    Despite that these cars look similar on paper, the M3 and ISF offer different advantages and disadvantages over each other. On this episode I cover exactly what makes them each unique, and what you can expected to experience if you own one.

    Honestly, you can't not talk about reliability. If your car is going to spend 60% of the time in the shop or leaves you stranded 400 miles from home, you're not going to enjoy it much.

    Now only 4406 ISF's on the road in North America according to the DMV. These cars are extremely special. Definitely upgrade the steering ECU, wider tires on the front (chassis loves a square setup), and upgrade the control arm bushings. Those mods will yield dramatic results. Thanks for making ISF vids as there isn't many on RUclips and looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

    Actually 11k were made world wide 5100 ISF were sent to United States a total of 60k plus M3E90, E92 and E93 were built world wide with 25k sent to USA. It took about 7 yr for after market to catch up. You can find just about everything you need now from suspensions from companies such as BC, Tein, KWV3, OHLINS, Penske, Airlift etc. Headers and exhaust from several companies from PPE, Sikky, Meisterschaft, Novel, Greddy, HKS, etc. You are correct regarding Steering feel. It's easy cheap and fast to cure. Get set 90 durometer urethane LCA bushings Figs engineering, it sounds high 90 but for ISF with that big 5.0 90degree V8 up front you need it. The Figs LCA are more street focused and very forgiving. If you like to track your car and have good road conditions go with 95 durometer RR Racing LCA are more track focused, but both turn driving feed back around from night to day difference. It also cures problem with OEM LCA with it inner tire wear, since they are rubber bushing filled with fluid that allows for too much deflection under heavy load especially under breaking which causes premature inner tire wear. They both cost around $350 mark, this instantly transformes steering feel to that of m3. I've had both LCA in my ISF so I can attest to the driving characteristics. Tons of body kits and carbon fiber parts hoods, wings, sideskirts, front spoiler rear spoilers and diffuser from som top notch companies like Tom's, and Novel just to name few. Rims Galore with off sets down from 25 all the way up to 55 light weight or stance. One downside, there is only one reputable tuner for ISF and all Lexus in general and that's RR Racing they basically developed first tune and superchargers for ISF, RC F, GSF, IS350 and IS 250s. Top tier Supercharger kit for ISF gets you 780hp RCF 820hp. These kits have been around for few years and are pretty reliable. There was ISF running 725hp that ran Mojave mile from standing start 0 to 191.1mph faster then several stock $250 to $350k supercars. There plenty of info out there on forums such as Clublexus, Lexus Enthusiast, Lexus Facebook club, and few others. ISF owners tend to hold onto there cars for long periods of time, much longer than your average M3 owner. In last few years ISF have started to attract somewhat of a small cult-like following. And of 3 cars from time it was produced from 2008 to 2014 with E90 M3's and C63 AMG being its biggest rival the ISF has highest resale value of all of them. Second is M3 with C63AMG coming in last I've seen them from $12k to $14k on low end. I've owed my 2011 ISF since it was brand new when I purchased it back in Nov of 2010. It's been rock solid DD for 7yrs has 104k Miles on it. Has been FBO for 9yrs with Tune and Tuned intake from RR Racing being add few yrs ago, Airlift 3H performance suspension. As well as other parts this car by far has been just joy to own and my favorite car and I've been driving for over 30yrs. It can be tracked and driven home or you can DD with know problem its jack of all trades and if you want make it a master of one that can be done easily.

You need to take your time with your shifts. It’s a fun car in the rain bc of the rwd and controllable. The only downside to these cars is the clutch/flywheel are expensive to replace (just ordered mine and each one costed $600-700). I’m going from a dual mass flywheel to a solid lightwheel flywheel since people on clublexus says it makes the car ridiculously more fun to drive.

