The best video I’ve seen so far that explains how to install an invisible zipper with a lining on a machine. Most only show how to hand sew it. Thank you!
Thank you so much! This is such a helpful video. It made a concept I was struggling to get around my head easy to understand. Please continue making more!!
Hello, I really love your tutorials, simple and clear. I am very happy to find you. My lined skirts now are well done. God bless you and thanks for your sharing.
Thank you so much. You wouldn't believe how much trouble I had trying to figure out how to install a zipper in a lined dress, I'm making. It's a mess and took me close to an hour. Now I know how to do it right. Thanks again.
Thankyou! I have so much trouble with facings & invisible zippers. I see now i wasn’t folding the skirt back over the zipper properly. Its so easy when someone shows you how 💖
Hi Diane, in reference to my question below, I think I have got it now - more or less. Partly it has to do with my fabric being very lightweight - the bulk of the zipper makes it stick out a bit at the bottom. I hope it will work with some pressing. Thanks
Hello Stephanie, If your fabric is light add a strip of fusable tho the seam allowance just a little wider. Also to make sure it's invisible it's better not to press, let it roll, just steam on the zipper area. Diane
Hi Diane, I've sewn my zipper about ten times now and always get an unsightly bump at the base of the zipper. I think I'm following your directions for the most part. What am I doing wrong here? How can I avoid this problem?
Diane I’m a student for life! Always learning even if I’m teaching Thank you ❤️ Can you do a tutorial on a front slit dress with contrasting fabric? The front is like a triangle same with contrasting fabric. Thanks
Diane, Thank you for the tutorial! I am struggling with how to sew the rest of the lining after this part. Do you have a tutorial for the rest of the lining?
Hello Emily Most probably you are trying to attach the skirt lining at the hem, you should leave them separate, it will fall better. If you want, after it's finish you could add a little tape (about 5 cm long) to each side seam to join lining to self like I did in the lined coat video Coat finishing part 3. ruclips.net/video/65oF1Gc1r0c/видео.html Diane
@@DianeDezieltoolfully How do you attach the front of the skirt and lining now with this method? I am confused? Would you attach those first before you closed up the top?
Bonjour Diane, I have a question: do you always leave the lining loose at the bottom, or could you attach this too? I saw another tutorial of you where you attach the lining at the back vent. I would like to attach mine, but from that other video, I am not sure how you would hem the lining and skirt in that case. The effect I'm after is that when the vent is pulled open slightly, the striped bright lining will be showing. Merci pour votre aide.
I usually attach the bottom of jacket, bodice & some straight coat only, for the bottom part (when you sit on it) like pants, skirt & short, I leave the bottom loose. If there is a slit high end garment you must attach it but you make sure to add extra length to the seam above the slit to avoid the pulling. For looser bottom, you may also sew little tape about 5cm long, one end to the garment one end to the lining to control the lining.
I loved it , i have been struggling to attach lining with zipper !!! just to make sure if i understand correctly you have removed 1 cm from the lining , the side you are sewing the zipper right?
Hi Despoina Yes I remove the seam allowance on the lining on both side of the zipper and when it's time to sew this part, I sew at 5mm to move the seam. Diane
Hi Despoina, the technique of pushing the lining away from the zipper yes, but the measurements will be a little different for a lap zipper, since the inside is asymmetrical. I have to make a video about that. Diane
I’ve been watching this so many times to get my head around this! Thank you! I have a silly question though - do you remove the entire seam allowance? If my seam allowance is 1.5cm, do I remove 1cm or 1.5cm?

So after this, to get the front of the skirt on, do you just sew down the side seams (of the lining and the self) with the rights sides together?
Great instructions !
This is a great demonstration! Thanks so much!
I love your videos!
You make excellent videos. Thank you!

Hi Despoina
Yes I remove the seam allowance on the lining on both side of the zipper and when it's time to sew this part, I sew at 5mm to move the seam.
Diane
Do you think we can do it this was with the normal zipper ?
Hi Despoina,
the technique of pushing the lining away from the zipper yes, but the measurements will be a little different for a lap zipper, since the inside is asymmetrical. I have to make a video about that.
Diane
U removed 5mm or 1 cm from the pattern of the lining?
Merciii mille fois !!! Vrm bien expliqué
Can I have the name of that zipper foot or a link to where I can find it

I’ve been watching this so many times to get my head around this! Thank you!
I have a silly question though - do you remove the entire seam allowance? If my seam allowance is 1.5cm, do I remove 1cm or 1.5cm?
You want a 0cm seam allowance on the part of the lining/facing where the zip will go, so you remove 1.5cm :)
