Now this is what I've been waiting for, single player campaign, enhanced difficulty, cooperative missions, polished graphics, minimal bugs and leader boards, I AM IN! As always, another informative and thorough review. Thanks dude!
"campaign" should be taken lightly. There's no real story and the missions are extremely repetitive
@@fitgiddlin21 As Bryan's apt assessment of the overall experience clearly points out, the similarities to Time Crisis are apparent. Yes, it may not have a lengthy campaign, but like eating ice cream, I may repeat that action many times throughout life, but I never get bored of it. So, bring on the Crossfire Sierra Squad brain freeze!
@@MountainManGamingPSVRWell I'll be Damn if you didn't make a GREAT point. 👍👍👍👍👍 I never thought to think of things that way. I really want more PCVR games to come over but updated for PSVR2. I really want to play Blood and Truth with these new controllers and hopefully one day Half Life Alyx. This year I'm really looking forward to Arizona Sunshine 2 ❗The original plus Robo Recall is what made me a Vr believer. I hope we get another showcase for Vr titles coming soon er than later 🙏
@@fitgiddlin21
Military shooter campaigns in general rarely have much story, not much of a point.
It’s great for a $30 price point which definitely plays a huge part in expectations and it blows me away
I caved yesterday. Watched this review and a few others and actually found myself pacing up and down in my kitchen for like an hour and then thought. Sod it, I'm getting one! 😂 I'm now part of the club and man alive! I couldn't be happier. Great piece of kit!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!
Great review Bryan. 🙌💙
This shit looks sick!
Reminds me on the good old lightgun-days in the 90,s and early 2000's like timecrisis, house of dead and something.. straight fun ❤
Great review! Exactly the same thoughts I had about this game, expected a big budget Time Crisis style game and it delivered exactly that, it's just really fun.
Thanks for this review! Inspired me to buy the game when I was on the fence - played the first 3 levels, really enjoying it! This a great game for the more causal gamer crowd who isn’t trying to master reload mechanics 😅
Yup. This was the confirmation I was looking for. Buying it today 🔥
As someone who grew up on playing arcade shooters....this game has so far answered the call. Enjoying it so far.
Blood and Truth delivered some pretty good cinematic experience with good mission variety, including inside vehicles.
When I first loaded Crossfire up the first thing that came to mind was how great Blood and Truth will be once it has the Wanderer upgrade treatment in place.
@@deadringer28
I wouldn't count on any 1st party PlayStation titles getting upgraded.
Why is that? @@Alex_Logan22
@@deadringer28That would happen if Sony cared and London Studios didn’t abandon VR.
I'm loving this game,if only firewall could have weapons like this, they feel and aim just right.
Came back here to just say.. Bryan, its really heartening to see that you've lost none of your enthusiasm and sense of wonder for VR. Where others have perhaps become jaded or allow their own expectations to get in the way of what is actually presented to them, you always review a game as it IS, not what you thought it should be.
Now, in this particular case, some people are saying the studio may have given a false impression in their promotional material of what this game plays like, and if that's true then that may be a problem, BUT regardless it is still wise to review a game as you find it, and not with preconceptions.
In short, I'm hyped for this game and can't wait to play a quality arcade shooter.
Also.. weird bug, likes are stuck on 1.
Thanks for the review Bryan. I have a feeling this is going to be my go-to Shooter. I love everything you have described and my download has just completed.
I was on the fence about getting this, but it’s great fun. Visuals and performance are really good. Guns look, sound and feel great. I love the zoom on the sights.
What. A. Game. Really, REALLY good shooting game. Exactly what I wanted. I used to load up Pavlov for a bit of fun and sure to go back to it sometime but just for fun shooting, this hits the spot for me. Looks clean and crisp, great sound and I like the mostly automated reload. Perhaps a manual will be an option in the future but auto is fine. Enjoyable 'campaign' but oh my, the tonnes of Squad missions are fab - currently on series 3 of I think there's 8. Brrrrrrrrting a bad guy on ful auto never gets old and popping heads with the Deagle at close to mid range is just awesome. Erm, and how many updates have the devs done already so quickly after launch. Played a mission last night, it was raining and the reflections and detail on the gun were stunning. Really happy to be giving this game some love and appreciative of your work Bryan.
Great review! Love the time crisis comparison! Definately felt the same way!
