    I'm in the middle of making my wedding dress and I realized I've never actually tried to put an invisible zipper into a lined garment before! This tutorial was super clear and easy to understand, and now I'm not nearly as afraid to add my zipper to my dress 😅
    Edit: My wedding dress is finished and the zipper looks great!

    Oh goodness! So it’s probably been 12 years since I put in an invisible zipper. I thought it was no big deal because I’d done it so many times, but not in a long time. I have one half of the first side of the zipper sewn in, but it doesn’t seem right, although it looks ok. I decided I’d better refresh my brain so I watched your video. Oopsie! Looks like I’ll be spending a few minutes with my seam ripper. Thanks!

    This was amazing to watch. I just recently made a dress with a skirt lining (using your tutorial on that) for my daughter and I was pretty pleased with it except for how the zipper turned out. So many things I did wrong! Fortunately the zipper is on the side so it is not so noticeable. I am now planning to take the dress back and see if I can fix it. Thank you so, so very much. Love this dress. I am making a sleeveless linen dress with a flared skirt, petticoat to be worn under it. When adding a lining of lawn to the bodice do I need to use main fabric facings at the top of the lining or can I just use lining fabric cut from the dress pattern pieces. With lining does it not need interfacing at the sweetheart neckline and arms?

    First off, I have given up on the two blouses I told you I was working on, trying to make them larger to fit me. But, I'm not giving up on sewing something for me to wear. 😉 A week or so ago, I bought a couple of dresses from an online site. I loved how they looked in the pictures, but, when I finally received them and tried them on, I found out how I need to lengthen the bodice area of both of them. Do you have a video about doing such ? Also, I'm gonna try to insert a lining and a zipper at the back of those dresses. Lots I'm wanting to do, huh ? Rundown is : Lengthen the bodice of both dresses; add a lining to at least the upper part of both dresses; and, add a zipper to the upper back of both dresses. Am gonna try my best to get some matching fabric to be able to lengthen them. And, hopefully, i will be able to do it all without having to "give - up" on them. Wish me luck, please. As always, love your channel bunches, dear. Happy sewing to you. 🥰❣️😻

    Great tutorial. I often have issues with zippers matching on both sides where the bodice seam connects to the skirt, but it looks like when the zipper tape is placed all the way at the top on both sides, then the zipper matches at the waistline.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia 6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful. It can be tricky to get zippers to match perfectly, but placing the zipper tape all the way at the top is definitely a good tip to keep in mind.

    • @TaDarling1
      @TaDarling1 2 месяца назад

      Since this tutorial recommends keeping the lining 'out of the way' of the bodice when inserting the zipper, I find it easier to stop my understitching about an inch or so before I reach the end of the neckline. It allows me to keep that lining fabric at the end of the neckline separate from bodice as I install the zipper. Once the zipper's inserted, I can always go back and finish unstitching the lining all the way to the end of the neckline, if necessary.

    Thank you this is so helpful. I do have a question. The instructions on the invisible zipper package says you should iron or press the coil fold open with an iron. Is this an important first step? I noticed you did not mention to do this step.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia 11 месяцев назад +2

      I highly suggest not ironing your zipper open. It ruins the coils & bends them out of place & the zipper will come apart while you are wearing it. I know it says that but it’s a bad direction in my opinion. Just hold the teeth open while you sew.

    • @Angel283
      @Angel283 9 месяцев назад +2

      Ironing melts or distorts those nylon zippers. I don't recommend it at all

  • @Swondine

    This was so helpful! Since my brain can't really comprehend the skirt part though, is it possible to do a tutorial for what it would look like if you did have a lining for the skirt? :D Thank you!!

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes of course! All you do though is just keep sewing all the way down the zipper and lining. Like sew the waist of the bodice and skirt lining 1st then do the zipper lining.

  • @89Linna

    Wonderful video! The lining part has me stuck tho as I have a fully lined gown and at waist large part of the lining is stitched to it's main fabric counterpart, so I can't open it in this way to sew the lining part to the zipper.. trying to figure out how to attach it now...

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia 7 месяцев назад +1

      You will need to un stitch the waist lining. They did that after so you need to work backwards when altering something.
