    I fixed my blind spot problem by buying a set of small rectangular blind spot mirrors which adhere to the outside mirrors. I placed these horizontally on the lower inside of the mirrors. These work great and can instantly see if there is something next to me. Approx. $4.99 at Autozone... Thanks for the video! Didn't know about the warning beep.

    Hey Chris, thanks for covering this tip! I do wish there was a light that comes on when a car is in your blind spot even if you aren't signaling to change into that lane. I haven't quite gotten used to looking at the screen before and while changing lanes even with FSD but I'm a newbie so time will fix that. Cheers and drive safely and automatically.

      I agreee. Mercedes does it best but tesla can add this with a software update

  • @thpq
    @thpq Год назад +8

    Tesla just needs to add something on the mirror , or some sort of after market product to get it on the mirror or inside the car near the mirrors. As you mentioned in the video. its tough to look at the screen in the car and the mirror. Tesla tried to create something new when the tech in place was already good, sort of like they did when they removed the parking sensors that were working fine , and now the car can't sense when it close to an object and about to hit it lol.

    It seems to me that it must be difficult to tell how far back a vehicle is in that little window, and also, how fast it is approaching. When my Lexus mirror light is not blinking, I'm confident that I have plenty of room to change lanes.

    Hi Chris, thanks for another great video! I already knew about all these features, yet I wanted to comment that, in my modest opinion, Tesla should have placed the turn signal camera view on the opposite side (right side) of the screen as your right hand grabbing the steering wheel tends to get in the way of you being able to see the image of the turn signal camera displayed, especially for those of us that have installed a base that allows us to swivel that display up and down as well as side to side…Maybe they’ll come up with an update that allows us to change the position where the turn signal camera is displayed…

    What Tesla is missing is a Rear Cross Traffic Warning - which makes no sense since the car has the hardware to make it happen. My wife’s 2017 Honda CR-V has it but my 2022 Model Y doesn’t. The Honda is much safer in a parking lot than the Tesla. When will Tesla add this feature with an OTA update? Without this feature, Tesla is NOT the safest car.

    • @PorkchopExpression
      @PorkchopExpression 2 года назад

      I don't think it does have the hardware, it can't sense far enough away. I really wish it did.

    • @EverydayChris
      @EverydayChris  2 года назад +4

      I agree completely. We need rear cross traffic alert. Why????

    • @gadgetperson5128
      @gadgetperson5128 2 года назад

      @@PorkchopExpression I and others have commented on the need for a RCTW system for Tesla and I have never heard that hardware was the reason why Tesla has not done it. If it is hardware, obviously they can upgrade the hardware and I still wonder why they have not. This is a serious design flaw - hardware or software - which diminishes the effectiveness of Tesla safety features.

    I test drove a model Y today. Maybe you get used to it, but I found this blind spot monitoring horrible and dangerous. It's almost as bad as the navigation. Nice vehicle, but for a 2023, they've gone backwards from some very simple tech just to be different.

    Thanks for the share UPPER! I sub’d and gave a 👍🏽 from the Brooklyn Zoo (Rest in Peace ✌🏽 Dirty Ba$tard & Biggie…..your music still rocks the boroughs!). I ordered a 2022 Model 3 LR on Feb 24th with a EDD window of 18 May - 15 Jun. Tesla sent me an update this past Saturday and the EDD window changed to 25 May - 08 Jun and I was PO’d!
    A Tesla rep called me out the blue o. Sunday and said the process was going along smoothly for me. I told her my window changed and she told me it happens a lot but she said I’m STILL in the “window” so things looks “good”. Karen (her name) went on to say I should be getting a VIN soon and my “race ship” should be here by the EOM……seeing is believing.

    An interesting diagram showing the correct mirror positions. My Model 3 is a Chinese built Right Hand Drive. The driver’s side mirror does not have sufficient adjustment to move it far enough out for that diagram to work. I thought it might be because the majority of Teslas are Left Hand Drive and they didn’t redesign the mirror parts, hence not enough adjustment. But No. I just tried setting up the mirrors sitting in the passenger seat and there isn’t enough lateral adjustment to suit there either. So I’ll call it poor design all round. I will ask at the service centre.
    I would like the blind spot warning to be there without needing to put the turn signal on. Maybe displayed in the HUD. Oh wait, there isn’t one. So maybe change the colour of the adjacent lane (not just a red line) to warn you it’s blocked (without the turn signal on)?

    I'm coming from a Bolt EUV Premier, which has normal blind spot warning in the side mirrors and also a front-facing camera that works with all the other cameras around the car to give you a 3D top-down video of your car and the surrounding area, (the Ionic 5 Limited has this, as well).. Fantastic for parking and pulling into your garage. It's called Surround Vision. On a car costing 2/3rds the Model Y LR I just bought. Super bummed this $60,000 car doesn't have common safety features, like cross-traffic alerting - like the Bolt has. I almost got creamed three times in my first few outings because of the lack of these features. I love everything else about the car, but... man, these two things were almost a deal-breaker. Somebody needs to get pissed at Elon and let him know about this. WTH does HE drive? Is he that out of touch in his entitlement and insane Republicanism?

    What an idiotic place to show blind spot. Hey your side mirror is to your side. Either look to the side and miss the blind spot . But if you really want to see blind spot look away from side mirror to the center screen and keep turn signal ON and then decide whetehr to change lane.
