AF Learning 1 is also a good one to monitor. It will let you know if fuel is being added or removed which can clue you into intake leaks or failing fueling components or sensors.
Fantastic video, i bought a WRX, and i received a cobb AP has gift, wish i can buy a sti, unfortunately no longer on prod. I look everywhere on net and you tube to figure out the AP. I watch your videos, simply outstanding man!!! Keep going on making such informative and interesting content! Thank you….
Anybody can learn so much from your videos man. I currently do not have an AP or a tune, I still have warranty so really didn’t wanna mess with that to much but when it’s time it’s good to know I can always go back to your videos, no matter what I plan on doing with my car to find the info I need. As always, great video and looking forward to the next!!
I'm glad I found this video cause I was low-key freaking out the other day when I got -1.4 on the feedback knock. Just bought my WRX and it had some mods done to it with all paperwork to show what was done...glad it's normal.
I’m so glad I found your channel. I can’t stand reading or even audible books 😂🤣 but for the past almost a week now I’ve been watching every one of your videos and absorbing so much detail and information it’s crazy. Thanks a lot man!!!
Great info here bro, I really appreciate it. It's hard for me to trust what values are "normal" or not without hearing the throttle condition (WOT, light throttle, or idle). According to Cobb, the DAM is within "normal" behavior at 0.6-1.0 on the FA20DIT during all throttle conditions. On feedback and fine knock, 0 is normal at idle and corrections of 0-4 at other throttle conditions. I just installed mine last week with a Stage 1 +BigSF 93 tune and my DAM went to .75 and then .83 and back to .75 during some spirited driving today. Also seeing the feedback and fine knock hit -2.88 at throttle conditions other than idle. At idle they will always return to 0. I'm trying to understand what is truly normal, and what is potentially harmful. Lol sorry for the long comment, but you seem to know your stuff, and I could always use some input.
No worries! If I ever see DAM drop and feedback knock increase its a good sign something is going on. I don't generally pay much attention to fine knock learn or AF correction but they Re also good gouges to keep an eye on. If you see increased knock without DAM changing it could be a rattle, heat shield thats loose, road noise or bumps. Don't let the anxiety port push you too far. Just use it as a reference
@@Smeedia so an update, my DAM went back to 1.000, feedback and fine knock don't fluctuate nearly as often, and this is while still driving spirited lol. I guess the ECU had to learn :)
I was driving today. dam dropped to .859, then I had a constant fine knock learn at and low load 1.05 to 0 to .37 constant at 2 and half rpm never going back to 0. Never had feedback knock 2.45 but never changed in a 45 min drive
According to Cobs website "zDEBUG are a series of monitors that are occasionally used by COBB staff to aid in diagnosis. Should support require their use, COBB will specify which monitors to log." So i would assume the zDEBUG is for COBB only diagnostics.
Just bought a 2003 wrx with 91k original miles and I swear since I’ve got the AP set up I’m constantly finding myself looking at it and making sure my values are good 😅
Planning on buying a used 2015 sti and I’m trying to see if I can use the port to my advantage and best of my ability . See if anything’s wrong . Thanks for the vid
My dam went to .750 today and anxiety went through the roof. Knock is normal at 1.41 or 2.81 so I’m not going to worry too much. Hoping just fuel issue or cause it was wicked hot today
