This movie got some spectacular directing ideas.
I LOVE the TX. The acting by the actress, the subtle movement when the t850 pulls up with the rpg. It has this split second recognition of, “hold on, THAT weapon can actually damage me, uhoh”.

I have one minor problem with the T-X in this scene and that it wastes it's best chance to kill Kate by impersonating her fiancé. If it had just waited until she got a little bit closer the kill would have been so easy but I guess it wanted to use its weapons instead.
@@jonathanbarr9764 Its very possible that the T-X was under the impression that killing Kate in this scene was a done deal, and if you look at it.. yeah, it kind of is. If the T-850 doesnt drive up *right then* and hits the T-X with an RPG; what was Kate going to do? She was facing down an advanced Terminator with plasma weapons and other equipment, she was literally seconds from being shot as it was. Where/what was Kate's escape *before* Arnie came to the rescue?

So It is very believable that the T-X felt they were guaranteed to kill Kate in this instance, unmorphed to pull out the Plasma shooter and thanks to plot, the T-850 showed up just in time to keep the movie going.
Without the T-850 pulling up the T-X vaporizes' Kate with ease.
So thats almost exactly what the reason for your question is honestly.

I never hated 3, I always thought 1 and 2 were golden and that 3 was good, but after seeing Genisys and Dark Fate it’s obvious 3 is a great movie.
I always thot this was maphuckin rank from best to wuerst. 2..1...4..5 and 3 tied both very average then the last one dark age or whatever was terrible social justice warriors thrash
I enjoyed 3 but it just always felt like an unnecessary movie, that kinda voided the second one. It was a sad fate for Sarah Connor because you saw on her plaque “fate is what you make it” basically, but this movie just kinda threw the middle finger to that while also throwing the middle finger to the second movie as a whole, like they didn’t stop judgment day, they just post poned it which just felt….crappy. Like the acting a special effects of this one were as good or better that its predecessors, bit the whole tone was just…grim…

Genisys and Dark Fate make Rise of the Machines looks like an underrated gem!
Next few movies will make you appreciate Dark Fate.
What makes this movie not good?.
They could have been a little more creative with the timetravel story. Some new AI, totally different from Skynet, engineered by humans in the alternate future John Connor and his mother created, becomes conscious and decides to end humanity (surprise). It discovers the story of the original Terminators on the internet, likes the idea and builds a Terminator looking just like Arnold to infiltrate and kill John Connor in the future. Just to be sure it uses its massive resources and casually builds a time machine to send back another Terminator, just to be sure.
The movie is a great action movie, but the just didn't bother to explain why rolled out like it did.

I just noticed that at the end, when the TX was damaged and had to select a new weapon, each weapon has a name, details, ammo type and even a schematic for how it fits into the arm, aside from all the other diagnostic diagrams.
Say what you want about the movie, but someone put in serious effort into the details.
Edit: Because people couldn't shut up about me calling the TX, a T-1000 by accident, I've learned that people don't care about what you've said, if you've made a pointless typo, even though they understand exactly what you mean...

My personal explanation is this; T-3 gets the hate it does (or did, it seems to be getting more favor these days) specifically because it comes after T-2. Terminator 2: Judgement Day is a masterpiece and very well loved, it came out before T-3, it did alot of what T-3 does but better, T-2 seemed more of a necessity to the story whereas T-3 is looked at as less so.
Think of it like this; your father is Michael Jordan, he is the greatest basketball player of all time, he is universally loved and held as the prime standard of his genre.
Now you being Michael Jordans son, you are going to be compared to your father relentlessly, you will be expected to meet the same standards as your father and then surpass them. However you have no real chance of doing so, not because you're bad; but because the people expected unobtainable goals for you.
Terminator 2 is the Michael Jordon of the Terminator franchise, and Terminator 3 is the Marcus Jordon of the Terminator franchise. He comes as a direct sequal to the best; and he does the best he can, puts in a good effort and goes down his own path even if that doesn't make him better than his father.
Terminator 3 is the little son of Terminator 2, someone who had impossibly high expectations to the point that failure was almost guaranteed.
Thats my own personal take on why T-3 is so lambasted by fans of T-2
The story and the acting were a bit corny at times. The concept of the TX was meh in my opinion. I feel like the t1000 was superb. I would’ve went in the direction that genisys went with a t1000 and a t850 or whatever it’s called against a reprogrammed t850 and perhaps more of a badass John Conner. Not this drug addict whiney baby.
That and Arnold’s acting had a little too much emotion for a machine, especially near the ending, unlike in the previous films.

So many have been bad mouthing T3 for years. So it was far below expectations after T2 so who really cares it did not meet the approval of the masses. only the true die hard fans of the series like myself truly appreciate it especially now in 2023 as its turning 20 years old...
That's right friend, only ignorant people criticize Terminator 3, just follow the path of Terminator 2 pure action, Terminator 2 was lucky enough to hire the pioneering special effects company such as "Fantasy II Effects" friend, I recently wanted to remember the childhood watching the movie killer clowns from outer space (1988) and the effects company is "Fantasy II Effects" and they were fucking ahead of their time.
For a good Terminator movie to be solid, it has to include dark gore, horror, mystery, and rot (terminator with rotting skin) like the first one.

The shot at 3:22 is such a great terminator moment. It really does look like an tremendously heavy chunk of liquid metal being hurled through the air. The actress and director nailed the whole, incredibly strong and emotionless killing machine thing.

He sticked to his word for about 26 years, he called the sequels that been made since then "bad dreams" and said they have nothing to do with his T1 and T2, he was right. Until he decided to participate in the production of "Dark fate" which is the worst sequel ever made. Pure bullshit film.

3:59 Seeing John defend himself from the T-X is just so cool. It shows that he is not scared to fight the cyborg who has been sent to terminate him again. It almost looks like that he can protect himself without the T-850.
Sure he can fight, as long his weapons aren't empty. The TX would have grabbed him if that truck hasn't showed up.

I don’t know why this movie got such a bad rep back in the day, I personally find this movie very enjoyable to watch. And I swear there’s hidden comedy in there too, not nearly as dark, dreary and scary as the first two. It has it’s own charm I guess. 🤣
Cause let’s talk about how bullet proof that casket and hearse was but somehow an RPG7 didn’t do hardly squat to a flimsy robot 😆. It was overplayed. Also ol T800 saying “talk to the hand” later was lame AF. 🤷🏼♂️

The big turn-off for me about this movie is that it seems like Arnie's been sent back to play matchmaker this time. Something just doesn't sit well with me about "you must get with the girl or the universe is doomed" kind of plots.

The thing I dislike about the older movies that the new movies have fixed is the countless tactical errors that terminators make. Like when they only run towards their targets when they're driving at vehicle or they will just throw them around instead of killing them. Terminators are highly intelligent machines that don't have human flaws such as holding back or playing around so they should not be making obvious mistakes like that. Even in this scene the TX changed back for no reason at a great distance from her target scaring her away.