    First off, very good video and congrats on your new ISF. Something that I’m a bit surprised that you didn’t go further into detail with was the difference of transmission. Yes you mentioned that the M3 is available in manual whereas the ISF, of course, is not. But the difference between BMW’s DCT and lexus’ 8 speed (?) in the ISF is noteworthy as well...or at least I’ve been told. I’ve never driven an ISF nor have I driven a DCT e9x (have driven a manual e92 and 93). From what I understand the BMW’s DCT is much more dynamic and, even by today’s standards, a tremendous transmission. I’ve done a bit of research on the ISF’s and I know that, even while 10+ years old, it’s a decent transmission but it’s not the BMW DCT. Anywho, I really love the ISF and if available in manual I believe that would be a legendary car and hold MAJOR value. Interestingly enough, I follow BaT (Bring a Trailer) quite regularly and I have never seen an ISF on there. Keep posting content. I would love to hear that 5.0 with some exhaust work!

    My first modern performance car was a WRX( horrible turbo lag, and under steer) , then I bought 2 cars, a 2005 E55 AMG ( broke too often, stranded several times, would constantly go into “limp home” mode after driving hard.
    I also bought a 2002 corvette convertible, that started to rattle apart after 100,000 miles, but I kept it as a second car/ sunny day cruiser.
    Then a MB certified used c63, with 20,000 miles, At 28,000 ish miles MB took it back under lemon law. Yep they couldn’t fix it after 5 attempts, they put me in a C300 ( at least I had my vette) for a month once…ugh. I ended up owning it for free, when I wasn’t in a loaner.
    I then bought a manual 2008 M3, loved being able to easily drive at the limit( and over the limit) but lots of assorted mechanical problems under warranty. Also the ride was too stiff for daily drive and driving mom around. Also the car started to make noises, interior and power train so I Immediately sold just before warranty ( and possibly the car) ended.
    I got a 2009 ISF, then a 2011 ISF, and though still stiff, it’s much more comfortable as a daily driver.
    I’d rate as Acceleration: 1 MB, 2 ISF/BMW. Handling at limit: 1 M3 2 ISF 3 MB
    In town cruising/comfort / handling/ : 1 ISF 2 C63 3 M3( can you believe “ too eager to turn.). Sleeper and Exclusiveness 1 ISF 2 MB 3 M3. Reliability 1 ISF by a mile 2 M3 3 MB

  • @asifalimirza
    @asifalimirza 4 года назад

    Great video! So here is why I would take an ISF over an M3 anyday...reliability. All the upgraded options you need are all taken care of by the aftermarket, including infotainment systems. Let's say you buy a 2010 ISF for $20K, and you buy a 2015 M3 for about the same amount. On the ISF, if you are really that keen into upgrading it, you will spend between $1K and $3K at the most doing upgrades (such as infotainment, swaybars, upgraded LCA bushings etc). If you were to buy the M3, you would have to put aside $5K to $10K...in maintenance and repair costs! I'm around a lot of BMW enthusiasts, so I know what issues they have as I have seen it first hand. So hands down, I would buy the ISF over the M3, regardless of miles. BTW, if you are looking for better steering feel, easy fix. RR Racing or Figs Engineering Lower Control Arm Polyurethane bushings! Under $400, easy to install and will give you stiffer steering, better road feel and braking. Or you can go with the RCF Bushings which are like $50 a bushing!

    In my opinion the ISF is way more special than the BMW M3. I see a BMW M3 and don’t look twice I see ISF and I take my time to analyze the vehicle. Very special car and special because it’s the first high-performance luxury Japanese sedan to battle the Germans.
    Also when it comes to handling the 2014 ISF was lap against the V8 E90 competition and the ISF put down the same exact track time as the BMW M3 competition so when it comes to handling I would not say the M3 handles better. I have been in both cars also and the Lexus Interior is also a plus over the BMWs
    The ISF Motor is also stronger and longer running then the BMWs motor smart money is on the ISF.

      Lol at interior, Lexus ISF interior looks so outdated, e9x interior is superior especially with right color combo e.g. red or brown leather. Also engine is more special in m3, its bespoke high revving V8, with proper exhaust sounds better than any other V8, except maybe for flat plane V8 like Ferrari and GT350. M3 has huge potential, to make it faster or handle better. Look up Schirmer’s acclaimed E92 M3, it can run on Nurburgring in 6min 59s, that’s faster than many super cars and that’s N/A power. In fact that’s top 5 fastest cars around Nurburgring.