I installed an APv3 on my 19 Sti this morning. I run 94 OCT which Cobb says is like ACN91 trash fuel. Fair enough. Subie mechanic at the dealership who owns a 20 STi tells me..."never run lower than 94 man". I install Cobb's Stage 1 ACN91/CAD94 LGW map and on the way to work this morning, I notice I'm getting -1.4 feedback knock, DAM is steady at 1.00. Hit a safe little dead end street to see what is happening at WOT. It hit 18.2lbs of boost which is a bit high for LWG, feedback knock and DAM are steady, -1.4 (I watched it hit that live right around 5000k) and DAM at 1.00. Understanding thanks to you, that hitting -1.4 is "normal", should I even bother trying the Normal Waste Gate map? I plan to get a pro dyno tune, but back logs are ridiculous. I am installing the SF+ intake this weekend and will go to the appropriate tune, starting at low waste. Should I go to 91OCT tune? 91 Shell V-Power and Canadian Tire 91 fuel is top tier rated, but it's 0 ethanol which I damn well know is better for knock reduction.
Dude thanks for this! After my ProTune I had no idea what to look for in my Accessport once they hooked it up! P.S. got in an accident last night with my Celica (100% other drivers fault) and this really helped when laying in bed this morning recovering. I’m new to all of this and was wondering if you have a video of what to monitor when on flex fuel. My damn changes when ever I give it gas and goes back to zero when off of it. Currently my af learn 1 is positive and negative often and has been low double digits.
@@Smeedia I saw -34 and positive 30s last week and then I cleaned my mass air flow sensor, the map sensor and my air filters. Now the car is running low double digits but only sometimes.
I just bought a 2021 wrx only have 4K left on the car as well as 4K miles on it 😂 I installed some axel backs and bought the V3 AP and it’s literally just sitting here because I’m not going to settle for a ots tune or a Etune and being in SoCal there’s really only 1 place I know being a reputable pro-tuner shop, I’m so crossed between if I should stay within warranty or just void the thing 😓 Im also skeptical on a 91 tune, to my understanding FA’s do better on flex fuel? Idk so much anxiety, so many questions 😅
Etunes are fantastic options my man! My 650WHP 05 STI was Etuned and it was perfect. Just need to contact a few e tuners that can help! But if you want a dyno tune that's also a good option 🔥 They do love some E85 🔥
Just got pro-tuned before the cobb update goes into effect and tuners said if I have issues let him know but he set my Ap to read Intake temp manifold, Dam, feedback knock the other 3 is Ethanol Final and oil/coolant temp. Should I switch those out and what would I look for? The intake temp manifold is the one I have no idea where it should be hanging at. It’s a 2019 Wrx.
Those monitors are fine, intake temp should be abive ambient. If idling it will start to climb. But when driving it maybe be around +10 from outside temp
@@Smeedia it came out of the Dyno at 144 and been there all day and in traffic got as high as 180? Is that normal? Can a loose brake calliper be picked up as a knock by the sensor? I am getting DAM values in the range of .37 to .44. I have a 2015 WRX Limited, and I just bought a Cobb access port and I am using the 91 octane map. The car runs well, and certainly runs much better than it did with the stock map. From the video and the comments I can appreciate that the DAM is very important, but that it can also be thrown off by noise coming from loose heat shields, etc. unfortunately, no one has been able to figure out where the clunk comes from when I go over a bump without the brakes applied. It looks like I’m stuck with this clunk for some time. Could that be throwing off the DAM or is that range of low values so concerning that I should immediately get it looked at? The only other thing I’ve noticed since changing the matter is that my gas mileage is about 15% worse.
Hey quick question I have no feedback knock but I’m getting fine back learn at 3k rpm’s around 2k and my dam isn’t dropping but I’m getting -1.40 and -0.35
I see you comment on most comments you receive, no matter how old the video may be, but do you have any recommendations on etunes? I'm nothing more than a "stage 1+" with the Cobb ots 91 tune. (Live in SD, can't get any 93 around here. Looking to go e85 sooner or later, but the kits are spendy). Anyway, I don't trust the ots times too much, but don't have too many places around me that can tune subies properly.

