV5c/видео.html ´´Her frequency of vibrato is unacceptable¨ ! Is Floor Jansen perfect ? No !
@@wearehere8925 Well, they are different, and they are both great singers. Floor has a giant vocal range and can sing almost every style of music, while Tarja has perfected singing in a specific field and type of music. Personally I think Floor fits Nightwish better though, as their songs got much more versatile with her.
@Big Bill O'Reilly Really? Who are you to tell me who I can listen to? What are you going to do, huh? Cry? Tell your mommy? I am listening to the 'Once' album right now, and you can't do anything about it... Tarja is a great singer, as well as Floor. You are just a little fanboy and I find it it quite amusing that you think you can tell people they "are not allowed to listen to Tarja" and expect to be taken seriously.
@Big Bill O'Reilly "You must not listen to her" literally means "you are not allowed to listen to her". Also, where are my comments ignorant? This made up rivalry between Tarja and Floor is so useless and annoying, as they are both great singers... Just enjoy the music and stop whining.
@Big Bill O'Reilly Tarja's future is easy to predict! At the age of 55, Tarja will sound and maybe also look like this classically trained singer! ruclips.net/video/jxn99P133Pw/видео.html
The 1993-1995 years are simply amazing....she sounds so different! Floor Jansen is fantastic in Nightwish--a lot of people hold her on a higher pedestal than Tarja as a Nightwish singer, but for me, I came of age listening to Tarja and there's such a gorgeous richness in her voice that works SO well with Nightwish songs. I'm glad she continues to be so successful as a solo artist.
@diascrive I wouldn't be too sure with that. We might see what the future holds, but Floor is an incredibly great artist, on a way too short leash right now in terms of new written songs.
What's crazy is that her album last year (2019) called "In the Raw" was her masterpiece and her best work yet . Just an amazing album. She is in her 40s now and her voice has lost nothing, only improved, in my opinion.
I love her so much. But I really wish she would straighten our her vowel transitions. She sounds like a goat or a cow. I don't mean that in an insulting way. I am not musically educated so I don't know the proper terms. I am just saying she does this excessive overpronounciation of vowels that hurt my ears. Drown is "druOOOOOWwn-ah" or lies is "Lih-EYEEEEs." This is lessened in the album versions of these songs
It's shameful that I, old Tarjaholic, know so little about her solo work. That have to change. I was a big Nightwish fan 1998-2005. Then Tarja was fired, and I abandoned them all for years. Now I've been back with NW since Floor came in, and listened to some Tarja's music also, but I still have very little knowlegdement of her solo work. She is glorious. Music is not 100% for my taste, but I will have to give it better chance.
Her solo work is definitely worth checking, but you know... after hearing all those biggest NW songs with her... they leave a little bit of - how to say - not 100% fulfilling experience. Like Tuomas was using her voice better than she can on her own :) I'll say her time in NW was her brightest period.
a long time ago i entered a gothic club called ,,shadow" during playing the unknown over the hills and far away and after 5 seconds of listening i felt in love to tarja and nightwish and i became a fan.
What a fantastic footage. But, man, those 20 years passed like nothing. I still have the original feelings like the symphonic metal is something new ... and it´s over 20 years already ... damn.
The MASSIVE change between 1997 and 1998, between age 20 and 21 the age at which she filmed Sleeping Sun. That was a conscious choice and a vital one. She couldn't have delivered Sleeping sun aged 20. Incredible.
Tarja is like a Cathedral & wine - getting more talented & beautiful with age! In thi video we can also see Plamen Dimov - Tarja's first music teacher who is a Bulgarian who moved to Kitee, Finland a long time ago ;) Tarja has trained so much her voice and nowadays, her voice sounds more powerful and has a bigger range. What is more important is that Tarja still sings from her whole soul and this can be felt by any person - her voice is like velvet, touches you so softly, fill you with love & inspiration to fight for your dreams! Tarja's an example of how we all should enjoy life and live our dreams!
This may sound a bit controversial, don't grill me yet :) I'd say that Tuomas from NW was better composer for Tarja than Tarja herself. I mean, songs created by him with Tarja's voice in mind have reached iconic status, and not without a reason. He was using her voice like an instrument, with deep knowledge how to make it most epic. Tarja's solo work, well, it is all good but there is a certain element that is missing. Maybe he was pushing her to her limits (and maybe further) and got the job done perfectly. Just my two cents.
@Big Bill O'Reilly If you doubt I own those, how do you think I've came to this conclusion? By reading Wikipedia? I don't need to prove you anything, but I DO own almost all her solo albums including First Act and Sibelius Hall DVDs. Also seen her live few times, the best show I think was with Mike Terrana (Beauty and the beat, cool wordplay BTW) that I went to another country to see. Now, what's your story, bro? :)
