I thought it would be helpful to have one video of all the neckline tutorials handy in one spot (click save and add it to your sewing tips playlist) :) Hope this video helps you and your sewing therapy!
Hi Sara, I have finished my Georgia dress pattern but my neck binding is not sitting property, any idea why its happening? Please help I don't want to ruin my beautiful dress.
The name Sewing Therapy is such a great fit for this channel, because I just watched this video and it’s so beautiful and useful and esthetic 🥰 it is a pleasure to watch
I have scrapped SO many projects because I never get clean necklines, and have been so frustrated with this "plateau" in my sewing skills. This video was SO wonderfully helpful!!! I'm off to cut some more bias strips and try again with these techniques! Thank youuuuu!!!
This is a very informative video. I learned quite a bit from you. Your instructions are easy to follow and the results look very professional. My favourite was the first one, the contrasting bias strip showing adds an interesting finish. Can you please tell me what the clips you were using are called?
Is it possible there needs to be a correction on the knit band. Iron seams open and fold "wrong" side together? Thanks v much Sarah. Great summary video.
@@SewingTherapy can you tell me more about your sewing machine? Or do you have a video on that? I have many years of sewing experience and am ready to leave my basic Janome machine. Which I do love BTW but it does not do one-step buttonholes!
Stretching the bias tape slightly helps it conform better to a curved neckline. But for the bias facing, folding it in naturally causes the bias binding to stretch, so there's no need to stretch it further.
Thank you for such a comprehensive tutorial on sewing neckline. I can see why you prefer facing, as it looks so sophisticated on woven garments. When you stitched the facing to the bodice, what seam allowance did you use? My pattern calls for 0.5cm and didn't tell to snip along the neckline, only the corners.I guess SA has to be at least 1cm in order to snip along the neckline as you showed.
oooh this is so beautifully done! thanks for this!!! ❤ when I topstich/understitch my jersey neckline it still gets a little wavy - do you have any tips for fixing this?
I have been subscribed to you for a while but am just seeing this video. The first one is my favorite. I struggle with knit neckbands. I see the 85% formula, add 1" seam allowance but what do we use to sew the neckband? That's not mentioned in the video. Thanks.
Sara, this is a great video. Thank you! I'm sewing a linen top. I've tried 5 times to sew the neckline. It keeps sticking away from my body. It's stand up rather than lay flat. What could be the problem? What could I be doing wrong?
Yes, it was on a bias. I'm not sure what went wrong. I took it apart and sewed my neckline many, many times and eventually managed to sew something decent. Thank you so much for all your videos. You are great!@@SewingTherapy
This happens to me too@@WanderlustYk . I think the problem should be in the amount of pulling we do when sewing the bias tape, because when I follow patterns that have bias tape into the pattern (as in specific length), it tends to stay closer to the body better.
@@pinkpolites I'm not sure what fixed it. I took it apart many, many, many times and eventually it worked. Did you cut it on a bias? Are you pulling too much on it?
I have a question. When you topstich on the knit stretchy fabric, did you use a straight stich and of so wont it snap as a straight sritch doesnt stretch?
I subscribe but i have suggestion .You video is so small that i could hardly see because it was cover with your fingers during the process of the sewing

Thank you. So neat, I liked them all....and your clips to hold fabrics together. Looks like they're better to use than pins for this.

Why do you stretch the bias tape for the first neckline but not the second?
Stretching the bias tape slightly helps it conform better to a curved neckline. But for the bias facing, folding it in naturally causes the bias binding to stretch, so there's no need to stretch it further.

Exactly! My seam allowance is usually 1cm, and I prefer to clip all the rounded corners when sewing a facing to prevent any wiggles.

Try different lengths of stitches! ☺️
I like the black blouse you are dresser nice
Thank you! That is my new M8312!
Thanks for the tips! What is that little tool that you use to flatten the bias in the first demonstration- it has a very pointy tip.
It's a tailors' awl!
Thank you for this video. May I ask in the first example with the neck binding, do you stitch in the ditch for the final seam around?
I didn’t. What I did is edgestitching.
@@SewingTherapy Thank you so much. ☺
Thank you. Which one of the 3 would you recommend for the double gauze fabric?
It all depends on your skill level and preference! #2 might be the trickiest with double gauze fabric, unlike the other fabrics.
Thank you very much

You can use any ribbing or stretch fabric for the neckline.
@@SewingTherapy I meant to ask, "What is the seam allowance?" Do I use the seam allowance that the pattern calls for?
Aoa... I m from Pakistan ❤❤❤ I really appreciate to u ur work😊😊😊❤

Straight stitch with longer stitch length would work perfectly!
