It was the soap not the lid that's the problem here. Don't use soap to clean carpet or furniture because it will leave residue. The professionals don't use soap. One I know in particular uses baking soda w/ hot water and leaves his clients carpets looking fresh as the day they bought it...

I use 1:1 ratio of warm water and white vinegar and 2 drops dish saop for 1st round, then 2nd round (if needed) 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 warm water, lastly just water. Vinegar is a cleaner, disinfectant, and fabric softener and will not affect the fabric. Dont worry the smell always goes away. If you want you may add to the last step which is just water 1-2 tbs of Fabtic Refresher Spray Liquid and it will smell really nice. Hope this helps.
P.S. don't use detergents cause it will crust or make the fabric tough. Remember thats why clothes need 2 cycles of rinsing in the washing machine.🥰❤️😘

😬🙀 In the comments, there's a formula for preparing a cleaning solution with 1T vinegar , 1T of baking soda and 1 T of dish washing soap added to a bowl of warm water. Please don't use a tablespoon of dish soap!! That is way too much and you'll end up with a waxy film on whatever you 'clean'.

Please get a proper upholstery cleaner to come in do the tests on your sofa and determine a safe approach. What if it's 100% linen and you can't wet clean it? You'll brown the whole thing and ruin it. That's why upholstery cleaners go and get trained to make sure that thousands worth of upholstery doesn't get ruined.

You could also check the tag. I’m a big advocate of clean environments, and sofas can hold a lot of allergens and dust and oils etc. yes a professional is better but I don’t think that’s accessible to everyone. That being said I absolutely do not agree with the viral TikTok method in this video. It’s way too concentrated and will never rinse out, it’ll basically turn your sofa into a cleaning sponge that attracts dirt faster.
Best method, thoroughly and slowly vacuum everywhere (make sure your attachments are clean and don’t have sharp edges). If you can afford them, i use the following. I suggest spot treating and spraying the sofa down with a dedicated cleaner or diluted solution. I like bissell pro max, but many people like folex, just something low sudsing and dedicated for carpet cleaning. Always test spot it. Give it a spray, hit it with a drill brush with soft bristles or even a sponge depending on material. Go over it with a steamer. And then use an extractor to spray clean plain water to flush out the cleaning agent and extract it. You want it to dry as fast and as thoroughly as possible, I even recommend placing clean towels over any areas that had difficult stains that might wick (return to the surface).
And no the machines will not be as powerful as truck mounted ones, but this is an affordable way to maintain things. For a lighter clean I’d vacuum, spot treat, and give it a wipe with a very diluted solution, and then a clean damp cloth, and follow up with a cloth to remove any excess moisture.

@@kookiedonaldson4487 hey sorry for the late response. Yeah I’ll absolutely help in any way I can.
Let’s do this. Tell me what you want to clean and what you’re working with as far as if you have machines or chemicals etc. if you’re looking to remove stains it’s helpful to know what they are as different stains need different approaches.
To answer your question directly, you can absolutely use a shop vac/wet dry vac to extract. They even make kits to turn your shop vac to an extractor with the addition of a water hose. If I was on a budget or didn’t have space and couldn’t get an extractor I would probably use my shop vac with either a very very diluted mixture or I’d try to rinse it some how. I guess I’d use a spray bottle with water and spray the water manually as I’m vacuuming up the dirty soapy water. Anyway all questions are welcome. I’ve spent a lot of time researching and trying things with the goal of being able to clean effectively while not damaging anything. Ask away. :)

@@handycoco8456 you need to create a foam in the cloth, then using a pot lid with a sharp edge, the technique is to drag the sharp edge over the fabric. This should create a foamy layer which you then pull along and out of the fabric. Rinsing the cloth each time you scoop or "shave" the foam through the cloth....rinse, squeeze cloth and wrap lid n repeat! Bleddy faf tho!