@Big Bill O'Reilly Why the heck are you instructing me what to do? You some kind of oracle or what? :) No, thank you, I will not sell any Tarja album even if you don't like it. Yes, Nightwish suits me better, and still I can enjoy Tarja solo, just with other qualities. No, BatB is not my favourite work of hers, I just said it was the best show I've seen because of energy and fun they showed on stage. Actually as an album it's rather weak (maybe because it was rather designed as a live show).
She is Queen of Kitee, Opera and Symphonic Metal! 👑❤ She is also best Nightwish singer ever! 🤘 I miss Tarja era, but also I'm glad she has incredible and versatile solo career. ❤🤘 Also I'm glad my another favourite singer Floor Jansen is in Nightwish. ❤🤘
Nemo, deep silent complete, sleepwalker, swanheart, walking in the air, dead boy's poem, two for tragedy, astral romance, ever dream, she is my sin, come cover me, sleeping sun, wish I had an angel, Ghost love score, Dark chest of wonders - these songs are the best songs ever!!!!!
Tarja has always been my favorite nightwish singer... First of all she was the one who started it with them the first singer... Second I just think she fits the best. Of course floor is an awesome singer, and Annette...but I'm sorry my loyalty is remains with Tarja
The evolution of her voice is amazing. You can tell that she has never ended her training and she only continues to grow her talent. I wish she would produce an album that will highlight her traditional training beyond the album of her singing multiple versions of Ave Maria. She has a great talent and I'd love to hear her sing more opera.
Really interesting to watch all the growth as an artist and as a person. I would have chosen other performances in some spots but very well done. Truly a legend this lady is.
WOW what an EPIC Legendary journey!!! Thank You for sharing this!!! Ghost Love Score is still my Favourite Track to this day even with Floor Singing it. But Over the Hills and far away has to be the highlight of this video for me as it is the first Nightwish Track I heard, which got me hooked.
She was such an integral part of Nightwish being what it is today. Her and Tuomas.. one without the other and we wouldn’t have had Nightwish In fact when she left, I had a really hard time seeing Nightwish as “Nightwish” without her in it. I think Floor is excellent though but there is something about Tarja’s sound that is so special. Tarja was how I found my voice. I mimicked her sound and tone for years in my teens and it really helped me to develop my voice. She was such a goddess to me growing up and still is.
OMG . Where you find this old video :D ? Awww.. She is so shy :D Now she is Queen. Also Tuomas look so cute. Ok maybe is good thing Tuomas dont sing anymore :D
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer Yes. He looked back then quite geeky and different with lighter and short hair but it's him. Here, I hope the link works: weheartnightwish.tumblr.com/post/129902470808
Amazing video :) Good job :) the first one got me like :O I've never seen this '93 video before. Although, I think you should add some more of the live performances throughout years 2013-2017, because I think she sounds a bit more different now. She uses this dark, deep new kind of a voice.
It doesn't need to be the same. I love both Tarja and Floor, and Nightwish is doing great with Floor too. Enjoy Tarja's Nightwish years, don't let it prevent enjoying Floor's.
Tarja's nightwish covers are often better than the originals, not just because she's improved her voice but also because in some instances she's actually improved the songs as well. If you do such a compilation here's a few you should think about including. Passion and the Opera from the "warm up" concerts This is a song they never seemed to play live and she's taken it to a new level compared to the album version. The Siren from either summerbreeze 2009 or hamburg This song they did play but again her version is better than the original. Max Liljia's Cello and Kevin Chown's more melodic voice, imo improves the song greatly. Also this is certainly one of the old songs that ONLY Tarja can really do justice. White night fantasy Again this is a song they never played on tour. However, Tarja did cover it at least once in her solo career. Angels Fall First i don't know if you can find a good video of this or not, but I think she did cover it a few times. I've seen video from what appears to be her beauty and the beat tour. However, in it she makes a mistake and misses or forgets the first line of the song. She recovers flawlessly though and renders the song as only she can. Anyway, I just think this is one of the most touching nightwish songs and one that was most suited to Tarja and her vocal style than any of the other vocalists. Lastly. Her Everdream, Tutankhamun, Slaying the dreamer medley I would include this song not specifically because of her renditions of the individual songs but because I think it's a brilliant idea to make a medley of these 3 songs. i think it has deeper meaning and significance. It's a message about human emotions and how fickle they can be in some people and go from one extreme to another and about how "love' especially unrequited love can turn to hate. I would also include the "toast", beforehand, in which she raises her "imaginary glass to the past" in the video. I think it has significance and meaning.
No matter what people say about Floor now, how great she is.
Nightwish wouldn't be nowhere near to their popularity if it wasn't for Tarja's beatuful angelic voice.
She was the face of Nightwish and forever most iconic.

