      It will, but it's not plug and play like the VX, you need to modify some wiring, I'm not sure what is involved, but the Prado Forums might have some diagrams

    Hey Chris. Didn’t see much of a tour of the outside of the van in this video (apart from your earlier video showcasing the disc brakes and airbag system). I assume that it also has external cooking facilities as well internal? Also, I thought the Nova sales manager mentioned that they were installing 400Ah lithiums and matching double the solar (i.e. at least 800W) in your van but unless I got it wrong, Jim mentioned it had 2 x 150Ah batteries which for a van with all those electrical connections & gear, to me seems a bit on the shy side of battery storage capacity.

    • @10tenadventures
      @10tenadventures Месяц назад

      Hi Rich, no external "built in" cooking facilities like a slide out kitchen, we have a gas bayonet near the BBQ slide at the front which we use with our Ziggy, and occasionally we use a portable induction cook top on the fold down table. Van has 300ah of batteries and 600w solar on the roof. Thus far no issues with power except for running the aircon too long off battery which we didn't see battery consumption correctly on the monitor... issue was the BMS wasn't configured quite right so didn't report the drop in % correctly. Easy fix, and now seems to regulate correctly, but haven't run the aircon on battery since (no need to) but have run the heater in the combo hot water/gas heater unit all day and night with no issues

    • @rich9903
      @rich9903 Месяц назад

      Fair enough Chris. I’d suggest that whilst you’re touring in the cooler months/regions and may not need your aircon, chances you’ll be wanting to give it the odd run if/when you head up the more northern areas. I lived at Lyndhurst down your way for a few years so I’m familiar with the weather down there. Looks like you might have space for some additional batteries under your bed to connect up with your current lithiums. Is this something you’re considering in the future? If so, I guess you’d might also be looking at increasing your solar input but you can achieve that with portable solar panels rather than fixed … just additional stuff to carry on board

  • @rich9903
    @rich9903 Месяц назад

    Hey Chris. Only just watched this video now. Can you provide a ballpark figure of what the caravan cost you in the end and also its ATM? Also, has it been wired to allow you to run your aircon off your batteries? I carried out this upgrade in my 15ft hybrid and it was a bit of an ordeal (and additional cost in required materials) but so worth it.

    • @10tenadventures
      @10tenadventures Месяц назад

      Hi Rich, I'll get some figures off the plate but we have roughly 550kgs of available payload and max of 2800kgs. I did do a full weigh in before we headed off on our mini lap, plan to do a short video on the weights and a 6 months ownership update, but haven't filmed anything just yet... probably a trip coming up in a few weeks, so watch this space 😀

      @rich9903 Месяц назад

      How much did the van cost you if upu don’t mind me asking Chris? My ‘22 hybrid cost me around $60K but I reckon I must’ve spent another $10K (??) or so bringing it up to current spec where its pretty sweet 😊

    • @10tenadventures
      @10tenadventures Месяц назад

      We paid 2022 prices, they've gone up considerably since then, so stating what we paid won't provide any real context, but it was more than $70k I can tell you that... a lot more 😆

    • @rich9903
      @rich9903 Месяц назад

      As a fully Aussie built van with lots of fruit, I’d expect it to cost well in excess of $100K right up there with Urban caravans (which have an aluminium chassis as I understand). Buying my Chinese hybrid and spec’ing it up (and simultaneously doing the same with my new VX Prado) has been a good learning experience for me anyway as my first van. I look forward to your future travel series

I will be doing a follow-up video with a subscriber and his RV Storage Solutions set compared to the OCAM Drawers in the future, a bit more expensive than the OCAM ones, but they look the goods.

For the third row of seats i individual stretch raped them and put board between them when i sta ked them on a shelf so the leather would not hopefully get damaged and labeled the plastic on on one of the seats for future reference of a weak spot that needed looming after Together with the original roof rack i am collectjng a lot of stuff for the original VX for future resale,taks up a lot of room I would not have been able to flllow the instructions for my draws either, they are just reminders for a reseller that has been trained, also i think better warranty if installed by reseller I really like mine, hope yours work out well for you

    Came back to this one for a rewatch, as are considering an MDC van. After we have done a few trips with out Prado 2023 VX and being rained out we are considering getting a small van. Something I thought I would never do. The model we are looking at is the Forte 9+ as are just looking to get of the ground with a little more room than say the Jaycar JPod. If you are still watching this thread, I have a few questions regarding the MDC The Forte 9+ is just wider than the model you have/had. -Did you use the Toyota factory mirrors for towing? Looks like you still have them on the car, but I suppose you could be using extensions. -With the rear door, can you still open it with a van hitched? I notice on the Facebook groups MDC problems with the Diesel heater and water system are common. Water systems always seem to be a problem in general among the people we know who tow. I notice KAON are making some new items for the Prado at this time, we are keeping a watch on them, but things like the side step water tanks may be a bit heavy for our standard suspension. My main problem with our Prado is dust getting in, especially on the rear door If you ever find an extinguisher bracket that works please add it to one of your videos. We have been looking but no solution so far. We may have to look into a transmission cooler as well, not sure for the van size we are getting. I notice you have your new van, a lot bigger than the MDC, I cant imagine trying to tow one that big. We have not towed before so a big learning curve if we get the van But we have to do a driveway upgrade to store the van as well and that will cost a small fortune. But I look forward to getting a small pod type van if we can.

