I put these on my Model Y about a month ago now, and I LOVE the difference. It completely eliminates the blind spot on the drivers side 100%.
What are your thoughts on it? Alot of people say you rid the functionality of the dark mirroring effect of the standard windows? I dont care too much on that feature as i'm use to driving it on my regular sedan... is it worth it or do you still miss the dark mirroring at night??
My MY doesn't have dimmable side mirrors so I'm not missing anything. I do really like the wide angle when I drive. There is no blind spot at all... Thanks for watching!

I got these mirrors from SUMA Performance over a year ago. The driver side mirror is wider than the original model Y mirror-good visibility. On the passenger side mirror, I felt the model Y original mirror has better visibility, than the SUMA Performance one-not as wide as the original.
Great camera work and informative video. Looks like a great improvement over the stock mirrors. The only down side is the auto dimming feature that is lost with these aftermarket SUMA mirrors.
They claim that the anti-glare coating on the mirrors remove the need for auto dimming. I have not fully tested this feature yet. Time will tell. Thanks for watching!
Yes they work great, I have some on eBay for sale for $59 pair including shipping. Heated yes, but none have the auto-dimming feature of some of the new models (not a deal breaker). Keep the great videos coming.

Well presented. I have a 2018 Model 3 w/ auto dimming mirrors. I would change to the wide angle mirrors if that feature was available.

I don't physically have a tesla yet as my Blue Model Y LR with towing package is due in September.
I thought????? that you had the option is view both side view cameras and the rear camera on the screen anytime you want to on the bottom section of the display. I personally think that supplies more useful information than the all the map stuff as the actual rear view mirror was a major disappointment to me on the test drives that I took prior to placing my order.
Jim, loved your explanation and delivery of the wider angle mirrors. I thought it was clever using the vanity mirror side cameras and rearview mirror. Very clever.
Two questions for you. How much do these mirrors cost? And I think I read somewhere there was a way to eliminate the “RED” flashing blinking on the side cameras. Am I right about that.
The mirrors are pricy - $159 I think. As for the side camera flashing, I'm not personally aware. It is an issue at night. I filmed it in my lit garage but it was still quite noticeable. Thanks for watching!
It’s a royal pain to modify the early repeaters. You’d be better off buying the side repeaters from a wrecked car, just make sure they are the newer style.

What about the auto dimming functionality? I recall reading they won't work with these aftermarket replacements but perhaps they've improved them since.
These do not auto dim. I don't have auto dimming mirrors on my car to test the different. They claim they have an anti-glare coating that makes auto dimming no needed. Don't really know if that's the case. Since I couldn't test it, I didn't report on it. Good question.
I have had these mirrors on my model Y for almost a year, really like them. My model Y does have auto dimming feature which is missing from adding these mirrors. In my experience however, the wide angle field of view reduces the glare and I don’t miss the lack of auto dim feature like I thought I would.

How is the anti glare and hydrophobic property?
I haven't had a lot of time to test this yet. They don't appear to be super hydrophobic. Time will tell...
Do they dim at night like the stock mirrors?
They do not. Mine car didn’t have that feature so I couldn’t really test it.
Why not compare these to the little "glue" on mini-mirrors that cost $10 and try to do the same function?
That would be a decent comparison. The glue on ones would not have the ability to heat - which would be important for me. Thanks for watching!
