Agreed. The acting and direction is superb. Lewis Stone appears in both movie versions of Scaramouche with success in both the silent and sound mediums.
11 :00: "The Field of Honour " scene. Look at the windmill in the back ground : it's turning with no sails on 🤔 ..maybe they used Louis XVl era clingfilm....😊 The costumes , prop's and sets are good, aren't they...👍. And the hero's quite cute , too ! 😊 Year : 1923. My father was 6, my mother was 4... and I was minus 23 ! 😊. 🇬🇧😊🗼👍⭐💙🇨🇵
Excellent observation on the windmill. The historical research behind the sets and costumes was meticulous. Our short documentary describes the use of period paintings and the extreme budget this film had for costumes and set design/construction. Northern climates sometime used a purely wooden sail system with movable slats, but these don't look as sophisticated. This may be an example of Ingram the artist, but not an engineer.

I love the music.
Thank you! We appreciate your feedback.
Stewart Granger was very aware of this movie when he was in the remake. He greatly admired Roman Navarro. Rex Ingram’s direction is quite superb.
