Fun fact: The crane weighs a whopping 160 tons and was flipped twice during filming. As a result, it was totaled and had to be repaired ASAP within a week instead of being replaced, which would have cost an additional $1.5 million.

SgtBaker16 yep. Although I enjoyed this scene, nothing will beat the first two no matter how big they try to go. Music and atmosphere alone makes the first two better than any others.
Exactly! That’s an argument I used against Terminator Dark Fate. Filmmakers be all dramatic and brag about even the slightest things in their movies now. Smh
She played the role incredibly well, it would've been even better if they picked a different outfit for her... that always bugged me, especially the heels. Reduce the amount of comedic moments in this movie and it would be a few more stars for sure. The special FX actually look better than the new stuff - not overdone, and blended much better with the movie (because they were "hidden" since the technology was not so developed yet).
Not trying to be mean, but logic like this is the reason we don't get proper sequels but rehashes of the original two. Two of the best sequels (T2 and Aliens) have used little to no "gimmicks" from their originals (however memorable). They were great standalone films in their own right.

Even though T3 wasn't that good and no where near the perfection of T1 & T2, it's a modern day masterpiece compared to the rest of the Terminator films. Hell i even got the T3 game on OG Xbox back in the day. I need to rewatch this movie someday
Fun fact - they did similar thing in T2. In the nitrogen tanker chase scene, when they drive off ramp and the tanker crashes through water barrels they also added the sound of a lion roar there. Except back then they managed to make it work.
Unpopular opinion: I like this better than the truck vs. bike scene in Terminator 2. That chase just went in a straight line; this one goes all over the place, and has more fun destruction.
This is the one scene in T3 that felt on par with the previous Terminator movies. It feels EPIC. And that's what defined T2 - it's hard to describe the sheer epic scale of that movie. But this epicness served a purpose. Terminators have no regard for themselves and others and only their mission. When the T-1000 chased Connor in that tow truck in T2 what make it so scary was HOW it drove. It didn't matter how many cars or objects it hit. It didn't matter how much it destroyed its own vehicle. So the T-1000 FELT terrifying. This scene captures that feeling. It's not mindless Michael Bay destruction. The TX doesn't care about anything other than its mission. For a moment this movie felt like the originals. The movie as a whole isn't bad it's just not as epic. But this scene brought it close to that greatness.
Genysis did nothing to lend weight or plot to its action scenes. Its like just a bunch of shit you can watch in any order and it wont matter. Ive never seen such a vapid movie Terminator 3 was the worst for so long
Only people too young to have grown up with good movies that started whole franchises would be ok with saying something like this. I'm not saying you're an asshole or a moron.
T3 bounced back and forth between practical effects and CGI, but the problem is the practical stuff looked great while the CGI didn't. You can clearly see the disconnect between the two and it hurts the movie. That and the fact that Nick Stahl was a terrible John Connor. If they had polished the effects a little better and Edward Furlong had gotten his shit together to be in the film, I think it would've made a huge difference. Ultimately, T3's flaws weren't the story so much as how sloppy the movie was put together.
@@bobbyraejohnson But even in how she walks and speaks, body language, mild sensual yet predatory facial expressions. Just cool 2 see women characters not having 2 emulate men to be strong. I don't care 2 see the principal from Matilda arm wrestling t800s to figure out that she's tough.
It's becasue shes apart of the film. She isn't put in there because shes a 'waman'. Totally agree and it's a shame that they are degrading the appreciation of woman in action films now becasue of the political direction we are going in.
ONYX-WARRIOR16 of course she looks strong/dominant, she is like 5.11, 6.0. But Today they go with 5.3 chihuahua and want us to believe she is throng dominant female.

Not gonna happen. The movie is already 16 years old and I still never hear this scene being brought up as one of the greatest chase scenes of all time. If people aren't talking about it now, they won't be talking about it in the future. That being said, this is easily the best scene in the whole film.
@@papabearpapaboo Then why use future tense if something has already happened? Furthermore, when you say that it will go down in history, you're implying that your opinion will be shared universally, which has not happened nor does it look like it ever will.
This scene blew me away when I first saw it in theaters back then. It was the first Terminator movie I got to see properly in theaters, being only 4 years old when T2 came out. Good times.
Same. i seen all the Terminator movies and wasn't born yet when T2 came but i remember watching this film on big screen and just having my jaw dropped from this chase scene. It was so real and thrilling and just brutal. I've seen hundreds maybe thousands of films in my lifetime but this scene sticks to me
That actually wasn't scripted. Krisstana actually was trying not to laugh because they never told the stunt crew that were driving the firetruck that they were gonna do that lol
T1 had a perfect ending. T2 was so good that it justified ruining a perfect ending. And then it tied everything up very well. T3 was even more unnecessary and a garbage remake of T2 with awful acting. Salvation was a bit better. Genysis could have saved the franchise but ended up being a convoluted mess with an amazing opening future war sequence. I would have liked to see parts 2 and 3 though, the story could have come full circle, tie up everything and make sense by the end of it. And it could have redeemed part 1. Dark Fate was a definite step in the right direction, but still only ok.
It undermines the accomplishments of Terminator 2, along with also undermining the theme that Terminator 2 ends with. "There is no fate but what we make for ourselves". It isn't terrible like Genisys or Dark Fate, but it isn't amazing either. It is an okay film that is trying to live up to Terminator 2, whilst also undermining that film.
While I haven't seen every car chase in cinema history, I have high confidence in saying it is probably the best. I'm sorry, when that crane's cable ran out and it spiked itself into the ground, I was like, 'Holy sweet mother of God'...

