I luv my rtic ul. I used cheap coolers for 40 years and still did well. I got mine for 170 and have only used it in the Mohave 90 to 114 degree. Works great.
Great great video. Just what I wanted to know. The real details!!! I appreciate all of your thoughts on this. I got a rugged road cooler for xmas, ended up returning it for some random gripes about cosmetics and finishing of the cooler. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful!
The smaller drain plug is a vent for draining so you dont have to open lid.
Good job, young man! That was solid information. I like your style. Stick with it!
I appreciate it!
Received mine today. The injection spots are not bad at all on mine. 2 small white perfect circles in the front when I open. I just want the accessories now lol.
Rotomolded coolers are made of a polyethylene shell. Polyethylene has flex and has a lower melting point than the more rigid polypropylene used in injection molding. I suspect the polypropylene shell RTIC ultra light won’t have issues of lid warping that polyethylene shell Yeti and other rotomolded coolers have. Especially dark colored ones sitting in the sun. Polypropylene is the superior plastic for coolers but cannot be used in rotomolding. Rotomolded cooler manufacturers will tout the durability and strength of rotomolding … but they don’t mention how many lids warp in the hot sun. I’ll take injection molding every time.
Interesting info! Thank you!
That’s good info, thank you.
Great information. Thank you!
I would say the smaller drain is to get rid of just water and maybe keep more ice, and the big drain is to completely empty it out and may allow larger more melted iced to flow out and if you go to clean it, the allows the water to run out faster. Just a thought. Found this video while looking for some on the Rtic 20 which i just got and waiting for it to come in.
Yes. The small drain is to allow melted ice to drain. On My 72qt, I unscrew it half way so there's never any standing water. The large drain also helps when hosing it out so you don't have to keep tipping it.
Small drain to hookup a garden hose for easier cleaning?
@@jameschilders6389 I had a similar thought. I wonder if some folks use hoses to route the drainage. Say you've got the cooler in the bed of your truck, but you don't want to dump gallons of water out right into the bed.
Awesomeness video! I just ordered one. Should be here by Monday afternoon. Where did you by chance see one listed for $150!?!?! Thanks for the price match info 🙏 I didn’t know they did that
During Holiday sales last year.
the middle cooler pack doesn’t have water inside so i’m not too sure on what’s in it, but i know water expands when frozen , so if the liquid inside the pack freezes, it might fit better ? just an idea not positive on that tho
Great video, agree with everything you said.. keep up the great work ..
Much appreciated
The hole that you talk about at the 8:17 mark is made for strap tiedowns not for carrying purposes.
How do I keep my rope handles from banging against the cooler sides when in Jeep? Annoying going down road/trail?
They need retainer
That must be a newer model arctic cooler I have some that I bought 4 years ago they do not have that little cable for the drain plug so you gotta remember when you undo the drain plug to put it back in my best suggestion throw it inside the cooler when you’re draining the water out. Also, the footers on the bottom Pedro or Qui Chang didn’t have enough time to put more glue on it so I actually took them off and put gorilla glue and put them back in. Haven’t had a problem since then RTIC as any company do stuff little half ass, but who doesn’t these days
ALSO…. they sell replacement rubber latches question is how do you put them on
Just got mine at Lowe’s for 135 nice cooler will try dry ice in it soon
Looks great! Do they still include the divider and basket with the 32qt model?
Not anymore, only for sales.
@@UltimateToolReviewswhere can they be bought? I didn’t see them on the website. I just received my RTIC today. No accessories.
Smaller drain allowed you to hook up a hose to drain the water further away.
I like orca coolers but rtic coolers are pretty good for the price
Appreciate the details you shared!
Thanks for watching!
What does the bottom inside of the cooler look like? The Orca has lower drain area.
Mine leaked after being in back of my truck on just a 2 hour trip. Could not seal it back up without cranking down on the plug cap with channel locks.
Melted really quick in 2 days in 80 degrees out of the sun
So the divider and basket came with the cooler because they don't currently have 52 basket and divider for sale on the website and now I am assuming this is why
Yes, they are included.
