Imagine how confused kiryu is right now though, he’s literally fighting a guy who’s wearing his same colours but inverted and has the same voice as his dead oath brother, fighting an ex cop who’s dressed just like how he was in 1988 and somehow friends with date, fighting a guy who he literally saw get shot in the head a few years ago and a woman who is dressed just like his daughter.
Trust me, he probably seen everything in his point of view so he’s not surprised anymore, even if it meant seeing a bunch of grown man dressed up in diapers
He kinda seems to get stronger with age. In 0, two gunshot wounds was crippling. In 2, two gunshot wounds just made fighting Ryuji more interesting. Nowadays, you'd be lucky to find a caliber that would scratch his clothes.

Love it, everyone in Ichibans group is doing all these crazy ass attacks and Kiryu is just non nonchalantly beating their ass using mostly basic moves.
And then they just swat off your arm like you're a gnat. Credit where it's due, this game really showed just how tough from an outside perspective Kiryu actually is
@@jimchad9900 Well for example Final Fantasy Crisis Core and 7. Zack defeats multiple enemies on the same power level as sephiroth and saves the world. In final fantasy 7 (well at least like a cutscene) it’s shown that Zack was killed by a regular average gun firing squad. In god of war 4 Kratos can be absolutely battered around by day to day draugr, he dies instantly to certain dumbass traps, thats when game mechanics take over and make a Pantheon Killer Kratos the Ghost of sparta...and turn him into a little bitch. It’s even stated by the creator that old Kratos is actually stronger than young Kratos, just more passive.
I love that since the turn based combat and max 4 party members are in Ichibans imagination, in actuality this fight is Kiryu beating the crap out of your entire party all at once. Really puts his strength into perspective.

the one thing i feel couldve made this fight 10 times more badass is if, the title card on the dynamic intro, is if instead of saying "ex tojo clan 4th chairman, Kazuma Kiryu" it said "The Dragon of Dojima, Kazuma Kiryu"

Jokes aside tho if he's ever going all out, like..not the "player skill" all out but balls to the wall Dragon of Dojima beatdown mode no protagonist (unless written very well) will ever come close to him. Of course if he's gonna be even older than the current version they may stand a chance.
Fun fact: at no point in the fight will kiryu ever attack saeko. Even if it's only her and ichiban in the fight he will focus all his attacks on ichiban.
So with that said, don’t think you can cheese the fight and have 3 healers. Not only is that overkill, you are essentially making the fight harder since Kiryu will target only ichiban and he will damage faster than your party can heal
He honestly never even dropped a single heat move, and obviously escaped the battle without a scratch, but on the other hand, he did use the Tiger Drop, which is stronger than most Heat Moves, so idk.

So arakawa would have known of kiryu well. Ichiban himself joined the arakawa family in 1993, which would give him at least 2 years to have heard of kiryu. Especially when kiryu was imprisoned for the killing of sohei dojima. Ichiban must of heard about kiryu. So although the name kazuma kiryu may have been forgotten due to kiryu being implicated as killing dojima, its difficult to believe that the phrase "the dragon of dojima" would have been forgotten. Especially since in yakuza 1, people still know kiryu 10 years later.

The strangest thing about the yakuza series is how very few people can actually commonly recognise kiryu even after the thousands of fights where he brutally mutilates his opponents with any number of weapons varieties and just with his bare hands, I feel like someone like that would be extremely recognisable. Also as an addition I don’t think people would forget a guy who LITERALLY SETS ON FIRE DURING BATTLE

With being the adopted son of Shintaro Kazama, and already having built a pretty decent legacy before Yakuza 1, I feel like every Tojo member would be aware of him.

It's amazing how in the entirety of my fight with kiryu he doesn't attack sa chan and eri chan. Toshihiro did mention kiryu doesn't like hitting women.

Just did his amazing part of the game. Ichiban dreaming about slaying the dragon and then humming the little victory theme when he woke up had me dying.
Personality-wise Kiryu is closer to Guan Yu or Zhao Yun, though. I can definitely see Majima mowing people down while wearing Lu Bu's helmet/feather thing.
While this is far from the first time in the franchise we fought against Kiryu, this is the first time we fight him as a relative nobody. You fight him as Saejima in 4 and you have a choice to fight as him against Kiryu again in 5 but that shit’s different because Saejima too, is a god among men who’s infamous specifically for fucking up 20 guys by himself
Ichiban says in one of the city dialogues that he beat 20 people alone in middle/high school. I know there is a lot of difference but he is also beast.

Well, the final boss has this game's first fight qte, signifying that Ichiban's dragon quest delusions were slowly fading, plus he's forced into freelancer mode instead of his other modes. In a newer installment, maybe he'll start to fight like Kiryu?