The terminator formula is one big chase and they really nail it.
Remember when there was a woman playing a character in a Terminator film, and it wasn't a big deal? Bring back Kristana Loken.
Exactly! That’s an argument I used against Terminator Dark Fate. Filmmakers be all dramatic and brag about even the slightest things in their movies now. Smh
Nicholas Chen 👍
Because she wasn't cringy like today.
Joshua O'Rourke cause she was an actual woman, not an androgynator lmaoooo
She played the role incredibly well, it would've been even better if they picked a different outfit for her... that always bugged me, especially the heels. Reduce the amount of comedic moments in this movie and it would be a few more stars for sure. The special FX actually look better than the new stuff - not overdone, and blended much better with the movie (because they were "hidden" since the technology was not so developed yet).
I love seeing how the T-X (T-2000) can work around mostly every single obstacle the T-800 throws at it in this film.
T-850 not T-800

Except for the T-850’s hydrogen cell being stuffed into the T-X’s mouth, that is. Then again, the T-X was only a crawler at that point

Hate all you want on T3, this scene kicks ass
2:40 look at her smile.
She is like: "Finally😌"
You mean 2:45
T3 is not a masterpiece but it's still pretty good when compared to Salvation or Dark Fate and MAN that crane chase! Love it
God in heaven, what was the budget for this movie? This chase scene alone must've absorbed half of it.
Arnold paid out of his own pocket to have this scene put in
The budget was about 200 million pretty high for the early 2000's but it did bring in about 450 million so I would say it was a success
This entire action sequence is better than anything in Genysis!
LOL Yeah, Genysis was horrible.
Don't compare. OMG that was a huge trash.
Genysis did nothing to lend weight or plot to its action scenes. Its like just a bunch of shit you can
watch in any order and it wont matter. Ive never seen such a vapid movie Terminator 3 was the worst for so long
Genysis did have a solid opening scene though
All the hate towards this movie made about as much sense as the hate towards the Star Wars prequel films. Massively underappreciated
Only people too young to have grown up with good movies that started whole franchises would be ok with saying something like this.

I love T3
in Dark Fate and Genisys, CGI was heavily overused and made it look unconvincing
T3 and Salvation atleast did right the practical effect
I don't think any studios make movies like this anymore with that kind of $200 million budget
Practical effects over CGI all the way! Truth is T3 and Salvation’s effects still hold up even decades later, because they are REAL.
You did see the bathroom fight right?
T3 bounced back and forth between practical effects and CGI, but the problem is the practical stuff looked great while the CGI didn't. You can clearly see the disconnect between the two and it hurts the movie. That and the fact that Nick Stahl was a terrible John Connor. If they had polished the effects a little better and Edward Furlong had gotten his shit together to be in the film, I think it would've made a huge difference. Ultimately, T3's flaws weren't the story so much as how sloppy the movie was put together.
T4 sucks T5 was a greatest hits version of a Terminator film
2:40 smiling Terminator. So cute :D
I just love the fact that there is no musical score for most of this whole scene up until the end. Just the sounds of chaos and destruction.

THIS is what a dominant/strong woman character looks like! Very feminine, very powerful. No masculine energy!!!

The film empowers and captures all the feminine attributes in a cyborg killing machine. She's like a Ferrari and the t850 is like a tractor. walks heavy and solid, militant face and hydraulic like movements. perfect counterparts to each other.

The franchise should have ended here, this movie wasnt as good as T1 and T2, but was a worthy sequel and ending.
No way, this ending would have sucked. Besides, Salvation depicted what many of us looked forward to seeing.
What an awesome plan he performed at the end! 😅
Looking back, I love T3. Not as good as the first two but an adequate ENDING to the trilogy.
I don't recognise the sequels after this one
T1 had a perfect ending. T2 was so good that it justified ruining a perfect ending. And then it tied everything up very well. T3 was even more unnecessary and a garbage remake of T2 with awful acting. Salvation was a bit better. Genysis could have saved the franchise but ended up being a convoluted mess with an amazing opening future war sequence. I would have liked to see parts 2 and 3 though, the story could have come full circle, tie up everything and make sense by the end of it. And it could have redeemed part 1.
Dark Fate was a definite step in the right direction, but still only ok.
