- Despite being a pretty unforgettable experience, The Utility Room on PlayStation VR2 needs a little more polish before we can become fully immersed in its world. REVIEW KEY PROVIDED BY DEVELOPER / PUBLISHER

Thank you,I LOVE experiences,I LOVE the worlds of Paper beast Game and desolation
I totally forgot to finish paper beast. It is a great experience as well.
Seems like a David Lynch film (not a diss). His tone always swings wildly between comedic and disturbing. Often I’d say it’s up to the viewer which tone to accept. Intentional or not, I think this is a mark of people trying something different and I look forward to giving these devs support to do more weird shit. Thanks for the review.
Imagine Eraserhead in VR
@@delgat000 lady in the radiator boss level
I could get into this at $5, but $18 sounds ambitious.
“i ll buy it for a dollar”

rofl 😂🎉😂🎉
...I never forgot that movie line.. I say it all the time in my head when looking at games to buy especially. :)
Love the art style, but yeah, I’ll probably have to wait for a sale 😅
Somehow it reminds a bit of “the web” experience on Dreams, just that there was color and multiple branching ways to make every playthrough unique and let you discover new things each time.
Once it goes a bit down in price I’ll check it out I think
Paul, your reference of Douglas Adams hit me straight in my heart. Have you heard of Midnight Burger? It's a straight up radio drama podcast that you should listen to while you're doing more monotonous VR work. It's amazing. It's like Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy but it's American, contemporary, amazing voice acting and writing as well as consistency and distribution. I know the name sounds stupid... I bet you would love it if you don't already know about it. I love how you try to live in other dimensions. You are inspirational.
Seems more like a dream world simulator.
Looks like something from dreams
Please someone like if you thought of Dali while watching the trailer??
Deeeeeeeeep sale for this one.
Ah that's kind of a shame. It was sort of giving me Separation vibes.
I'll definitely keep my eye on it and pick it up on sale though. Hopefully it also gets a patch or two to smooth out a couple of the rough edges.
Much more positive review than I was expecting. It seems like the journey and I am assuming ending both felt worth going through and the issues are all on technical polish which hopefully can be patched.
Best channel of all time
This sounds like it might be my jam. Gonna check it out. Thanks Bryan!
I’m glad I purchased and played this game before watching this review.. I know the game is short and yeah it’s not perfect but it’s truly an experience. The price point that was suggested is lower than a movie ticket which is just insulting.
I mostly agree with you and hopefully I expressed what a great experience it was - with some truly memorable moments. Hopefully the dev is able to fix the issues to make it more immersive. I'm glad you enjoyed it through and didn't let the things that bothered me bother you :D
Great review as always. Something worth keeping an eye on is that new Five Nights at Freddy's game that was recently announced called "Secret of the Mimic". A Playstation Store page when up for it and it has PSVR2 listed (optional) so looks like its going to be a hybrid, but a pretty big deal.
Oh my gosh! I’m so happy they gave us pc support. The games looks stunning on PSVR 2 and are much cheaper than the pS store .
The exhibition is literally a UK supermarket called "Tesco", the "Clubcard prices" sign is a dead giveaway. WTF indeed.
I bought Infinite Inside because it reminded me of Separation, but I was actually mixing up with The Utility Room 🤣
Looks trippy 😅
Instead of walk sim how about guided experience?
You could almost imagine someone doing something a bit like this in Dreams. That's not a criticism either. So sad Dreams didn't come to PS5 and PSVR2 :(
You're 100% correct. The Utility Room feels like a (really cool) Dreams creation.
Dreams not being on PSVR2 is a tragedy
Yeah few patches & a price cut & i'll have this
The surreal graphics remind of PSVR1 game,Here They Lie 😄
Ahhhh Here They Lie was so good!
I loved that game played it a lot 😂
Great review, thanks. I like the look of this one.
Who else goes straight to the review score ?
Not I. I genuinely love BP's review style.
It’s the least interesting part of the review… the review score is subjective. The explanation of the experience of the game is what makes me decide to buy it or not. You may love something that Bryan hates, or vice versa. And the body of the review is what helps you decide that.
Sometimes I just want to see the bullet points if I'm really interested in the game and don't want to see or know too much about it. It's too spoilery to watch the whole thing if I'm wanting to buy it.
Ngl this looks like something I would put together in unreal 3 back in high school in a few hours.
Obviously he put more work into it than my high school projects but it’s not really that evident from this gameplay. Makes me feel like I should just put out my game environments on vr if there’s really an audience for walking around simple game environments.
Another one to cross off the wishlist
Giant Abilical Cord shooting to the sky.. Death Stranding?
Even tho this is right up my alley I'm still gonna wait for a sale. 90 min should be 15 or less. Love the vibe tho.
1:30 or straight out of Loki
$19 Utility room (one hour'ish)
$23 No mans Sky (ENDLESS exploration 100+ hours)
$15 Hubris, similar look(save $5)
$20 crossfire or breachers (for $1 more)
Happy VR'ing!
...p.s.
if you HAVE to get a black n white weirdness, save ur 19 for Synapse on sale, or just print out a Tiki-skull, stick it on the wall and headbutt it & while your still dizzy - imagine synapse is on sale now & buy it instead. lol
The games listed above are listed simply to show what is currently the same price and infinitely better for the same price.
❤ enjoy ❤
Damn, bit of a swing and a miss, by the sound of it. Another VR 'game' made by someone who DOESN'T PLAY VR games, and therefore doesn't understand what works and what doesn't
Will pick this up on sale, for sure, but it sounds like it was a real waste of an opportunity to create something genuinely interesting and different.
I think we should put the term "walking sim" to bed. It makes the game sound extremely boring. We ought to call them "Walk 'Em Ups" instead.
wmups
😂
Well if it is a walking sim it’s better we know before we buy it right 😅
To be fair, most videogame subgenres have pretty dumb names
It always felt like a bit of an insult, especially when they use it for more in depth games like Death Stranding - which now I think about it actually simulates walking
I’ll probably get this just because I’m a horror nut. I’ve paid more for less. Hell I’m aboutta pay $80 for silent hill and that’s less than 12 hours
Let’s goo!
When I want to enjoy an immersive VR experience, the two words I do not want to hear are: frustrating + controls.
Where’s the washing machine
Looks interesting but will pass for the moment. Probably wait for a sale.
I loved the PC version, and was excited to finally have a solid frame rate on psvr2. Only to play it in one sitting yesterday, and figure out that the frame rate was far, far worse on PS5. Certain places ran at 25 fps, at most. Disgusting for a console port. If you can’t get it to run respectably, don’t port it.
Thanks for this comment. I hadn't played The Utility Room on PC so I had nothing to compare this version to. Good to hear there's a better version of it out there -- and hopefully they can improve the PSVR2 port, especially with its inflated price tag
their crazy $18.99 for a barely 2hr game.................
Barely 1hr game*
ya no.
Brown Lisa Williams Lisa Harris Brian
This looks utter tripe.
@@MasDouc One person’s cool is another person’s Tripe.
Looks like a game made by a mapper with little to no coding skills #usedtobeme 😜
joke
U review some of the most obscure games bruh 😂
In short, a short, generic game, with performance issues and a high price for what it's worth.
Pretty accurate but I wouldn't call it generic. If it was longer and more polished The Utility Room would be pretty damn cool
Hard pass
This should be free with ps plus within 2 months. I mean what the hell is this ‘game’? We walk around a bunch of caves for an hour, jump a few times… is this what passes for a VR game nowadays? 5.5 is being very generous. This looks like a 2/10. Recommended price $1-2.
There’s flatscreen horror games that are like this. They’re called walking sims.