Who knew that little girl in 1993 would become the international superstar she is today?
She is Nr 1
can't get over how beautiful Tarja is in "the Carpenter" video. She looks like she's straight from a 19th century portrait
She still does! 😆
She is allways beautiful
No matter what everyone says, Sleeping Sun will always be Tarja's song!
It's just Tarja in 4-5 minutes! AWESOME!
Sorry. What is the song she's sang after the carpenter

You can tell how much she had to work. So yeah, in my opinion talent is the way lazy people describe hard-working people's work. It doesn't take talent to master a craft, it takes work and practice.
Well, talent helps progress faster. There realy is a difference. But talent is nothing without sweat and hard work.
Period.
This video tells us that you have to start from somewhere to get somewhere. Tarja did it. And very well.
She is probably one of the best singers ever, let's get this straight
Let's face it !
Zach Ansley Analyzes Tarja Turunen Time 12.00 VIBRATO !!

´´Her frequency of vibrato is unacceptable¨ !
From Wishes to Eternity (2001) I've watched the DVD so many times that I know every movement they make 😂
That is GREAT !
Same
The 1993-1995 years are simply amazing....she sounds so different!
Tarja is best
Floor is same with you= shit noob
1. Tarja 2. Anette 3. Floor
Ok floor is some good
@diascrive I wouldn't be too sure with that. We might see what the future holds, but Floor is an incredibly great artist, on a way too short leash right now in terms of new written songs.
Sleeping Sun will always resonate with me
That's one of my favourites too. I also love Stargazers and Passion of the Opera.
Especially the music video! It almost makes me cry it's so beautiful

@@Paddelnoob1 Thanks for more proof about you, poor thing.
I have not seen her most recent concerts and Tarja evolved so much as a stage performer. She was good in NW but now she is simply amazing!
Tarja forever the Queen of Symphonic Metal. Long live the Queen
What's crazy is that her album last year (2019) called "In the Raw" was her masterpiece and her best work yet . Just an amazing album. She is in her 40s now and her voice has lost nothing, only improved, in my opinion.
powskier IN THE RAW ITS AMAZING
I love her so much. But I really wish she would straighten our her vowel transitions. She sounds like a goat or a cow. I don't mean that in an insulting way. I am not musically educated so I don't know the proper terms. I am just saying she does this excessive overpronounciation of vowels that hurt my ears. Drown is "druOOOOOWwn-ah" or lies is "Lih-EYEEEEs." This is lessened in the album versions of these songs
@@MewMewSun She will never lose her strong Finnish accent.
Naw dude, In The Raw is a great album for sure, but Tarja’s masterpiece is The Shadow Self
@@powskier I hope she never loses her gorgeous exquisite accent 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
Tarja era songs will always be hers. I feel like she ia the female version of Dio...
Yup !😊
I still have the original feelings like the symphonic metal is something new ... and it´s over 20 years already ... damn.
Fui fan desde los 10 años y ahora ya tengo 28 y este 27 de Junio la voy a ver omg estoy emocionada!!!
The MASSIVE change between 1997 and 1998, between age 20 and 21 the age at which she filmed Sleeping Sun. That was a conscious choice and a vital one. She couldn't have delivered Sleeping sun aged 20. Incredible.
Best nightwish lead singer ever.
More than that, she was one of Nightwish's founding members. It literally would not exist unless for her.
One of the best female vocal, all over the world! We are bless to listening her gift from God! Thank you Tarja❤️
Tarja is like a Cathedral & wine - getting more talented & beautiful with age! In thi video we can also see Plamen Dimov - Tarja's first music teacher who is a Bulgarian who moved to Kitee, Finland a long time ago ;)
Tarja has trained so much her voice and nowadays, her voice sounds more powerful and has a bigger range. What is more important is that Tarja still sings from her whole soul and this can be felt by any person - her voice is like velvet, touches you so softly, fill you with love & inspiration to fight for your dreams! Tarja's an example of how we all should enjoy life and live our dreams!
I have watched! It is amazing, truly a legend. she grew exponentially, amazing to watch!
Yes, Tarja has grown up so much as a singer and as woman as well! I'm happy you've watched this :)
No, thank you, I will not sell any Tarja album even if you don't like it.
Fantastic journey,Yes she is a legend 💫🔥🔥🔥
Tarja , die Göttin😍
that's why I think she's the best ... her discipline, cosiness make her what she is ... my queen will live forever
she possesses such a vast soprano range that each time i hear her superb voice it seem as though i hear it anew...just tremendous...