Hey man I need help… 😞 So I purchased my STI 2017 not to long ago. And I just got my accessport. I installed it and everything else as far as values look good but my DAM is at 0.500 not at 1.000 Car drives great! No knocks anywhere. I havent filled my car with gas yet, and the dealer from where I purchased did an oil change and filled up my tank of gas full. Thats where Im at right now. i just picked up a 2015 WRX and started modifying it. This was an awesome video for me. I'm also curious about what mount you have for your AccessPort?
Where can I look to see what the values should be for a 2020 wrx..I looked on cobb and I can't find the list..im looking for hopefully a list that says what each gauge monitor is with what the associated value is next to it... Just had a protune done and I have no clue what I'm looking at lol
Do you have a video of a reliability build? Like if you were to modify a car but go for the best reliability for the wrx/sti platform what mod path you would specifically do and specifically avoid? Would be curious to see that!
What’s up brother! I want to know how i can get data log and visualize gauges without having to download a map…. I was running stage 1 from cobb but i got a pro tune directly to the icu. But I’m trying to use the accessport but it won’t let me bypass the part i have to download a map from it
Love watching the vids I have a 2003 WRX with stage 2 and a Cobb tuner, however have you ever had a issue with the access port not turning on, now I haven't drove the car in a year but I did turn it on from time to time and the port worked but now it Dosent turn what's your best advise for it and I have called Cobb but they always seem to be closed when I call
If you get a diffrent one it doesn't hurt to add a bung with an IAT Sensor to get accurate readings. But if the question is still IAT vs manifold temp, manifold temp will be a little more accurate but I wouldent trust it too much
@@Smeedia Yea, I was trying to decide between that and the "Tuff" SKU. Sounded like Stage 2 was all I "needed". At some point, I'll head back in for the tune against the re-build!
I have a 2015 STi that was protuned by the previous owner with his access port. When I bought the car of course the AP that was used to tune the car didn’t come with it. Would it be okay to use a brand new access port on the car to monitor it?
You'll need a new accessport and tune. When prior owners take their accessport with them they have to unmarry it, when you unmarry it, it revets back to stock tune
So I have an ‘05 that’s had quite the amount of work done to it prior to my purchasing of it. It was built and tuned professionally and the car drives great. I just learned about DAM and decided to put that on my V3 monitor. It reads 1.0 like it should for every other sti that’s not my generation. What would be a reasonable explanation for this? Is it fair to think that maybe the ECU was changed in this car with the IAG short block? It’s a Tuff 2 short block so idk if that build would represent itself differently to the access port or what. Idk. Just looking for some guidance to know how I should be looking at this
So I was driving up a big hill and it knocked -2.4 on the fine knock learn, nothing on feedback knock but dam dropped to .750..... is something wrong? 2016 wrx
My dam dropped below 8. Something and now it’s went back up around 8. Something and my feedback knock is fine but my feedback knock learn hit 9. Something and goes back to 0 when it’s not being pulled any ideas ?
I just got my accessport today! Im so freaking excited, now just need a downpipe and Ill be ready to schedule my protune. Do you ever use the anti-theft MAP? Im guessing flashing the ECU every night before I go to bed with it isnt realistic, lol. Im just paranoid where I live, I had my 2003 Bugeye stolen last year from in front of my house. Which did eventually lead to my 2017 WRX, so good and bad.
Hello, just flashed stage 1 acn 91 on my 21 Sti yesterday and no issues drives good. Today I went in a short drive and the access port had a -2.80 fine knock learn it registered. However dam was 1 and feedback knock was 0. Is that normal? I had not used boots and was driving normal on city streets 88 degrees outside.
@@Smeedia so it doesn’t have nothing to do if your pushing your car to hard or you have to take it easy because when i’m shifting into 4th gear and taking it easy it does nothing but when i go faster than usual it does that and my dads co worker said when that happens it means u gotta take it easy
@@Smeedia thank you so much. I have aos , coolant mod and stage 1 plus ots tune on my 2020 Sti , my feedback knock is at 0.00 but my fine knock learn is at -2.80 through -3.85. DAM has stayed 1.000.

