See where it struggles, if it's during the cranking period you need to look at the cranking airflow tables, if it's after it lights off like this one then check your VE table on a SD tune. Thanks for the continued support!
Goat Rope Garage my 01 camaro is sd open loop and is rich like 12-13 afr until it warms up, then it’s 14.7 afr at operating temperature. It’s not the cranking it’s while it’s actually running. I tried adding 1.15 in to the open loop cold start tables, still not helping.didnt make a difference at all.
Your channel helped me maf tune my 5.3 swap on my c10 when it was stock, get the idle dialed when I pulled the trigger on the cam, and move on to SD tuning. Doing gods work for stubborn fucksticks like us that want to do everything ourselves 👍
In first part of video with MAF this is the same thing I found after tuning in modifications. I never tuned the lower MAF table! Now I always check through entire MAF when I tune. I don’t do steady state tuning, I do under load MAF tuning, looking at the MAF error on a steep acceleration curve, like full throttle, and for lower area on a less steep curve, like 30-40 percent pedal. You are the best and always showing the correct way to get things done. Thanks.
Awesome work mate. Watching all these videos as a novice down here in Australia. I've never even had a log in for youtube and your channel is the one that made me pull the trigger so i could subscribe and not miss anything. Keep it up brother!!!
As a retired auto tech, I appreciate all of the content you have put out. I’m about to throw a bunch of parts including a supercharger at this 19’ 392 Challenger I just bought. Even though I am new to HP tuners I have learned a lot from you and plan to tune this myself. I keep waiting and hoping that a newer HEMI shows up in your shop. You do such a great job, treat yourself to something nice! (HEMI)
Really enjoyed the diag style of video! This is one area of my tune I always just put up with cause haven’t wanted to jack with it, nor knew exactly how to handle it the right way.
I had major cold start issues. I solved it bu reverting back to the stock tune parameters for my 6.0 liter L96 motor. I kept the tuning for the car when driving like my MAF and Speed density data. The car now starts just fine.....that is until I get the cam in. Then I will have to go through everything again.
Your intro was well said!! As with any market, it's ever changing and these "tooners" need to understand the fundamentals of Cost and Demand. It is a real thing that they need to incorporate, rather than do nothing and bitch and complain about pioneers like you. I'm glad to see how rapid your channel and business is becoming successful, especially because of your personality and model. There are MANY more opportunities left on the table and I hope to see you will be a part of!
My car run right when worm but start up took me 5 to 10min to run right. Start up pop pop too lean. I might need bigger injector. I'm using hts program
Damn I am in SW Florida. Not sure it goes below 50. lol. By the way I just subscribed. I plan to become a Patreon, download your HPtuners configs and pick your brain on an issue my tuner refuses to acknowledge.
I have found on several occasions, especially with the flex fuel vehicles that the alcohol content tends to creep, causing cold start issues. Extended crank and stumbling for a few moments. Logs always show a lean condition on startup. I have seen it at high as 45%. Just my 2 cents.
Real frustrating, i had a rpm signal issue, so i put a hall effect distributor in ,synced the timing withe the ecu at 0° . It runs fine & gets a rpm signal but now it is hard to start🙄 .
Kyle gen 3 SD btr cam here. After cam swap cold start is mint in the morning but run to the store and come back out 30 min later I have to open tb a little to get it to crank up. Any suggestions what to look?
Would this work for 1500 ram 5.7 I have same problem it starts jumps up high in rpm sets and runs rough untill it get warm and settles down. I’m afraid it’s causing damage or will cause problems when driving eventually
god dam competition, I was looking forward to spending money, looks like I'll have to become a patron lol I also have a question, I have 127lbs injectors, and on my ecm e67, the tables would be maxed out at around126, would I max the table out, and in the injectors pulse table, take the max divide it by my injectors lbs and use that number for the pulse table?
Are you running returnless or a full regulated return system? You're so close to the limit you're probably alright fucking the difference in your airflow tables
@@GoatRopeGarage I'm currently returnless, so as long as I max, the table out, put the value in the pulse table, and tune my air flow tables I should be on the right track?
@@jonwavy6242 shouldn't need to do the pulse table part, you're just correcting the fuel demand in your airflow tables. But if you're on the stock returnless you might need to do injector scaling as you're probably exceeding the flow rate table across the board after 58psi. Divide you injector flow rate in half then double your stoich table and it should work.
Great video! I have an issue. I went to my tuner for some adjustments and he made made a few adjustments, and now my car will not start in the morning unless I unplug the IAC. After it has started it will start with the IAC plugged in and it will work as advertised. I decided to order HP Tuner to fix it myself vs paying a bunch of money every time I need adjustments. What adjustment/ table will affect the IAC like that. Also, I tried a new IAC with no change.
I notice negative values on a modern diesel that is torque based I have been having issues when it changes maps it shifts weird before it does and has almost-5 degrees timing it’s only when it is cold I smoothed my Torque to fuel maps better but still off the other question I had was mono turbo mode what’s is that about
Hi Kyle, I been viewing your videos much more lately and I would say luck GM tuner to get all that great info, sure tuning is the same in general but as I been learning to tune Ford since a year now I lack much info, I already did LaSota course but still can't know much about spark timing and some datalog settings. Can we do few things together?
I’ve endlessly fought my e38 on start up, and warm up. I just can’t get this thing to act right. The p59 was easy. The Holley efi system is even easier. But this gen 4 ecu is killing me
how about big cam hot starts on the gen 4 cold starts is perfect, I have just been experimenting and finally got it good but be good to see what others do who have delt with the same problem
Ok so, brand new ls1 it only has a stock tune minus what you need to start. Just had the exhaust system installed, customer picked car up from shop and it started straight away he then promptly shut it off and now it won't start at all. Any suggestions would be fantastic, thank you!
Hey Kyle. Enjoy your channel! I have a stock 345 International Scout II with Sniper 2300 running a stock distributor with Pertronix Ignition. The system works great when its running, but my problem is getting it started. I have to cycle the key on and off three times to get it to light off. Once its started it runs great. I confirmed with another Scout II owner and he has to do the 3 cycling of the ignition too for it to work on his. I just ordered the USB to try to tune it from my laptop. Can I increase the pump shot for the cold start? If I use starting fluid or squirt gas down the sniper it fires right up. Won't on just the prime shot. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
@@GoatRopeGarage Awesome, thank you. Also, I really enjoy your method of delivery, live view of hptuners and explaining the steps chronologically as the video progresses. Should be good when my MPVI2 shows up

@@GoatRopeGarage OK awesome thank you, how would I go about checking if it false or not. Could it also be an octane issue, I didn't really notice it before this last yank of gas so I added some of that VP racing octane booster and it didn't really seem to help that much just slightly
Kyle if I have a SD tune what tables would you suggest I look at to resolve the same issues sir. Keep up the greatness - I’m OG :)

Gen 4 cold start Idle>Airflow>Startup. You have 0-8 sec you can add to the airflow to improve cold start & warm up.
Yeah, and if the fueling clears up sheet that period it gives you and idea of where the adjustments need to be made