The evolution of her voice is amazing. You can tell that she has never ended her training and she only continues to grow her talent. I wish she would produce an album that will highlight her traditional training beyond the album of her singing multiple versions of Ave Maria. She has a great talent and I'd love to hear her sing more opera.

Coincido plenamente . . .!!!
And sounds like the CD that is pretty hard to get that result
She was such an integral part of Nightwish being what it is today. Her and Tuomas.. one without the other and we wouldn’t have had Nightwish In fact when she left, I had a really hard time seeing Nightwish as “Nightwish” without her in it. I think Floor is excellent though but there is something about Tarja’s sound that is so special. Tarja was how I found my voice. I mimicked her sound and tone for years in my teens and it really helped me to develop my voice. She was such a goddess to me growing up and still is.
Great video
Maravilloso video de la carrera y evolución de Tarja ❤

Amazing video :) Good job :) the first one got me like :O I've never seen this '93 video before. Although, I think you should add some more of the live performances throughout years 2013-2017, because I think she sounds a bit more different now. She uses this dark, deep new kind of a voice.

I walk alone es una excelente cancion de Tarja
amazing video, great job!
Thank you very much, glad you like it. I've been making a compilation of Tarja's Nightwish covers that you might like.
Tarja's nightwish covers are often better than the originals, not just because she's improved her voice but also because in some instances she's actually improved the songs as well. If you do such a compilation here's a few you should think about including.
Passion and the Opera from the "warm up" concerts
This is a song they never seemed to play live and she's taken it to a new level compared to the album version.
The Siren from either summerbreeze 2009 or hamburg
This song they did play but again her version is better than the original. Max Liljia's Cello and Kevin Chown's more melodic voice, imo improves the song greatly. Also this is certainly one of the old songs that ONLY Tarja can really do justice.
White night fantasy
Again this is a song they never played on tour. However, Tarja did cover it at least once in her solo career.
Angels Fall First
i don't know if you can find a good video of this or not, but I think she did cover it a few times.
Lastly. Her Everdream, Tutankhamun, Slaying the dreamer medley
I would include this song not specifically because of her renditions of the individual songs but because I think it's a brilliant idea to make a medley of these 3 songs. i think it has deeper meaning and significance. It's a message about human emotions and how fickle they can be in some people and go from one extreme to another and about how "love' especially unrequited love can turn to hate. I would also include the "toast", beforehand, in which she raises her "imaginary glass to the past" in the video. I think it has significance and meaning.
The best!!!
Muchas gracias por subir la evolución de esta gran mujer. Saludos y bendiciones 😘
Saludos 👋
magnífico recopilacion
It's not that she wasn't capable of delivering another masterpiece like that. It's just that she never got the opportunity.
Here is the real night wish, Tarja is unreplaceble