I have a 2016 wrx. I just install tgv deletes and now D.A.M has gone down to a .875 and the car has random hiccups? What could it be ive double check my hoses and there’s no air escaping?

Is it worth taking it to a tuning shop and just having them go through it? Money is tight af I’m trying to trouble shoot but damn this just took the wind out of my sails immediately.
Um -5.60 for fkl is not good. -1.41 for either fkl or kfb are acceptable. Anything further down from that and there may be an issue. What's your dam at? Is it still 1.00? Dam is extremely important to monitor. Anything less than 1.00 and your wrx will run like shit and could potentially have catastrophic consequences. Not trying to scare you, but I would hate to see anyone's wrx/sti throw a rod or have ring failure because they ran their car out of proper parameters

Hey I've got question I just installed the cobb AP and checked the stats of car I recently bought. Knocks are at 0, AFR is at 14.7 but I got DAM at 0.500. The car is throwing o2 sensor code. I actually did a 750 miles drive way back after I got it so I dont there is something tragic going on. Can bad o2 sensor affect the DAM? Long term fuel trim is at 9% so the timing belt might be up for change soon.
If its a bad front O2 sensor then yes it can and that would also effect fuel trims. If you just uploaded a map onto thr car that can cause dam to start at .500. As you drive the car it should climb to 1.00 though
@@Smeedia thanks for the quick answer, as soon as I finish restoring the car Ill take it outta garage for a spin and check under load ( 05 STI blue/gold
Smeedia dam stays at 1.0 always and fine knock learn doesn’t change ever. just the feedback knock, sometimes if under certain conditions it will go to around 5 for a while
There are a handful of things it could be, bad fuel, tune related. Weather changing, air pressure drop. I would start with fuel. If you've got bad has in the car run it down and try a different station. Sometimes water can get into under ground tanks. If that's not it send logs to your tuner to see if they can spot any irregularities in the tune
Opinions on how accurate the boost readings on the MFD are? I usually compare that and AP readings and they’re usually within 1-2 points off each other.
Comparing them I've always seen the OE display read slightly lower or can't keep up accordingly. The signal has to be read, sent to the ECU then set to the display

I can read everyone's minds 👀 lol jk but glad that it was perfect timing for everyone! Figured that this would be a good one to get out there! 😁😁
Smeedia What steering wheel you running? I dig the alcantera.
Just got my 2016 wrx right where I want it and this channel has been amazing and has taught me a lot.
Eyyyy glad the videos have helped 🥳
getting an AP can be bewildering videos like this help a lot
Wanted to try and clear up the air a little bit with them but thank you for the feedback and support! 🔥
AF Learning 1 is also a good one to monitor. It will let you know if fuel is being added or removed which can clue you into intake leaks or failing fueling components or sensors.
Another solid value to moniter, I peek at it every now then 🔥but can also help to diagnose issues
Thank you….
Hey dude, I’ve been watching your content for years now and finally installed an AP after having my 2018 STI since 2017. Just wanted to say thanks!
The info will be here waiting for you my friend! Dont blame you for not wanting to void the warranty. Appreciate the feedback and support my man! 🔥😁
Smeedia hell yeah!! Always excited to what’s next👍🏻
Best Subie channel on here
I just bought a new 2020 STI, this is my first one and I have learned so much about this car from your channel, thank you for your videos!!!
Congrats on the car and glad the videos have helped 😁🙏
As a new scooby owner and a new accessport owner, this is great stuff
Eyyyy, congrats on the new car 🔥
I'm glad I found this video cause I was low-key freaking out the other day when I got -1.4 on the feedback knock. Just bought my WRX and it had some mods done to it with all paperwork to show what was done...glad it's normal.
Totally normal values 🤌 congrats in the car btw!
@@Smeedia that's helpful, I figured if there was something serious going on, a CEL would have BEEN showed up, correct?
Yessir 😁
@@Smeedia so an update, my DAM went back to 1.000, feedback and fine knock don't fluctuate nearly as often, and this is while still driving spirited lol. I guess the ECU had to learn :)
Glad that it corrected itself 😁🔥
I was driving today. dam dropped to .859, then I had a constant fine knock learn at and low load 1.05 to 0 to .37 constant at 2 and half rpm never going back to 0. Never had feedback knock 2.45 but never changed in a 45 min drive
- 2.45 I meant
AF Learning 1 is also important. It shows if you have a vacuum/boost leak, if your fuel system has issues, or if your MAF/O2 sensor takes a crap.
Also a good value to monitor 🔥 perfect for trouble shooting also
@@Smeedia Exactly
“Inch hilligrams” I’m dead 😂 it’s inches of Mercury, which is used for pressure. (Hg is the symbol for mercury on the periodic table)
Was having a brain fart that night 🤣🤣🤣
no, it shall now forever be known as Inch Hilligrams from this point on.
According to Cobs website "zDEBUG are a series of monitors that are occasionally used by COBB staff to aid in diagnosis. Should support require their use, COBB will specify which monitors to log." So i would assume the zDEBUG is for COBB only diagnostics.
Thanks for pulling that! Had never seen those parameters before.
@@Smeedia no problem dude! I may throw on a couple of those on my AP and see what they're actually monitoring
I am taking notes as you speak. Thank you for sharing.
Dude, thank you so much! I just bought my first 2018 WRX premium. I’m new to the car world and this video has helped me so much.
Eyyyy glad that it could help and congrats on the car!
good little trick for the camera i like that he put up that black sheet