I think I might have to buy this game
You should it so much fun! :)
I just did. 😮
@@leeroy983and? Good?
@@Pla_nic it is mate. It's a shooting gallery and it has some bugs but it's getting daily updates. The detail on the guns is brilliant. Basic reloading. But it's fun and works well. 8/10
Out of all the military shooters we've been having lately this is the one that I'm most excited to play
💯
Because its the one most like COD
Was waiting for this review before buying. So stoked it came so close to launch! Thank you Bryan
This is what i want more of on PSVR2, more high quality arcade shooters in the vein of house of the dead, time crisis, virtua cop, and of-course more AAA hybrid games ala GT7/RE4/REVIIIage
Cool I was waiting for your review to buy or not and now I will buy it🔥🔥
Glad I didn't put all my eggs on the Firewall basket. In fact, all my eggs were always in the Sierra Squad basket. Gladly spending those 30 scones on this today!
Been incredibly excited for this title ever since the very first reveal trailer dropped last year....Glad to see that the excitement has paid off!
I played firewall again earlier and there had been a patch. Wait in lobbies is not only 30 secs, ads mode is much better too. But Crossfire is great fun.
It sounds promising but I'll wait a week until new game hype dies down, if opinions are still good then, I'll pick it up. I'd still like to see you do an immediate review of Firewall but I respect your reasons for not doing so. My opinion is that if they decide to release a game, then it's open season for reviews on day 1, regardless if they promise to release imminent updates. Consumers need protection. I respect you and your channel, number 1 for me ❤
I agree with you sir. But when developers don't give you review keys it's nearly impossible to find time to get a review done. I'll do my best to get a Firewall review out despite the flood of games coming our way. Also I hope I wasn't too harsh on you during gamescast last night!
@@WithoutParole be as harsh as you want with me Bryan, I'm a big boy I can take it! If I make the decision to express an opinion, then I have to also expect an opinion in return 🙂 keep up the good work dude, I love all you guys 👍
Yeah this game is great! It’s worth going into the options straight away to turn on your off-hand influencing the weapon aim and crouch, which are both puzzling off by default
So glad this turned out to be a banger!!
After the disappointment that is not being able to party-up with friends to play in Firewall Ultra public lobbies, I am so happy to see a quality video review for Crossfire: Sierra Squad where you are clearly able to party up and play 2P co-op mode as well as 4P horde mode. Also happy to hear the progression system is rewarding and that the hardcore mode is available at launch and unlocked by beating the campaign for a different type of player experience.
Still my most trusted source for no bullshit VR Reviews!! Nice One Bryan! Ya never steer us wrong.
My only issue is that you have to play through a bullet sponge mode to unlock realism mode, which I feel should be the default. :/
Other than that this looks like this is a buy for me. Which is great considering the disappointment of firewall.
True, but if you put it on easy you can burn through it in 3 hours to get realism mode unlocked
This looks like fun! After the disappointment that was Firewall, this is very welcomed!
Amen!
Fortunately I wasn't disappointed by firewall and I am buying this so hooray for shooter options.
People without psvr2 really crying right now. This game rocks!!!!!
This is a much more positive impression than I was hearing from people who started streaming it on launch day. Really glad to hear this is a good title with a lot of value. I think a lot of people were expecting it to be more of a traditional campaign shooter, which I could understand leading to disappointment. Seems like there's a lot to love here if you go in with the right expectations.
This or Firewall. After this review compared to Sierra. I’m buying this.
Thank you for getting this review out so early
Was waiting for your review. Will buy it when get in ftom work. Thanks
OK. So a lot more arcadey (and more multiplayer based) than I expected, but still looks a lot of fun.
I like this game. Getting used to auto reload tho but every gun feels great. The gun snapping to your face when you bring it close and the scope taking up the entire screen were probably my only gripes. But this is a much more complete Vr experience than Firewall
This is looking really good, great review thanks Bryan
This looks so much better than I expected it to be
Great review!
I‘m soooo excited and also feel anxious about your experience with the game. I can‘t stop thinking about the bravo team fiasco and simply hope for the best… looking forward to your review!!
Awesome! I was bummed about firewall at first, it kinda grew on me after a week of playing. But this release had me so much more hyped.
...thanks Bryan. That's a relief it's good.
It's downloading now!
