Thank you for this. You never know what you’re getting until you test it yourself. This was extremely helpful as we are gearing up to purchase a cooler for a 5-day music festival. I appreciate the transparency.
Can't wait to get mine in the mail. CATERGATOR For The Win. Really grateful you did this test even though it wasn't a 100% apples to apples, it was still tremendously valuable to us. Just to see how it performed in general, without comparison to anything.
Just got back from a week long camping trip in the northern mountains of Colorado. My catorgator performed really well and held ice for the entire week. For the money, you can’t go wrong. It is very heavy when loaded down with your food/drinks and ice, but it’s like that with any roto-molded cooler. The lid can bow if set out in the blazing sun. I cover mine with a blanket to help.
I think you just sold me. I'm doing a 3 day shark fishing trip in October on the TX coast. I def need a very large cooler for ice. Been thinking about the Rtic 145, but I think I'm going Catergator 170 for $20 less. The blanket idea is great. I can keep a wet/damp blanket over it for the whole trip.
Thanks for this. Would be nice to see a comparison of the same size cooler in different brands. Pretty sure a smaller cooler of ice will pretty much always melt faster than a larger size.
It absolutely will, and I made sure to indicate that in the comparison. From more testing and experience over this past hunting season, they hold ice as well as any premium comparable rotomolded cooler, apple to apples.
@@justmitchell17unfortunately your test is flawed regardless of what you said in the beginning of your video. The larger coolers will always hold more ice longer. So what was the point of your test. It was absolutely ridiculous
@willsrestorations Did you watch the video? I clearly reiterated that exact point several times. The point was to help provide information about a little known product that I believe has value. Many folks who have been researching/comparing coolers have watched it and appreciated it 🤷🏼♂️
@@justmitchell17 Yes I watched your complete video. And I'll say it again, The larger cooler is always going to hold ice longer. Perhaps you didn't read my comment.
when they plow snow to the end of the parking lot into a mountainous pile,.. it can last weeks after all other snow and smaller snow piles have melted.
This was a really fun video to watch and I appreciate you taking the time to be so thorough !! But lol with that being said if you wanna walk into the party like a boss haha than you better be holding a Yeti !! Be part of the Richest 🔥🥃
Glad to see this comparison. Just picked up the catergator 100 with wheels. I expect the same performance of the catergator 65 I have owned for a couple years. The wheels make maneuvering in back of truck much easier.
It’s been nearly a year or so since doing this review on this CaterGator. How has it been holding up anything bending or breaking? I’m debating between this and the Kong coolers I mean yea they are more expensive but I love that the Kong is made in America.
Have you used it since your original testing? I purchased the wheeled 65 Q version but have yet to use it. I'll be thrilled if it will maintain 5 days of ice!
I have for several parties and one day fishing trips. Works fine. It would not doubt hold ice even longer under normal conditions. Keep it closed and out of direct Sun and it would likely go several more days.
Everyone I work with carries some sort of Roto molded cooler in the back of the truck exposed to sunlight 24/7/365. It doesn’t matter what brand or what price point eventually all the lids warp exposed to direct sunlight for an extended amount of time. My RTIC 45 rides in the back of my work truck, and has for the last 6 years. The lid is warped, as is my buddy’s yeti. Orca, Magellan, Ozark Trail, they all warp some. I’ve kept my CGs in my shop when not in use and haven’t seen any real warp in two years. They shut/seal/cool just as well as day one.
Thanks for the awesome video. This is very convincing. I want one, but I'm not sure the box I have will fit into it. The inside tapers down a bit from the pics. Would you measure the inside dimensions at the bottom (the smallest dimensions) for me?
Makes sense. Great video. Love these idiots hung up on your science. Like you are the underwriter’s laboratory. Appreciate your test. Half the cost of a yeti or orca. Those slots on the side main body under the lid could I bend flat bar stock and use that to mount the cooler to a hitch or truck bed?
I have this cooler and when it's in the sun the lid gets warm, it bows up in the middle, and the seal doesn't contact the bottom section of the cooler. This causes air flow and ice loss. I do not recommend this cooler. You can see in the very beginning of this video that the lid is bowed.
Almost a solid comparison except the holding volume of these are not the same. More ice, longer the ice will keep. NOT a true apples to apples comparison.
I have an attic 45 and have loved it. I will be buying a 210 qt cater gator soon. In my experience the more ice you start with the longer it’ll last in most any cooler however it seem pretty easy to say that the catorgator can hang with the others even if size was the same. For the money especially it’s hard to beat the value. Not much info on these thanks for the test.
I use my RTIC 45 everyday for work for the last 10 years. It works great. The CG coolers are as rugged as any other roto molded cooler. I’ve used the CG on multiple hunts over the last year and a half and they work awesome. There is no better value, IMO for what you get.

Well thanks brother.
It’s still doing exactly what I need it to. Held 4 deer on ice this season so far for 4-5 days no problem.

Been watching reviews all day, and this was the most helpful one.
Glad I could help👍🏻
I really didn’t like the yeti. I have both yeti and RCT and no difference.
@@justmitchell17 what is the ruler on top for? Thank you for reviewing this brand. I’m going to buy it.

Thank you for the review sir. I just pulled the trigger.
Love my catergator, same thing as a yukon i keep seeing in buc'ees
Thanks for the comparison man
Never heard of this brand thanks for exposing more people for value oriented products. I'm all about that 😂

I’m a practical poor that hates parties. Lol
CG FTW!

In hind sight, the wheels would be nice with a cooler that large. I’d probably order the wheeled version if I were to buy another one.

The reason I went with the RTIC 65 is because they are super strong and bear resistant.
Have you used it since your original testing? I purchased the wheeled 65 Q version but have yet to use it. I'll be thrilled if it will maintain 5 days of ice!

The handles on the Catergator are way more sturdy than the yeti and rtic.
Yep. They’re very nice
I read one Reddit post that the Catergator lids warp in the sun.
Any comparisons on the structural integrity of these coolers?
Great post!

How did u get the free shipping? I’d order one today if it wasn’t for that
The video was filmed 6 months ago. At the time, they were offering free shipping on certain models.
I’m not sure what deals they have now.
Yeti products are way overpriced and nothing special.
More ice always wins !
I was just about to say. Everyone is knocking on Rtic and Yeti yet this "comparison" has different cooler capacities.
Absolutely more ice always wins. I made sure to indicate that in the video. I own all three but apples to apples, the CG is the best value IMO
Thanks for the awesome video. This is very convincing. I want one, but I'm not sure the box I have will fit into it. The inside tapers down a bit from the pics. Would you measure the inside dimensions at the bottom (the smallest dimensions) for me?
Where can I get one? Webstersunt wants $80 for shipping
Webstaraunt is the only dealer I’m aware of. I made the video a while back when shipping was free and everything cost considerably less.

Time stamp for it? I never saw it bow up? Also don’t leave it in the sun.
🤔
Yeti is just a Brand. Its not the best by far. Cater Gator is the best bang for the buck. But I especially like the Rtic.
They are all built to similar standards. Price and customer service may vary, but they all work well.
Almost a solid comparison except the holding volume of these are not the same. More ice, longer the ice will keep. NOT a true apples to apples comparison.
Absolutely. I said as much in the video.
I just didn’t have $1000+ to buy the comparable RTic and Yeti to compare them side by side
looks like a knock-off of Hooked coolers, same accessories compatibility.
Yeti do suck. Way Over Rated…
$450? Same price as a yeti lol😂
110qt yeti = 550
110qt cg = 250
yup, same price 🙄