      G'day Mark, a lot to unpack here, but here goes (feel free to hit me up on our FB page (link in bio), I can probably get a bit more in depth there): Currently, I'm using clip on extension mirrors (can't remember the brand), but am talking to MSA as they are doing replacement mirrors that allow for the 3d cameras in the mirrors on the VX and Kakadu models... hopefully a review on the cards in the not too distant future if they do release them with the rear door, no, not on the MDC, yes with the new van Our diesel heater died, but was replaced under warranty, although I think a lot of the issues people are seeing is due to old fuel (diesel turns to jelly after a while apparently, and gums up the pump) still not sure if we are going any Kaon gear at the moment, but I'd agree with you on the sidestep tanks, even with a GVM upgrade, you'd blow out your weights towing with them full (if you haven't watched my "this mistake cost me my car" video, please do, as it will help you with understanding weights as a standard GVM Prado and Fortuna are not worlds apart when putting accessories like bullbars etc. on) haven't had any dust issues to date, gets in the gap, but not into the cabin, the door seals are top notch in mine thus far, if towing in 4th per the owners manual, trans cooler seems to be unnecessary, the 3 week full time towing trip had no issue at all Van size... yes, the new van is a bit bigger (16 foot instead of 13, but it is lighter, and tows better than the MDC, and is much easier to live with day to day. The fold out bed and setup time with the MDC just got too painful for short stays, after our 3 week trip with the new Van, Karla and I both had the same conclusion... we would have gone nuts packing up and setting up the MDC every 1 to 2 days (oh, and the electric awning, it's a selling gimmick in hind sight, the full manual awning on the new van sets up as quickly as it takes for the motor to wind out the MDC awning, and drop the legs) as for the driveway, I really need to do a follow up video, we moved house to fit the new van (we were planning on moving anyway, but a "this mistake cost me my house" video could be a giggle) I hope that helps! Cheers, Chris

      100% correct, what there are, are localised dedicated channels that the app will allow you to see. These are open public channels monitored by emergency services, allowing you to contact them. Agree 100% with the service from MDC. Just sold my cruiser highside camper trailer and purchased a 13 foot hybrid Wander Series caravan. At the start i will say I'm happy with the new van, but not Wander Series customer service. Had a bad start, picked it up and got home to Exmouth to find the back wheel bearing and hub had completely destroyed itself, they left the split pin out and it self-tighten until it destroyed itself. OK, they did a good job in sending up from Perth to Exmouth their service guy, all fixed, great service there. But, that's where it ended, on my second camping trip, a few small issues. Broke 2 cupboard door hinges, another door latch fell off, hose to outdoor kitchen burst, fridge slide fell off, all easy fixes, but on the second last day, the water tank sprung a leak, no water for day and half. Even after photos and videos, easy to see leaking from seam, still didn't believe me, said I need to tow VAN back to Perth, 2600k round trip, plus accommodation for them for them look at it, will not even agree to send 2 door hinges, will not even agree to just send water back, no, want the hold van, they refuse to do anything. Have rewelded the tank myself, brough pack of 10 hinges for $25, will fix that. Moral of this story, DON'T BUY A WANDER SERIES CARAVAN.

    Hey mate just wondering what the speed limit sign is on the dash where the colour changes, is that something that can be added on settings Like a speed limit identifier?? Thanks

    • @10tenadventures
      @10tenadventures 6 месяцев назад

      Hey mate, yeah, it will pull the local limit of signs as I pass them... great fun in school zones outside school hours, I had to turn off the audible "you are over the speed limit" notifications so my car stopped screaming at me at 5.30pm in an 80 zone and the car thinks its 40... as for adding in settings, I think it would depend on what year your car is... I've not seen anywhere on mine to turn it off though

      Thanks! I believe so, but they do end up on back order often, I had to order mine twice! A few people have suggested that, since my Video on the install, they've become harder to get, bit more demand... I doubt I'm responsible though, more likely with the new model coming, they've reduced output

    • @10tenadventures
      @10tenadventures 7 месяцев назад

      Great question! I wondered myself if the lower cost would mean lower durability/quality... I still use it, often, and it's still in almost new condition! The cover is not faded or peeling... it's great! I am honestly a bit surprised, but definitely no complaints! Compared to the roll-out Kings awning I had on my old Hilux, it's chalk and cheese. No contest OCAM have absolutely nailed it. (If you watch my long term review video I did back in December, first thing I did was pull the awning out for a bit of shade 😎)

      Hi Ronnie, disappointing you seem to have had a less than expected experience. Difficult for me to comment on this, if I say my experience was different, I can be accused of being a shill or stooge, but honestly our minor warranty concerns have been addressed. If that changes, I will let people know. As much as we are on a journey with Nova at the moment, we are not paid by them, so I'm not tied down to saying "nice things". Obviously my very small social media presence may play a factor, but thus far, things have been great with the van, and after sales service. If this changes I won't hesitate to share it. My integrity is worth more than that. I apologise for the slow response, but I wanted to give you a serious and sincere response Cheers Chris

      It's been really good on the trip, we had an... incident... on the road yesterday (should be in an upcoming video as by some miracle Karla was filming scenery at the time) first check was tyres, and knew immediately that pressures hadn't changed, so they weren't the cause.
