Religious people are not special and can be criticized just like the rest of us for our views. We owe them no special deference.
To a room half filled with catholic women that worked hard for their degrees. They didn’t need to be preached at by a fellow catholic. I’m sure these woman will have fulfilling careers and home lives.

And you're right. He has freedom of speech. But freedom of speech refers to the fact that the government won't suppress what you say. But it doesn't absolve you from the consequences of public opinion and your peers. I'm also not sure if you watched the speech in it's entirety, but he was not saying that their degrees mean nothing. He's saying that being a mother is more meaningful to most women than their careers...Just like how most men would say that being a father is much more meaningful than their careers... I think the outrage is coming from people who didn't listen to the full 20 minute speech. There's plenty to be offended by in there (also some good stuff in there on the importance of fatherhood), but I think that line that everyone is talking about is being way overblown and not worthy of a top news story. It's more culture war crap which draws headlines.

This could be counter productive because you may not want to hear my perspective but I’ll give it go. What is said is harmful for many reasons firstly because he’s making it out to seem as though lgbt people are dangerous which is not the case they are not a majority in the slightest as someone who has been very very careful with what is on the media my entire life I can say that the backlash that has begun due to transgender and non binary people is so unnecessary. I’m not part of the community myself and I don’t necessarily always understand it but it’s so bizarre to say that these people are dangerous when it’s just kids like literally just teenagers saying there pronouns are they them.

I'd be ironic if there was a poll that showed that the majority of women at Benedictine college preferred being full-time mothers over solely career focused. If women & the world want world peace, personal peace, happiness, fulfillment, joy, and ecstasy beyond their wildest dreams, women, wives, and mothers will choose to go back in the home.