Been on my wishlist for month. Can’t wait to give it a try.
Ii just bought the game and i love this game 😊
I have been waiting for this game and firewall ultra to make my first purchase
I'm so glad I didn't get Firewall, I might scoop this though!
Sounds great, this is exactly the sort of thing I look for in an FPS. Was waiting to see how the Pavlov/Firewall/Crossfire thing shakes down, I'm thinking Crossfire
Another great review Bryan. I'm loving this game. Does what I want from a shooter. The guns sound and feel brilliant. Its just a fun game, very playable. Its a buy if you like arcade shooters
Thanks for actually completing the game and putting out your thoughts👍 very informative and concise.. it’s a download for me love a good light shooter
Definitely overselling it. I was hoping for firewall and crossfire to put pavlov to shame in different ways but they both seem half-cocked for now. I do feel you about get your money 4 crossfire but I sure hope to see some fine tuning. And normal multiplayer
@@Brasslantern007 with more time you'd think they could out-do or at bare minimum be at the same level. If they were both just as good as pavlov but firewall focused on a rainbow seige style of gameplay and crossife on having story mode with co op missions I'd be happy. But instead my left hand keeps getting stuck to the gun and the story mode might as well just be added to the co op mode
@@adonisreview7045turn the magnetised setting down and your hand won't stick
@DanPyjamas ah it wasn't in the menu when I started the game at 3am. Looks like they already have made some changes even within the first day. So hopefully it can be great one day
Played it now and have to say (as a Pavlov connoisseur) I'm surprisingly happy with automatic reloads. Sniping mechanics are surprisingly awesome too - didn't expect that. The graphics are awesome, the hardest difficulty is nice, tho I feel like enemies are way too spongy and AI si simply not existing. Had to drop the game tho due to one major flaw I just can't get over - the way hands interact with the gun. The automatic snapping to the guns is basically broken and I can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't allow me to disable that. My hands often get glued to the gun right as I want to reload. Right after reload if the hand automatically grabs, you end up with awkward hand position not reflecting the actual gun position. If you push against obstacles, this gets often amplified and it really feels bad to have hands in so many different positions to point into the same direction in this game (you feel so disconnected from the weapon you are holding...). Waiting for patches as this made the game unplayable for me - every time the hand position gets wanky It basically infuriates me as you suddenly have to focus directly on fixing that by ungrabbing the weapon or whatever else is necessary and amount of times my hand didn't want to let go of the weapon and basically killed me is way too high.
I'm pretty sure with future updates this will be 10 out of 10. Must buy for me
It really does look like a modern take on a light gun game but actually done right! Looking at you Operation Wolf Returns! Vehicles would've made it even better but even so, this looks pretty Rad!
Oh man I'm so glad you brought up Operation Wolf. Operation Wolf Returns is the SAME PRICE AS THIS and doesn't do even 5% of what Crossfire is doing lol
@@WithoutParole Your Kidding?! That looked bloody terrible that did! When you mentioned vehicles all I could think about was Lucky and Wild, remember that old arcade classic? Brilliant that was.
@@johnboydojo DUDE how have i never heard of this game?! I just watched a video online and it looks awesome!!!
@@WithoutParole Hahaha! Not alot of people have plus I'm probably older than you so theirs that too!
Yutaka Kounoe designed it. Done alot for Namco he has.
@@johnboydojonever heard of this either, thanks!
So far I'm loving this game! The co-op is incredibly fun.
Pro tip for anyone experiencing control issues like Ian Higton reported... mess about with the control options. Theres a load of very useful sliders to adjust basically every aspect of the controls.
This game is sublime.
Ok so I noticed several bugs but they managed to fix some with the patch. Good game. 👍👍👍
On Episode 7 It got stuck. I tried to reset the checkpoint and on the 4th try it worked. The door opened.
These are the bugs that can happen but overall a very good game! Very well made. Bugs always happens.🎉😂
Have you've never played a Call of Duty? They've been like this since 2008's Modern Warfare, this is way more COD in VR than Time Crisis.
Awesome game realism mode adds so much. Still go in from time to time on level 57
Birthday is coming up and I’ve been keeping up with coverage/updates with this game. I don’t understand the time crisis comparisons because this game reminds me of Sega’s arcade/wii game Ghost Squad. I’m thrilled to play this when my physical copy comes in later this month.
