Strange to me. DCC to a 3 pole motor. ? I have 30 ultra thin 5 pole CD drive motors, and both Hornby and Lima plastic drive cogs. ( Anyone interested) these work brilliantly, currently with DCC chips and stay alive's. all live within the ringfield motor shroud.

Dan there's something you missed. The axles should have a light oil added where the copper strip rubs. Its not just to reduce friction but more importantly it reduces the speed of oxidation between different metals. The same is especially true of hornby ringfield diecast chassis pickup. Cheers Gary

But make sure to use a conductive oil like EZlube or Powerlube if you do that.
      Cheers!

@Gerry Clough Thanks for your comment Gerry, but it's honestly not necessary. The shaft doesn't spin anywhere near fast enough to sustain an oil film like a plain bearing does, so contact is always made.

@@gs425 Fair enough. I'll keep using my EZlube just to be on the safe side.
      Thanks for explaining.

I do love the Mainline 56, it's such a really good model for its age with its 6 wheel drive bogie and how accurate it looks comparing it to other Mainline diesels like the Class 45 which is underpowered and poor most of the time. Its a bit of a chicken or egg situation when it comes to Mainline models like this because I can never tell if it was them or Dapol who made it first

Great video as always Dan, thanks for sharing John ps I know this is not relevant to this model but my mainline D100 Sherwood Forester makes a clicking sound on reverse, any suggestions, sorry to be a pain as I can't fathom it out, once again thank you John

Hi John. It maybe a cracked gear, i have had these cause this before. I have a mainline peak that i use as a spares donor so if you’d like, send it over and i’ll have a look. Also, thank you for your continued support, i read all your comments. Dan. 👍🏻
