I've been searching how to do an invisible zipper with the lining already attached and this is brilliantly explained. Excellent tutorial - thank you! 😊
Greetings from Asia ! So very glad to have chanced upon your tutorial . I am new to sewing and yet to install an invisible zipper to a lined dress (my next project) and having watched your clear and detailed tutorial has given me much confidence. Thank you so much .
I have been searching for tutorial to see invisible zipper in a lined dress but nothing like how you have explained here. You have the talent to teach. It’s a blessing to come across your channel. I made a dress for my daughter and it looks really nice!!!! Thank you. If you have video on how to sew sleeves to a lined bodice please I need help on that. Thank you. God bless you!
Thanks for posting. I hadn't seen a tutorial that recommended basting prior to zipper insertion, but with your basting method, I can ensure that everything is properly lined up before I start. Thanks also for the lining tutorial. The other ones I watched had a hand-sewn slip stitch finish, but I much prefer to machine stitch. I'm excited to try your method with a lined garment!
At first my brain just freeze...then I saw you flip the lining and .... HALLELUJAH it's so smart !!! I am obsessed with reversible garments so... thank you SO MUCH for this video !
Eryn, thanks so much for this video! i was just wondering a day or two ago how this is done as I have a dress that is lined as the one in this tutorial. Now after this, I will be able to do that myself with my own garments! Thanks again for this. God bless you :-)
Hi I just wanted to leave a note thank you so much for the video i watched this like 8 times to get my sisters blouse right it came out great. Sending big ol hugs and hi fives for that. Will be getting the Connie dress pattern this week.
Thank you so much!! I have been scared of zippers for a while now, but your videos really really helped me visualize how to do it. Just made Simplicity 1104 (Cynthia Rowley) with your method and it turned out perfectly. Also, the instructions on that pattern are very similar to yours! But I'm sure I couldn't have figured it out from the line drawings - ha ha.
Thank you so much for explaining this process. This video was very informative and done at the right speed. Learnt loads and going to give it my best shot now. Thanks again!
I know this sounds crazy: you have beautiful hands, especially the nail beds, perfectly formed. I'm jealous-LOL. Thank you for this video. I am about to install an invisible zipper into a dress bodice and skirt (and the bodice is lined). Thank you for posting this tutorial.
That is a great tutorial! I'm about to work with a firm cotton twill with an overlay of a light georgette with a line stitched floral embroidery (no dense areas of embroidery), which will also have a lining. Do you think I can do an invisible zipper or should I do a lapped zipper?
Yes, it's essentially the same. I would complete the lining (with top and bottom attached). And then sew it to the zipper in this exact manner. Hope that makes sense!
Nice job, looks flawless. I’ve been sewing for a while and I finally decided to get a Bernina (used) and the zipper foot. Now invisible zippers take 2 minutes tops. No pinning, no ironing, no flattening the zipper.
It's pretty much the same. You install the zipper as shown. Then you sew the remaining fabric together, right sides together, beginning about 1/2 - 3/4 inch above the bottom of the zipper.
The video was great and I really understood everything well. I had a question though. Every other place including the zipper company said to iron back the the rolled zipper teeth to expose that groove but I didn't see you do that in the video. Did you do that already or not at all. I noticed you kept tight control of the teeth the whole time you were sewing. Should I iron or not iron the groove open?
Great Q! I did not iron my zipper in the video. I have ironed it before and it does help. But, for me, it isn't mandatory when following the steps I showed in the video.
@@Stylesewme Thank you so much! I have to replace a zipper on my friend's dress and I don't want to do extra if I can avoid it. Your tutorial made the whole process so simple.
Yes, you can! It doesn't matter if it's sleeved or sleeveless or how long the lining is. Same technique. You just have to sew the lining together all the way to the bottom after you put the zipper in.
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. You are a natural teacher and I appreciate this video very much!
Thank you!!! Best tutorial for invisible zipper with lining on youtube!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial!! I was so confused on how to sew the lining to the zipper and you explained it perfectly! ❤

You're welcome! I prefer to machine stitch as much as possible, too. I hope this works for you!
Thank you. I’ve been trying to figure out what this pattern has been saying all day! This really helps.

You're welcome!
Thank you so much for explaining this process. This video was very informative and done at the right speed. Learnt loads and going to give it my best shot now. Thanks again!
Thank you. I've been needing to confirm how to sew the lining in without the dreaded hand sewing!
I hate hand sewing! LOL Happy to share a shortcut!
omg I needed this a few months ago such a big help!
Thank you so much for your informative video!! It was a massive help to me :)

😊 thank you, nail techs tell me that all the time and always try to let me do designs since I have so much space! lol
Hi! This is out of topic, but what type of fabric did u use? The pink one. Thanks so much!
Ohh your so Nice to watch, very good teacher. 10:06 great camera 📸 work
Love you. 💕 Thanks for this. :)
love your tutorials!!!
That was amazingly helpful. Thank you!

Thank you for explaining this so clearly! How would this work if you also lined the bottom of that dress? What would the steps be in that instance?
Yes, it's essentially the same. I would complete the lining (with top and bottom attached). And then sew it to the zipper in this exact manner. Hope that makes sense!
Also I can’t tell if you have the lining attached to the fashion fabric at the sleeve at this point? Or does that come after sleeve installation?
And finally, how do you attach the lining to the skirt at the waist? Hand stitching?
Yes, already done. The zipper is the second to last part. Attaching at the waist (or hemming if it's a full lining) is last.
Yep handstitching!
thank you....my puzzle for this is no more.
Thank you. Do you have a tutorial for the pants/skirt in your profile picture?
I don't, but it's on my blog. I used Vogue 9075 pants pattern pieces, added a waistband and simply extended the length to make them pants. That's it!
Nice job, looks flawless. I’ve been sewing for a while and I finally decided to get a Bernina (used) and the zipper foot. Now invisible zippers take 2 minutes tops. No pinning, no ironing, no flattening the zipper.
Hi, how would I do this differently when my dress has a waistband and skirt lining?
Gracias por su ayuda, excelente!
Thanx a lot for this video but I want to know how willit be done if the lining is to go all the way down and joined to the bottom edge of the dress ?
It's pretty much the same. You install the zipper as shown. Then you sew the remaining fabric together, right sides together, beginning about 1/2 - 3/4 inch above the bottom of the zipper.
Thank you Ma'am😊

did you leave the invisible zipper foot on when you did the lining?and does it go in the groove the same?
Yes and yes.
Thanks alot!!!!
Could I use this method if my dress had sleeves and was lined all the way to the hem?
Yes, you can! It doesn't matter if it's sleeved or sleeveless or how long the lining is. Same technique. You just have to sew the lining together all the way to the bottom after you put the zipper in.
So awesome
When sewing the lining to the zipper, are the seams from where it was sewn to the fashion fabric supposed to be hidden by the liner?
Yes, you should not see any stitching. That's where the "invisible" name comes from.
Do you have a tutorial for the dress here?
I don't. I made this dress on a whim and didn't record it.
Style Sew Me... okay😔
I know! I'm sorry! I'll do better. :)
My dress 👗 is much more complicated! V9267 too many Steps. I’m so overwhelmed but I’m going to persevere!
Thanks but can u see in the ditch the bottom of the linen?
What store do I buy your materials from?
I buy my supplies from multiple places online and locally. I just google what I am looking for a compare prices.
hi. can I have the name of the fabric? please 😊
It's noted in the beginning of the video. :)
👍👍
Now do a zipper without tape and no zipper foot. Ha ha
What beautiful hands you have
Lost me from the git go. Sorry.
