Thanks for this video, great to see the difference with TC on & off ! I have a 2010 Kakadu & it has rear diff lock standard which ive used a couple of times.
Great content once again. Great to learn about the prado. tip for videos - match audio between speaking/voice and music added .. otherwise need to adjust the levels all the time (wakes others or burst my ears in the headphones) 📢🎧
G'day Michael. In relation to your rear diff lock installation question, my thoughts are that it depends on how you currently use, or intend to use your vehicle. From what I have seen on your RUclips channel, you do some what I would regard as 'extreme' kind of driving so a diff lock would more than likely help and make the Prado even more capable. It would also probably prove it's worth when driving in similar extreme'ish driving conditions when towing your offroad caravan. The other (more than likely less palatable) option might be to upgrade the old girl to a newer Prado with diff locks fitted as standard. Apart from that, standard inclusion of a rear diff lock was one of my core requirements when I was purchasing my 4WD and I eventually settled on a new 2022 Prado which pretty much had everything I was looking for in a touring machine - which if course is reflected in the purchase price (i.e. 'Toyota Tax').
Great topic mate, I have a 2009 150 and am thinking about a rear locker, just to help out the t/c a bit. I think the t/c is a bit delayed whereas the locker is more direct 🤙🏽
I have a 2011 preface lift model. I’m going to install a genuine toyota locker off from a kakadu model. It needs some work to accomodate it. There are many videos of it being done in US on tacoma and other models. Have a look and see if you like it. If you can find a toyota locker, I’d say go for it.
Thanks, good video. About the late Prados and the front radar module preventing mods…I have 2022 GXL with Smartbar, plus winch (control box sits behind the grill out of the way, no problem), and have been advised regarding driving lights that a lightbar is no-go, but a pair of 7” driving lights is fine. So I don’t feel like the front radar is a drawback. As for rear locker, mine comes fitted with one as standard equipment, and I would say the advantage is minimal if you are not extremist. Now I have a question for you: you say to disengage traction control for sand, and I’m not so sure, so would you consider a video to demonstrate TC turned on vs turned off, in sand?
Thanks for the comments. What happens with the traction control on the sand, is that because the wheels are spinning and losing traction, the traction control wants to correct this by stopping that wheel, however in soft sand you want the wheels to be spinning and keep the momentum going. Having traction control on it will try and stop the wheels from losing traction. Therefore, you may find yourself getting bogged.
Hey mate, good video.. what do you think about changing fuel injectors?? I have a 2016 150 series with 270k kms, I see mixed answers, some say change them at 150k others say no need to unless they are playing up.. What's your take?
Hi I have the same thoughts on my prado 150 2013 I’m not sure if I need a locker or not but i watched a show that mad mat done on lockers and if you can only have one he’s leaning towards a front locker as it doesn’t tend to lift the front up as your going up hills . worth a look
Great demo of traction control, thanks. One thing - music level is too high, especially at the start when you are talking, making it hard to hear what you are saying, and just in general music level is much higher than your voice level.
Hey Michael, Darren here again mate I forgot to ask you what and where did you get the battery trays from for the itecworld 120ah lithium battery as the only ones I have been able to find were the 300mm long not the 330mm long which you need for the itech 120ah lithium battery
I did get my tray from EBAY but that was about 2 years ago, to fit the N70 AGM battery. So I've just used the same tray. I can not remember sorry what size it was. Sorry mate.
You need to use your centre lock or you’re wasting your time, you’re only just getting there with tc on, I twin locked mine and have only used the rear and centre lock with tc off at worst so far and that was in a mine track in WA, a 200 turned around and bailed. 😁
When you press this button, it starts you off in 2nd gear instead of 1st. Sometimes this helps when you're 4 wheeling to give a smoother less jerry start off, or stops it from going back to 1st gear in some situations
Hey Michael bloody good stuff mate lovin it, you certainly know how to motivate everyone
👍👍

No worries... Thanks mate 👍😁... Yep I'll work on that one.

Thanks mate. Yeah a new one would be nice. But I still like this one...😁👍👍

No worries mate. Thanks for the feedback. Yes it is a balancing act. 👍👍

What does 2nd start do on my prado

Excellent commentary on TC but can you ditch the music, it's not necessary.