Glad it didn’t disappoint! I’m excited to play this!
Would have been cool to have a pvp multiplayer
Yeah it would have. But then they'd have spent money on network side and security from hackers. The price of the game would be a lot more making this no longer a good buy.
People forget how much goes into making a game safe for online play. It cost a lot of money to do so.
lets goooo. its starting
Still the best vr reveiws on the net. IMO Thanks Bryan!
I really fancied this game but I don't play online nor do I have PS+ or whatever it's called these days, so am reliant on single player campaigns, and when you said about 3 hours that's it for me, I might pick it up in a sale but not now. Besides, I bought Walkabout Mini Golf last week completely on a whim after your reviews (don't care much for golf whether mini or otherwise) and I'm having a BLAST on that game, really good fun.
Just FYI the Squad Missions (which is the core of the game with 50+ missions, seriously over 10 hours) are also playable in single player. They're way more fun with friends though. Just wanted you to have all the info you needed! :D
@@WithoutParole wow, as if you replied to me 😂 cheers. I could do without recommendations though, my wallet can't take any more 😂
@@WithoutParole one last question - as I have some money left in my PSN wallet - what would you recommend out of this or Red Matter 2? Both games are my thing so it's just a case of whichever one is just "better"
If you're only playing single player? Red Matter 2. It's way shorter with less replay value but it's fantastic while it lasts! :D
@@WithoutParole this personal reply service is top notch and exactly why I subscribe 😂 thanks so much
As always, great Review, Bryan.
It's downloading, can' wait.
it's really a great arcade-like shooter, that fits perfectly on the psvr2. i like the vibe and tone, it doesn't take itself too seriously and has a great 90's lightgun feeling, enhanced by virtual reality, like when one of those tank guys with a giant hammer comes storming at you - just imposing and great. thumbs up.
Great review Bryan. Go on then, I'm in👍👍
This is a fun game, I dont know what the hate is about. Make sure if you are playing with a gun stock though, you turn up the magnetism in the options because otherwise you wont grip a lot of the guns properly, which is fairly annoying but once I figured that out it worked beautifully. Also, I really appreciate that they dont base your movement on how your holding your hands and its just based on the analog stick inputs. Its been driving me nuts how so many of these games have this stupid hybrid movement control system that seems to want to use how your holding your hands and the analog inputs. I dont know why these devs insist on designing it that way. we have the analog sticks for a reason, use them, they work really well, I dont want to have to fucking start moving backwards when my hands are by my side. If I wanted to move backwards I would hold the analog stick down, its that easy, thanks crossfire for not having a stupid movement system, it makes a big difference for my enjoyment of the game.
I care more about the single player part and to know its super short. ill wait till there is a sell. don't want to or care to play with others.
Crossfire…. you’ll be caught up in the, Crossfire….. Crossfire….. Crossfirrrrrrreeeee!!
Heart This comment, for it is glorious.
@@PSVRUNDERGROUNDWhenever I see/hear the word “Crossfire”, that commercial is the first thing that pops into my head…… Some call it crazy, but I……. I call it a god damn gift from the heavens…….

Just looking at this. Thanks for the review.
Yooooo, thought this was another Firewall type game, as soon as Brian mentioned Namco classic this immediately turned into my next PSVR2 purchase.
Ok you have me sold on it. Was a little worried considering crossfire x
This looks more fun than Firewall Ultra honestly! I'll be keeping an eye on a sale for it!
I wanna give this a try but Im kinda doubtful after being disappointed with Crossfire X on Xbox lol.
Nice!! Sounds brilliant. Tho, as is the norm now, feel like i will wait a few weeks to see if they fix some of the issues you mentioned.
Time Crisis you say?