Just bought a 2003 wrx with 91k original miles and I swear since I’ve got the AP set up I’m constantly finding myself looking at it and making sure my values are good 😅
Lol just don't let it stress you out 😅🙏 congrats on the bug eye!
Planning on buying a used 2015 sti and I’m trying to see if I can use the port to my advantage and best of my ability . See if anything’s wrong . Thanks for the vid
Anytime and hopefully your able to find the right one!
I just got my accesssport and my dam is sitting at 0.688… should I be worried?
Did you recently reset ECU learning? 🙏
@@Smeedia No how do I do that? Sorry I’m completely new to this.
Have you flashed a tune onto the car or disconnected the battery? When doing so it will take thr ECU a little while to re calibrate.
I flashed it with the stage zero since I’m still waiting on my intake to come in and wanted to be able to monitor the car
Mine is reading this too recently, did you find anything out about it?
now this is what i call high quality content
🙌🙌🙌
My dam went to .750 today and anxiety went through the roof. Knock is normal at 1.41 or 2.81 so I’m not going to worry too much. Hoping just fuel issue or cause it was wicked hot today
Just keep an eye on it and monitor, based off those readings I'd say bad fuel
This just educated me so well. Just got my first subie and accessport was the first mod I got , thank you for a great video
Glad it helped and congrats on the car! 😁
Dude thanks for this! After my ProTune I had no idea what to look for in my Accessport once they hooked it up!
P.S. got in an accident last night with my Celica (100% other drivers fault) and this really helped when laying in bed this morning recovering. Keep the content coming man it means a lot to people like me
Really appreciate the feedback and the support, sorry to hear about the celica and accident 😫 hopefully nothing to messed up and you have a speedy recovery. Glad that the video helps to understand the Valuss a little more 😁
I’m new to all of this and was wondering if you have a video of what to monitor when on flex fuel. My damn changes when ever I give it gas and goes back to zero when off of it. Currently my af learn 1 is positive and negative often and has been low double digits.
What values are you seeing in AF learn?
@@Smeedia I saw -34 and positive 30s last week and then I cleaned my mass air flow sensor, the map sensor and my air filters. Now the car is running low double digits but only sometimes.
@@Smeedia also did not get a check engine light
But if you want a dyno tune that's also a good option 🔥
They do love some E85 🔥
I was tuned by Taylor from snail so I’d assume he know what he’s doing since he put me on flex fuel E60. Been driving 400 miles since Az back to Cali no problems so far. Maybe I’m just paranoid lol
Your channel is growing so fast! I’m so happy for you, great content, keep it coming!
It's very exciting! The support from everyone is more than motivating. Appreciate the support! 😁
Hey quick question I have no feedback knock but I’m getting fine back learn at 3k rpm’s around 2k and my dam isn’t dropping but I’m getting -1.40 and -0.35
Normally values, nothing to stress 🤝
I see you comment on most comments you receive, no matter how old the video may be, but do you have any recommendations on etunes? I'm nothing more than a "stage 1+" with the Cobb ots 91 tune. (Live in SD, can't get any 93 around here. Looking to go e85 sooner or later, but the kits are spendy). Anyway, I don't trust the ots times too much, but don't have too many places around me that can tune subies properly.

I have my wrx 2013 already tuned last year . So i changed FRONT INTERCOOLER so now D.A.M is 0.560 .
What's need to do ...

