I can't put my finger on it--what exactly, but it's the type of feeling you get when you're getting right back up after a blow, and you win over whatever you're struggling over. It's certainly a dark, powerful feeling. It almost makes you feel badass and draws you in. Perfect for tackling on homework lol. After many years, here I am returning to this song.
I can probably name 50 different occasions where Spartans/a Spartan fought fleets, armies and monsters completely alone. ODST are badass, but holy fucknuggets you're wrong if you think they're more badass than Spartans. They went through ODST training on steriods.

I tend to think this about a lot of mortal-badass soldiers v super-soldiers, at least in terms of sheer impressiveness and balls. The super-soldiers, ultimately, may get the job done where the mortal may not, but it takes a serious set of brass ones to go up against inhuman foes with just old-fashioned human grit.

I completely agree I remember being really pissed when I beat Halo 4, But then I took a minute to think about it and decided to go back and play some Combat Evolved and then it hit me, Halo 4 had an absolutely amazing campaign the only problem was I was expecting a game like Halo 3 but the thing about Halo 3 was that Bungie had worked on Halo for years by that point my expectations were to high and I didn`t stop to think about how this was 343`s first attempt at a Halo game without Bungie. What I`m saying is 343 was still a newbie and you can`t expect their first game to be the equivalent of Bungie who is a seasoned veteran and defending champ when it comes to Halo games and Halo 4 only seems bad because it isn`t at the same level as we Halo fans are used to, and if you don`t believe me go back and play CE I think you`ll be pleasantly surprised by how similar the games are in terms of campaign quality.
Also would like to point out, this version which is used in the trailer, is different from the actual song "Lament by Light of Aidan". In the original, it does translate to something different, because this version used in the ODST trailer is a version changed to fit the ODST theme, thus the lyrics being "We cheat Death from his rightful victory. As others have said it's Welsh but the cadence and syllable grouping is mangled almost to the point of incomprehensibility; probably to give it a more ominous, off-kilter feel. Even being fluent in the language, and having watched the original trailer a bunch of times and loving the music, I didn't realise it was Welsh until I saw the lyrics written down.
So I’ve gotta bit of a story for everyone. I grew up on halo, and I was around 15 when ODST came out, and me and my friends would play this game and all of the other Halos every weekend. The amount of times we played them together and the LAN party’s, and the countless cosplaying, we become true friends with these games. So it comes to my senior year and I decided to get those guys together and all just hangout. We all started just hanging out, and all that and we started talking about halo, and around this time, it had been a few years since Reach had been out, and we missed doing all of it. Then I remembered seeing this video on RUclips, and I went and grabbed my laptop and hooked it up to my speakers, and just played it with no context, and everyone’s faces then immediately looked like they had seen a ghost, my best friend Eric even started crying. If this story doesn’t give testimony to how large of an impact Halo has left on peoples lives, I don’t know what will.

The most amazing thing about Halo is that every nation on earth fights together against the Covenant. Today it's out of imagination that the Nations on earth will ever be united and peacefull to one another. That is what amazes me, that the earth itself is very strong and hard to kill IF we fight together. But today everyone on it wants a peace of the cake and even betrays it's own race.

Spartans are badass but you have to respect the bond that all helljumpers share. Spartans seem to be largely antisocial and sociopathic armored killing machines. In that way they are not much different from a Scorpion tank. But ODSTs? They have to work as a team, and by doing so they share a bond that lasts a lifetime. Personally, I'd be an ODST over Spartan any day of the week.

I have a lot of respect for spartan 2's but mentally they aren't humans anymore. They show just as little emotion to a ally dying in battle as they would if they spilled some milk, and when you are at the point where you are closest to feel emotionally hurt is when your AI dies, you know you are no longer human in mind. ODST May be inferior, but at least they have humanity and morality left and fight those emotions when they try to drag Them down like all humans do

I hear you man. I feel the same way. But I am a Marine so I use this song when I am on training events and I slap motivating theme songs like this one, light of Aiden.
Well the marines are working on sub orbital pods that can deploy troops anywhere with two hours notice so it may be possible within our lifetimes.

It's sad to say I've gone off Halo now. I barely had the will to finish Halo 4, if they made another ODST game thatd get me back into it.

I completely agree I remember being really pissed when I beat Halo 4, But then I took a minute to think about it and decided to go back and play some Combat Evolved and then it hit me, Halo 4 had an absolutely amazing campaign the only problem was I was expecting a game like Halo 3 but the thing about Halo 3 was that Bungie had worked on Halo for years by that point my expectations were to high and I didn`t stop to think about how this was 343`s first attempt at a Halo game without Bungie. What I`m saying is 343 was still a newbie and you can`t expect their first game to be the equivalent of Bungie who is a seasoned veteran and defending champ when it comes to Halo games and Halo 4 only seems bad because it isn`t at the same level as we Halo fans are used to, and if you don`t believe me go back and play CE I think you`ll be pleasantly surprised by how similar the games are in terms of campaign quality.
Also would like to point out, this version which is used in the trailer, is different from the actual song "Lament by Light of Aidan". In the original, it does translate to something different, because this version used in the ODST trailer is a version changed to fit the ODST theme, thus the lyrics being

As others have said it's Welsh but the cadence and syllable grouping is mangled almost to the point of incomprehensibility; probably to give it a more ominous, off-kilter feel. Even being fluent in the language, and having watched the original trailer a bunch of times and loving the music, I didn't realise it was Welsh until I saw the lyrics written down.

So I’ve gotta bit of a story for everyone. I grew up on halo, and I was around 15 when ODST came out, and me and my friends would play this game and all of the other Halos every weekend. The amount of times we played them together and the LAN party’s, and the countless cosplaying, we become true friends with these games. So it comes to my senior year and I decided to get those guys together and all just hangout. We all started just hanging out, and all that and we started talking about halo, and around this time, it had been a few years since Reach had been out, and we missed doing all of it. Then I remembered seeing this video on RUclips, and I went and grabbed my laptop and hooked it up to my speakers, and just played it with no context, and everyone’s faces then immediately looked like they had seen a ghost, my best friend Eric even started crying. If this story doesn’t give testimony to how large of an impact Halo has left on peoples lives, I don’t know what will.

The actual lyrics of this version were written specifically for ODST, they aren't the same as the original Lament. That's why they seem to so perfectly fit the ODSTs, such as "feet first into hell".
Both versions are Welsh, though the soldiers in the trailer speak Hungarian

Normally patriotism bothers me since it’s at the expense of another nation or culture, but I love all the patriotic comments here. Spartans are badass but you have to respect the bond that all helljumpers share. Spartans seem to be largely antisocial and sociopathic armored killing machines. In that way they are not much different from a Scorpion tank. But ODSTs? They have to work as a team, and by doing so they share a bond that lasts a lifetime. Personally, I'd be an ODST over Spartan any day of the week.

Comic Kazii But what happens when one of your team members dies? You and the rest of your team feel the impact. Spartans who operate mainly solo most likely won't be dragged down by this kind of thing.
I have a lot of respect for spartan 2's but mentally they aren't humans anymore. They show just as little emotion to a ally dying in battle as they would if they spilled some milk, and when you are at the point where you are closest to feel emotionally hurt is when your AI dies, you know you are no longer human in mind. ODST May be inferior, but at least they have humanity and morality left and fight those emotions when they try to drag Them down like all humans do