Tip for people in this battle: 1- have 2 woman in your party ( kiryu don’t hit women) so you will heal with them 2- level up a job who have ice attack, he is weak, also is weak to poison I honestly find this fight more easy than majima and Saejima because kiryu don’t hit woman lol

The fact that Kiryu knew enough to literally turn himself into a fantasy boss battle, saying he was the guardian of a treasure to motivate Ichiban, a man who spent his childhood playing Dragon Quest, to fight is an example of Kiryu’s leadership style that got him to the top of Tojo.
I only played 0 and kiwami 1&2, and kiryu fought a lifetime of battles and the AMON clan bunch of times. Ichiban spent a majority of his life in prison more than kiryu (as far as i know). Even though ichiban is a little late on exp, the fact that he's still a dragon in training is cool. Remember that this fight was only a test and kiryu said he still has a way to go before becoming the real deal. I like that kiryu acted as a mentor and ichi will be a legend one day
Kiryu’s new mechanic from Infinite Wealth implies he ALLOWED Ichiban and Co to fight in turns instead of just walking around and beating them all senseless
It's funny when you remember that this fight only happened like that in Ichiban's head. In reality, Kiryu was probably dodging all of their attacks and tiger dropping every single one of them while looking bored. Didn't even have to drink a Staminan. Heck, I can imagine Adachi, Zhao and Joon-Gi Han trying to subdue Kiryu like Akiyama and Tanimura in Yakuza 4, only for him to casually overpower them.

Kiryu is specifically programmed to never attack a female party member, he can only do automatic counterattacks against females.

Because kiryu beat the shit out of 2 tojo lieutenants in 1988. Arakawa, ichibans mentor, was a family patriarch within the tojo clan. So arakawa would have known of kiryu well. Ichiban himself joined the arakawa family in 1993, which would give him at least 2 years to have heard of kiryu.
Especially when kiryu was imprisoned for the killing of sohei dojima. Ichiban must of heard about kiryu.
So although the name kazuma kiryu may have been forgotten due to kiryu being implicated as killing dojima, its difficult to believe that the phrase "the dragon of dojima" would have been forgotten. Especially since in yakuza 1, people still know kiryu 10 years later.

Against a skilled thug or higher-up: A pretty tough mostly even foe
Against someone like a non-elderly patriarch: Tough match for him
Against legends like Majima or Saejima: Borderline hopeless battle for Ichiban
Against Kiryu: Really, a declawed kitten might fare better than Ichiban.

The strangest thing about the yakuza series is how very few people can actually commonly recognise kiryu even after the thousands of fights where he brutally mutilates his opponents with any number of weapons varieties and just with his bare hands, I feel like someone like that would be extremely recognisable. Also as an addition I don’t think people would forget a guy who LITERALLY SETS ON FIRE DURING BATTLE

While this is far from the first time in the franchise we fought against Kiryu, this is the first time we fight him as a relative nobody.
You fight him as Saejima in 4 and you have a choice to fight as him against Kiryu again in 5 but that shit’s different because Saejima too, is a god among men who’s infamous specifically for fucking up 20 guys by himself
Not to mention he beat the shit out of a giant ass bear.
Ichiban says in one of the city dialogues that he beat 20 people alone in middle/high school.
I know there is a lot of difference but he is also beast.

Well, the final boss has this game's first fight qte, signifying that Ichiban's dragon quest delusions were slowly fading, plus he's forced into freelancer mode instead of his other modes. In a newer installment, maybe he'll start to fight like Kiryu?

Tip for people in this battle:
1- have 2 woman in your party ( kiryu don’t hit women) so you will heal with them
2- level up a job who have ice attack, he is weak, also is weak to poison
I honestly find this fight more easy than majima and Saejima because kiryu don’t hit woman lol

The fact that Kiryu knew enough to literally turn himself into a fantasy boss battle, saying he was the guardian of a treasure to motivate Ichiban, a man who spent his childhood playing Dragon Quest, to fight is an example of Kiryu’s leadership style that got him to the top of Tojo.

I only played 0 and kiwami 1&2, and kiryu fought a lifetime of battles and the AMON clan bunch of times. Ichiban spent a majority of his life in prison more than kiryu (as far as i know). Even though ichiban is a little late on exp, the fact that he's still a dragon in training is cool. Remember that this fight was only a test and kiryu said he still has a way to go before becoming the real deal. I like that kiryu acted as a mentor and ichi will be a legend one day

Kiryu’s new mechanic from Infinite Wealth implies he ALLOWED Ichiban and Co to fight in turns instead of just walking around and beating them all senseless
It's funny when you remember that this fight only happened like that in Ichiban's head. In reality, Kiryu was probably dodging all of their attacks and tiger dropping every single one of them while looking bored. Didn't even have to drink a Staminan. Heck, I can imagine Adachi, Zhao and Joon-Gi Han trying to subdue Kiryu like Akiyama and Tanimura in Yakuza 4, only for him to casually overpower them.