Should worry about dynamic adv leaning? 0.50
Where can I look to see what the values should be for a 2020 wrx..I looked on cobb and I can't find the list..im looking for hopefully a list that says what each gauge monitor is with what the associated value is next to it...
Just had a protune done and I have no clue what I'm looking at lol
should i be on low waste gate or high waste gate stage 1+ tune? i have the sf intake, awe catback exhaust and an IAG AOS. 2021 sti
Personally on OTS Maps I'd say low wastegate
Hey man just catching up on some of your videos but here goes another question should you buy a used access port or just get one new
They're worth it but 100% verify it is unmarried and your buying from a reputable seller
@@Smeedia right on for the good info. Love the videos bro. I been learning a lot.
Do you have a video of a reliability build? Like if you were to modify a car but go for the best reliability for the wrx/sti platform what mod path you would specifically do and specifically avoid? Would be curious to see that!
I've got you 🙌
ruclips.net/video/V-OzkojIVJM/видео.html
What’s up brother! I want to know how i can get data log and visualize gauges without having to download a map…. I was running stage 1 from cobb but i got a pro tune directly to the icu. But I’m trying to use the accessport but it won’t let me bypass the part i have to download a map from it
Are you referring to downloading thr map from the car to the AP or from thr AP to the car? 🙏
What if you see a lot of fine knock learn but rarely see feedback knock?
At idle my air fuel ratio is bouncing from 14.36 to 14.24 any idea what i can do to fix this or if its bad?
Completely normal, you'll never have an AFR that sits perfect at 14.7. Nothing to worry about 😁
What about sport and sport sharp? After a reflash.... do these settings do anything? 2020 STi
It does that with my Golf R where it won't always auto turn on 😤
Is it not turning on at all or just sometimes?
Not turning on at all it turn on once about 6 months ago but hasn't since and it use to work great
Would it be better to monitor the intake air temp or the intake temp manifold?
I'd suggest IAT if you have an additional sensor added in. Otherwise it'll just pull temp off of the MAF before it passes through the intercooler
@@Smeedia sweet thank you. I dont have any additional sensors in. What about with an aftermarket intercooler? Still top mounted.
If you get a diffrent one it doesn't hurt to add a bung with an IAT Sensor to get accurate readings.
But if the question is still IAT vs manifold temp, manifold temp will be a little more accurate but I wouldent trust it too much
@@Smeedia again thank you. Have had my wrx on stage 2+ for a couple years and always looking for ways to keep a better eye on it.
And subbed! Maybe those knock settings could have saved me.. but am rocking iag stage 2 short block now!
Good block choice! 🔥😁
Also appreciate the support!!!
My 09 STI just popped a -7.00 knock feedback? Never done it before. Should I worry?
Any change to your DAM?
Yo!!! What wheels are you running? Those rims look sooo clean!
Qork emotion D9R 🤙
What if I have fine knock learn between -1 through -5 and my DAM is staying at 1 consistently?
2016 wrx
Not necessarily, could be an isolated event. Keep an eye on DAM it should rise back up 🙏

Im guessing flashing the ECU every night before I go to bed with it isnt realistic, lol. Im just paranoid where I live, I had my 2003 Bugeye stolen last year from in front of my house. Which did eventually lead to my 2017 WRX, so good and bad.
I wouldent suggest doing it every night but I mean you can if you'd like to lol. And congrats on the AP! Fun Jd helpful tool to be able to use!!!!
My 2020 wrx is running great but my DAM is always at zero. I have full boost. Not sure what is going on. I’m using OTS stage 1.

why does it mean when your cobb access port bubbles goes yellow and flashes red ? i’m new to this
It's just a gauge for the monitors 🙏
@@Smeedia so it doesn’t have nothing to do if your pushing your car to hard or you have to take it easy because when i’m shifting into 4th gear and taking it easy it does nothing but when i go faster than usual it does that and my dads co worker said when that happens it means u gotta take it easy

Do you think if I’m getting -1.4 feedback knock and -5.60 fine knock learn. That i should worry or not?
I get -5.xx feedback and -1.41 learn. I'm not worried any
Um -5.60 for fkl is not good.
Also i did read on cobb it can be affected by reflashing the map? I run the monitors after installing stage 0 map on my car
If its a bad front O2 sensor then yes it can and that would also effect fuel trims. If you just uploaded a map onto thr car that can cause dam to start at .500. As you drive the car it should climb to 1.00 though

hey i get mind of like -5.2. and sometimes more but only for a moment or 2 and wondering how long it’s gotta be before it’s worrysome
If DAM and feedback knock both change, that's an indicator there is something wrong
Smeedia dam stays at 1.0 always and fine knock learn doesn’t change ever. just the feedback knock, sometimes if under certain conditions it will go to around 5 for a while
Hi,what accessport should I buy for my 2011 sti..?
I belive its the sub 003
How do you diagnose what’s wrong if your D.A.M is dropping and you are hitting feedback knock. (FA20, 30,000 miles, stage 2 pro tune)
