After the 0 to 100 tests, and actual times, I reckon the main boost from sport is when already moving and accelerating... the 80 to 100 response (and 5 to 50) was really noticeable
I have a Kakadu, can definitely feel the difference if you want a quick getaway from the traffic lights, but with the Kakadu the main difference is it stiffens up the suspension. Big difference between wallowing along in eco on a bumpy road and driving through some twisties in sport.
I just placed an order on the switch for my VX after seeing your video. I imagine it’s like the Toyota factory version of an Ultimate 9 Throttle Controller with just one level for each mode instead of 9. Apart from that, I recommend driving in manual mode whenever towing and holding it in 4th gear when cruising in a 100km/h zone and only charging to 5th down a hill/slope. Also fitment of a transmission cooler and an ‘Ultragauge’ (or the like) to get an accurate transmission temp readout 👍
Nice Chris … looking forward to it. I was very surprised just how hot the transmission got and also how quickly when towing my fully loaded 15ft hybrid van especially when the engine was really working (up hills etc.) I guess because of the normal constant slippage in the transmission. Have you had your whole setup weighed to determine if you’re above board? This is something I need to do soon for safety and peace of mind. I did get a 3.5T pre-rego GVM upgrade done on my VX though when I first bought it so I do have some fat in the system 🤘
It will, but it's not plug and play like the VX, you need to modify some wiring, I'm not sure what is involved, but the Prado Forums might have some diagrams
Hey mate just wondering what the speed limit sign is on the dash where the colour changes, is that something that can be added on settings Like a speed limit identifier?? Thanks
Hey mate, yeah, it will pull the local limit of signs as I pass them... great fun in school zones outside school hours, I had to turn off the audible "you are over the speed limit" notifications so my car stopped screaming at me at 5.30pm in an 80 zone and the car thinks its 40... as for adding in settings, I think it would depend on what year your car is... I've not seen anywhere on mine to turn it off though
I have ordered one through the link in description please could you tell whether it voids the Toyota Warranty? I have got 23 vx thanks and would really appreciate it.
Looking at getting one for my VX as well A smart move may be to take it out if you are getting the vehicle serviced by Toyota or making any warranty claim for gearbox or engine. If Toyota did not fit it they will claim incompatability, they are very hard on third party accessories like throttle controllers.
It should work on the 2020 model, if you have the updated 150kw engine (may work on the earlier 130kw, but not sure) there should be a link in the video description to amayama www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/8471160030
Thanks, glad you liked it, was a fun video to shoot! GXL needs a slight wiring modification from what I now understand, the cable is there, but needs something added...
For $90, why not! Be warned the delay on receiving the part is pretty long, my first order got cancelled due to the length of delay (same happened to Ian who loaned the part for the video). Worst case, gives you plenty of time to sort out the wiring change
Honestly, I can't say, might be worth popping the panel out and see if everything is there, just not sure it will fit the 2011 series, or work for that matter!
This video goes thru some details of the different driving modes, and seems like steering is stiffer in sports mode ruclips.net/video/SwpJjtD82Do/видео.html
@@10tenadventures ive decided to go with a superiorvision royalty throttle controller. On sale atm from $250 to $179. Gives alot more settings. How ever factory would have been nice
Fair enough, only issue there, as others asked about the factory unit, "what about warranty", hard for Toyota to claim a factory part voids your warranty, 3rd party though is a different matter. But end of the day, we all have a bucket load of 3rd party gear on our cars, so may be a moot point
Cost of the module, $83, the look on your face when you hit the sports mode...priceless. haha
A genuine look of surprise and happiness!
Was interesting watching it back again keeping an eye on the tacho/gear changes. Sport & norm 4k & eco 3.5k

Yeah, with no KDSS the suspension won't change, but the steering definitely firmed up in sport mode.

Same 3.5 GVM (Lovells maintains 3t towing allegedly) but weights video coming up soon too lol, with big reasons 😀
@@rich9903 what year ur vx is . Just wondering if it works on early 2020 vx models 130kw

@10tenadventures ok thanks for your advice 👍
Looks like a fun and easy upgrade to do in Vx! Do you still use from time to time or cant be bothered anymore?
Use it a lot when towing, and if overtaking on the freeway, it comes in handy
@10tenadventures is the sport mode from throttle control module same as shifting right in D?
No, it is a remap of the throttle response, holds gear changes longer, but still automatic shift through all gears

While I can't guarantee it, it is a genuine toyota part, they'd have trouble arguing it!

Fair comment, although the part here is a genuine toyota part. 3rd party controller, I'd pull out before servicing without question