No, they are not included any longer
There 10 bux on rtics Website
Anyone find where they sell them? Found the divider on Amazon but no basket.
I luv mine bro and the wifey always tells me bring the good cooler when we have BBQs
Just got mine for $100 in gray. I’m a trucker and I’ve been wanting one very badly. Hope it holds up well
Nice! Where from?
@@JeffyLindy83 Got it from the RTIC retail store in Houston, they had some good discounts
Anyone else had an issue with the shell of the cooler filling up with water? I keep having to turn mine upside down and take the screws loose to drain water out of the shell of the cooler
Love my UL 52… but the drain plugs SUCK. They leave a ton of water still in the bottom of the cooler. The drains are higher than the lowest point which is dumb. But that really only affects you when cleaning it up for storage so it’s no biggie. Still annoying to have to grab a towel when all my other coolers I can just leave the deans open and air dry completely
My RTIC 75 quart rolling ultralight lid warps in the summer heat. Some days its reaaaallly bad. In a fully iced cooler that was already cold from previous ice, it holds ice maybe 4 days by when 95% of it is melted. Ive noticed too that even when the lid gap looks okay, not warped much, if i remove the water drain, it lets water out. It doesnt suck in air through the drain, showing its not fully sealed. Thats even with a ratchet strap clamping the top down to keep it as flat as possible. A little irritating
If I'm in and out of it a 2-3 times a day the ice lasts about 3
72*
The reason for the different size drains is to keep the ice and just drain the water or drain it all.
The small drain is to hook to a standard water hose... For a constant drain, or to be able to direct where the water goes.
...it actually said that on the "care and maintenance" pamphlet that came with my RTIC cooler.
That’s what I thought made sense.
“Ultra light” means 2 pounds less than Yeti bc the normal Rtics are way heavier than Yeti
start at 2:53 to cut the fluff
Looks like the divider and basket are now separate items.
That’s what I’ve heard, they are both great to have, the divider doesn’t stay cold as long as I would like though.
Next time look into “Blue Coolers”
Never heard of them before, I will check them out.
120$ at Walmart for the hunting colored one
For the 52qt? Thats an insane deal, their own factory store in houston is still $200
@@dizzy4303
52qt yeah
The 32qt or whatnot was more expensive at that time
those things are crazy expensive! WOW
We went camping the other month ago in Missouri forest 🌳 and it’s the biggest mistake because we actually saw a Bigfoot……….. and what was next the Bigfoot we saw a lil
Yeti cooler
RTIC coolers are very good and cheaper than the YETI, but the YETI coolers are made in America, not China. That matters to me. That's where my dollars are going.
Yeti are made in the Philippines, Mexico and China. Their claim is the thundra is made in Wisconsin but doesn’t say what percentage is, it’s misleading.
@@DM-ys8ll According to several sources, the Tundra coolers are made in Iowa, Wisconsin and the Philippines. The Rambler drinkware and the Hopper coolers are made in China. I'm still ok with my Tundra purchase, and the "Rescue Red" color is awesome!
@@davideastly9204 not made in America Orion coolers are made in America by Americans and beat yeti in every ice test challenge. They are “assembled in America “ that’s how they get past the made in rule.
@@davideastly9204ike most companies, Yeti is going to do whatever Yeti has to do to make money. So a cooler that’s made here today could be made in the Philippines next month and made in China 3 months from now. Same thing happens with other products, including optics. I hear people say all the time about only buying American or German or whatever optics and in reality we have no idea where stuff comes from. You’re opposed to China, well how did you watch this video and post this comment? On a Chinese made phone or tablet or computer…and it if wasn’t 100% made in China there are more than likely a fair amount of Chinese components.
Why does it matter becuse some illegal immigrants probably hauling them anyway, I could care less where anything is made anymore since nobody cares about American truckers
Someone needs eye drops
Someone worries too much.
And some nail clippers
I used to care where things were made but since nobody cares about illegal immigrants hauling the freight, I could care less what illegal immigrants make the products or where they are from
That a boy
