Hell yeah brother!! Thankyou that helps I’m getting over run with running boards power supply and lights and the light bar and stereo system so huge help .
I don't know if you've seen them or not. But, solder seal butt connectors are magical. You can get a 150 piece assortment on Amazon for ~$15. Not that there's anything wrong with the regular ones. Just nice to have options
Jeremy Crager id like to try those out. Do you have any experience with them. And if so how do you like them
Yeah I've used them a fair amount, exclusively in lower amperage applications (gauges, stereo, lighting). I'm very impressed so far. I don't use a heat gun, I just use a lighter or small torch.
Done a couple test connections then cut them apart to see how well the solder penetrates. In the smaller wire it's as good as using an iron. The larger gauges it isn't quite as good, but I'd still say that it's sufficient.
Haven't tried them on any higher amperage stuff.
I'm a fan of them, especially underneath. Engine bay isn't as critical
Breakfast burrito will keep you tuned up for your tune up!
Awesome Video, Absolutely agree to use the right tool for the job. I have found that years after making butt connections on automotive apps they tend to get moisture corrosion and have an intermittent problem.. those are the worst. I like to use anti corrosion grease before making my connections on crimps.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing it!
Literally did this exact thing last weekend. Then ran a second smaller box to the dash for all the aftermarket gauges.
I should of done it a long time ago. I might need to do the same and run a leg to the dash too
@@GoatRopeGarage You can get access to some good 12v points inside the cab, there are factory fused pins available. The connector to plug into them is a bit spendy (found one on ebay GM PN: 20791502) and the terminals aren't that cheap either (can be found on arrow.com) but it does make a really nice point to get power. See this page for all the info www.silveradosierra.com/how-to-articles/how-to-using-the-mbec-for-powered-accessories-t641570.html
I used this point in my truck for an interior fuse panel, it's a 2001 (GMT800 has a similar little electrical center you can do the same thing.)
Being an electrician by trade I gotta say I think Klein's are worth every penny lol but I understand for people that don't use them on a regular basis for several years they can be a bit pricey 👍 great info in the content wiring is pretty easy and helping people understand the basics help curve some of their fears.
Yeah, I'm a fan but I don't expect someone to spend that kind of cash on sometime they don't use often. Worse is the terminal crimpers, seems the cheap ones start at $100
Yeah they try to nail you for that specialized tool price.
I just bought the Channellock 909CB crimpers from Amazon for $22 not to long ago, and they are beefy. Probably just as good as the Klein, and the grips on the handles are really nice. Have enjoyed them so far. Definitely worth to use proper tools.
Nice video, I just subbed about a week ago and need to go back through your tuning stuff. Is your microphone only recording in Mono sound? I only had sound through one side on my headphones sadly.
Video audio is in stereo
I like that sweater
You ran the switch 12v to the fuse positive, an not 12v battery? So switch is on 12v power, how I want to wire mine, so when the key is on fuel pump, water pump and fan is but not while cranking.
can u help to instoler a fuse box on my car I live in Modesto cal
Awesome instructional. Every video I've seen about auxiliary fuse boxes says you HAVE TO use a circuit breaker. So just to confirm, you didn't use a circuit breaker right?
I never trust a local chassis ground. I always run a ground back to the fuse block and ensure the fuse block is grounded to a well grounded bus-bar. This is especially critical with my radios and other electronic systems.Marine grade shrink-tube on all connectors/splices. I use hot glue to seal some connectors and openings. It's amazing how water can get into places you think are well-sealed.
I’ve been looking for a video like this you answered all the questions I’ve been asking myself the only question is how big relay do I need
Should there be a inline fuse between the battery and new relay box?
Would require a fuse big enough that it probably wouldn't pop anyways
Only THREE strips of bacon in your breakfast burrito? Man, what have you done to her? 😆
I'll pass this on, lol
@@GoatRopeGarage , at your own risk! She just might tell you what you did to her! 😬
Did you tap into the ACCY of the factory fuse panel? Please supply link for relay. Thanks.
Tapped into an accy circuit to trigger the relay. Just a standard automotive style relay.
Thanks. Should run fuse accessory wire to #30 pin on the relay?
ya use the proper set of crimpers. solder and shrink tube.
Thumbs up for cursing the mouse :-)
Still haven't found the damn thing
Can U helpe to put a fuse box on my car I in Modesto cal
