I hope this short video is clear enough for you to understand and feel like you have mastered the invisible zipper! :) Let's embrace the garments with an invisible zipper!
Blows my mind how many zip tutorials there are on YT and how far I had to scroll to find this CORRECT RTW method of putting in an invisible zipper with lining efficiently, so that the lining won’t get caught in the zipper. I’ll be adding this to my “actually accurate construction methods” playlist; you’re absolutely right and this is how it’s done.
Thanks , my first invisible zip turned out perfect with your instructions. 😮💨😊💯👏🏻 the only thing I did extra was I made a cute fabric zipper tab to cover the end of my zip where I cut it to shorten . Looks super cute and professional inside and out 😀
This is seriously an incredible tutorial video! Thank you so much, this was my first time doing both an invisible zipper and a lining, and it turned out looking incredibly professional. ❤
My sweet mom passed last year and she always wished I would love sewing! I have made several items and I inherited lot of her fabric and sewing notions. My problem is I can’t stand the patterns at times don’t fit right even with measurements. I don’t like the “homemade” look and would like to sew for my granddaughter who is 8. I would rather fully line the bodice instead of the smaller facing in a lot of patterns. Thank you so much for this video!!!! I will practice this technique until I get it!!! You are clear and precise but I can’t quite tell exactly where the needle is placed for some of your seams. Perhaps I am watching on my phone and I need to go to computer to watch again!!! Thank you!!!! You wouldn’t just happen to live in Memphis and I could come for a personal lesson? LOL
So sorry for your loss and thanks so much for leaving me the sweetest comment! Hope your sewing gives you peaceful moment to bring back the sweet memories with your mom! I’m glad you’ve found my channel! 🤍
This video only shows you how to attach the zipper! You can sew the main fabrics together and lining fabrics together after attaching the zipper depending on the pattern you work on!
Great video! This method shows sewing the lining not quite matching the main fabric. I like the finished look. However, my question is: when sewing a garment where the lining and main fabric are the same size, will there need to be any adjustments made to the size of the lining to make sure it aligns with the main fabric at side seams while using this method for the zipper? Hope my question is clear.
Thanks for watching, Linda! The Lining and main fabric have to be the same size so the vent looks unmatched after we sew the lining and main fabric together by showing the lining fabric more. Hm, hope this makes your understanding better! :) If you once try it, you would understand better!
@@SewingTherapy Awesome!! Thank you so much. I am obsessed with both the lining and the self in this video -- I went onto your fabric stores to see if I could find it but of course I didn't. Will they show up on both of your sites? I understand you are probably busy so you may not have time to notify me :) I can't wait for it to become available!!!
What do you do now that the lining is now shorter on that outside edge? If this was not just a flat little sample and an actual garment wouldn’t that mess up the dress/skirt because the lining is smaller than the shell?
This is simply a demonstration. In most instances, lining pieces are typically shorter or smaller than the outer piece, requiring you to complete the lining with either bias tape or a serger for a clean finish.
Great effort..but instructions hide ur video...ur genuine teaching ivalue..pls instead of too close up..mark sewing lines and show us before u stitch..sewing lines if we see it will be easy.. kindly do another video about zip parts, and attaching zip..pls..🙏🙆

Thank you!
Thank you! When do you sew the front self to the back self? And the front facing to the back facing?
This video only shows you how to attach the zipper! You can sew the main fabrics together and lining fabrics together after attaching the zipper depending on the pattern you work on!

Can you link the self and lining fabric?!
Yes of course! The fabric is sold out at this moment and I’ll get back to you when it becomes available again!

Thanks!
Good video. But what do you do underneath the zipper?
The zipper will be hidden between the lining and the main fabric so you don’t need to worry about it.
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Which fabric is lining? The pattern one?
It’s Mural Cotton Oxford from Dailylike Canada. ☺️
It would’ve been easier to see if you had used a lighter colored zipper😊
👌👌👏👏👍👍😍😍😍🤗