Guess this is a must buy for me then 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the game, great review Bryan!
awesome, btw this game was never marketed as “call of duty vr”. It clearly kept saying “arcade” in the marketing. I like Time Crisis and not needed every shooter to be the “Gran Turismo of Military Games”. Go join the army dude, lol
Yeah it's sad that people are slamming Crossfire because it simply "wasn't what they wanted". Kinda like slamming Gran Turimso because you wanted an arcade racer lol
We need these games and the “ridge racer” smash up. I’m a Millennial and these Gen-Zer’s expect everything to be “The Next Sim”, like dude ..seek therapy. It’s a game. A game you can buy a bag of Doritos, Dip and jam with the homies.😎 ..not for you to be in a Emi-VR sim hoping for the most realistic gore.🥴 Seek a psychiatrist😂🤦🏾♂️
@@WithoutParoleIt would appear shinzor has deleted his comments…? I had a reaponse written-up then has an error when trying to post it to him…
My next one was “ Clearly marketed as a Call of Duty VR? I, for one, don’t expect a Call of Duty VR from it; I am mainly looking forward to a fun game that has co-op missions PvE I can play with friends. Does Crossfire: Sierra Squad even have PvP? I don’t think it does… I have seen all the marketing leading-up to this game and not once was expecting a Call of Duty VR…”
I typed that before seeing nicojames’s post… lol
Let's go! Realism Mode is the only way I'm playing
Glad to hear this game is fun, I was a bit concerned that the last Crossfire game was one of the worst reviewed games of the generation and was really itching for a single player tactical shooter, definitely gonna put this on my list.
Great review as always 🔥🔥🔥
About halfway through the co-op missions and am having an absolute blast. Still baffles how badly received this was by other reviewers at launch, this is one of the stronger non-PVP VR shooters currently out there, with only Zero Calibre giving it a challenge.
Glad to hear it came out good
Yo, REALISM MODE is a totally different experience than 💩arcade mode....a lot of content, low price, 9/10
Is anyone else having the same issue as me ?
Can’t connect to private rooms or play with friends
It finds the host the send you back to the range not in a party
We have tried everything we can think of is anyone else having this or know how to fix it ???
Just got back from work downloading now. I'm glad its good
I was thinking about playing this in realistic mode for the first playthrough. Has anyone tried this with any opinions on the experience?
The patch which allowed this just went live so you might be the first! That said, it's tough. I've only finished half the campaign on Realism Mode because I haven't had time, but it'll be a fun challenge! :D
Yeah, this game doesn't look that bad, I dont know why but beardo was super negative about it, but I think we all lowered our expectations when it came out it was only $30. I think there could be some fun to be had here for a few hours for sure!
Yep, I'm buying
Time Crisis without even a fraction of the style and flair. I love Western developers!
How much have you played so far?
@@WithoutParoleDon't know what they're on about. Particularly given that Smilegate are a South Korean developer.
@@whistletomI stand corrected.
It looks like one though right? Anyone remember how colourful and dumb arcade games used to be though?!
@@WithoutParoleAin't about to drop 30 sheets on something that looks this way man but - I take your point I guess it has an arcade structure right?

Just that you say arcade and realistic military visuals are far from what I think of
No offence I understand what you meant man
Oh yeah! Downloading this right now!
This is the game I was hoping firewall ultra would be. I'm sold!
It makes me so sad so many people are review bombing this on steam... it looks amazing. 💪💪💪
That's because they're not on Sony's ecosystem. Lol 😂 PC master race believers hate Sony.
The lack of a pvp mode kills me :(
Lack of pvp and goofy ass auto reload is an instant no buy for me. Not sure if these devs are comprehending how bad a choice these vr mechanics are. Literally put basic pvp in with tdm, domination, hard point, ffa, capture the flag and have full manual reload options for players who don’t spend their time with a thumb in their ass and a binki in their mouth and the game is literally the top shooter in vr2.
Like, devs, do this:
Settings/ controls/ reload options/ 1. easy (automatic) 2. Hybrid (grab mag near gun to initiate reload animation) 3. Tactical (full manual with assisted visual highlights to know what to do) and 4. Realism (full manual reload)
Holy fuck im an idiot and I can come up with that wtf.
@@Thegooob95that's Pavlov you've just described. This is a game for other people, who aren't being covered at all. Not every game has to meet your exacting specifications
You're literally asking for a different game 🤣
This was a perfect review can you recommend anything similar to this ?
I have the ps5 set up for hardest difficulty, having to beat the game to open up realism mode is a turn off! Why do that?
I heard the Pavlov music at the start
After firewall ultra being disappointing, this really had to be good, glad to see it is! I honestly don’t know what first contact were thinking making that game?
Can u upgrade weapons without multiplayer./psplus.??
Worth it to play alone? Is there reprojection? Motion sickness?
B had to hurry and get the good news out! Good job sir!
