    Can you get these shipped to Canada or do I have to fly out to Japan to get them?

      From the comfort of your own home: deentools.com/?ls=en
      That's DEEN's newly lauched webstore. It's still a work in progress, but I've been told it's fully functional.
      Go to the upper right area of the page and change the language to English (well, the US flag).
      Create an account, just like you would with most online retailers.
      Orders are processed by EMS. At the time of the transaction there's seems to be a flat $30 S/H charge, but apparently that could change, depending on the size/weight of the contents. ...at least that's what I've been told. They are working to refine the shipping/handling process in the coming months.
      If that fails, fly over to Japan, and tell them I sent you over there. Haha!

    Love the koken articulated wrench . One of those tools that you don't need until you really do and then nothing else will do the job

  • @harveysmith100
    @harveysmith100 4 года назад +3

    Always lovely to see what you have purchased.
    The bit driver looks really useful especially when you put the 1/4 socket attachment in it.
    As for the T handled ratchet, I think the clue is with the Subaru dealership. When all of the techs own the same tool it clearly has it's uses or even just a use but when you need it, you need it!
    The boxer engine in the Subara is probable a clue.
    As with most specialist tools that we think we don't need, I will be working one day and get stuck and think what I need is a tool that bends this way and then that way. Now, where did I see something like that?

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  4 года назад +1

      "oh, right, it was in that video! ..and I need it now!"
      I think you're right about the boxer engine. Either it was meant for a particular use or even had mulitple uses working on those engines.

    • @harveysmith100
      @harveysmith100 4 года назад +2

      @@chriscas-ToolAficionado Correct, only with me it will be, " Now where did I see that tool again.
      But yes, I need it now. I try to make a rule that if I struggle to get it done knowing there is a tool that will do it easier, I then go get that tool for next time.
      There are very, very few tools I regret purchasing

      my guess is for doing valve covers on 6 cylinder motors, lots of 10mm bolts in very tight quarters, especially the bottom corners.

    • @keithangstadt4950
      @keithangstadt4950 2 года назад +1

      Also the front cover on the 6 cyl boxer has like 35 allen bolts holding it on. Most mechanics opt to take the engine out to reseal it because its just about impossible to get them out or in without stripping some of them. I'd bet this tool makes the task possible without removal of the engine, or at least half of the front of the car.

    Did the store worker mention where exactly they used/needed the Ko-ken ratcheting T-handle on a Subaru? Because now I'm curious. lol

    Toptul or toptool has that same style bit ratchet, so does MAC and Facom. I been seeing some by the swiss army knife manufacture also. MAC wants like $100 USD for that thing!

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  4 года назад +2

      You know your tool brands! Yup, recently, Toptul, KS Tools and even Wurth sell the same thing as well. As far as I know, DEEN was the first to come out with this variant. I got my MAC branded bit ratchet (one shown in video) with like a 20pc bit set (bits stamped with FACOM logo) for like $60 CAN though!

    Nice haul! Was looking for that low profile hex to 3/8” super rare! I could see turning a bit ratchet to a 3/8 in confined areas!

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  4 года назад +1

      You bet! DEEN only offered those adapter as part of a set for their rotator ratchet, but apparently people wanted just the adapters to be sold separately, and so they did. I'm a bit of a sucker for these types of adapters. 😆

    Great video production as always Chris! Love the bit ratchet and it is listed on Amazon but shows "not available currently" Luckily we have a 3-Peaks distributor here in the States and I can usually find what I need in stock here.
    I just received 2 new Vessel roto head (1/4 & 3/8 drive) and wish I could read the Japanese text on them.

      Thanks Mark! Over at Ultimate Garage, the Facom branded one is sold for a cool $72US: www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?products_id=7915
      With the bit box set its $132: www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?products_id=7916
      Or, for 6 bux more, you can get the USAG branded one (same thing), for $78US: www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?products_id=8701
      Since you're a GJ member, I believe there a bit of discount offered...don't quote me on that though.
      About the woody grip roto head ratchets....what were you interested in knowing?

    Oh wow, I've seen identical ratchet and flex-head mechanisms on a few ratchets now, but this is the first time I'm seeing a completely identical driver/wrench set to ICON's new ratcheting 1/4" bit driver kit. ICON's is super affordable, but does that come at lower material cost? Otherwise, haven't had any complaints about QC and tolerances. I just removed the spring clip and added a small touch of Super Lube's multipurpose Grade 2 grease.

      Are they current production/new or used? Depending on the vintage, the OEM might be different. The newer/current stuff, from what I've seen, the OEM is Ko-ken.
      Hahaha, maybe I'll start dis-assembling my nephew's toys just for the heck of it.
