A very fine review, thanks Mr Knight! My first Accurascale Deltic (DC, green livery) arrived just after Christmas. The first thing I noticed was that one of the couplers had fallen off and was loose in the box. The second thing I noted (fortunately) was the stern warning against using an older DC controller. I have an embarrassingly old controller which supports very fine 'crawling' with almost all my other locos. I also have a modern, medium-priced controller which I hadn't used much which I now use for the Deltic. Lacking an oval of track on my newly constructed baseboard, I ran the Deltic on a short Y-shaped test track. Its performance was very satisfying, whether 'crawling' or doing the slow to medium speeds possible on such limited track length. It handled the insulfrog points with no problems. (I do have an Australian model diesel which crawls without cogging at an almost imperceptible speed!) The appearance, quality and weight of the Deltic are very impressive and offer superb value for money which is not always the case today. Btw: at your age I wouldn't have had the skills or the resources to run my own YT channel, had they existed at the time - so well done! Cheers - Rob
The detai part loose in the box looks to be a guard iron, they are on the outer ends of the bogies infront of the wheels. I think I see a missing one on your model. The coupling you used in your test was obviously pushed up, and the other end would likely have worked fine. I wonder if the coupling
i also concidentally got an accurascale 37 recently because it was on discount, and I wanted to see what the buzz was about. Man... that thing has changed the standards I apply to model trains!
Thanks for watching! I've eyed up their Class 37 several times, but it's never been too high on my list of models to get. The odds of that changing may have shifted though!
I got one of the first ACC Deltics .....had nothing but problems with derailments on all curves 2,3,4 caused by the coupling. The coupling is crap and I received a upgrade from ACC but still didn't solve the problem.
@@jimperkins2446 that's interesting to note. At first I quite liked the coupling design, until it fell out and threw the model from the tracks. I'm surprised there were issues for you even on 4th radius, anything should run easy on that!
@jackstrains4468 thanks for watching and subbing, it's greatly appreciated! A 66 is on my list to get eventually once all my current pre-orders have arrived, but I'll get round to it one day!
Thanks for watching! That Mole was motorised at one point before damp rented accommodation killed the motor. My shoulders might be a trick of the camera lens. Sam's lifted plenty more heavy Accurascale locos than I have!
I seem to remember Sam reviewing this? He had the same loose bit in the box, I think it's come off the front coupling and is supposed to help it stay up off the track?
Thanks for watching! Pause the video at 01:26 and have a read of the notice. Its to do with impure transformation of mains AC to low voltage DC by older controllers. My dad has a H&M Duette controller which is older than they advise running these engines with.
Great review, enjoyed the presentation, good work. ...Drew
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
After a long wait I have received the same model from Accurascale, it is so awesome and well made.
A very fine review, thanks Mr Knight!

Thanks for watching! Glad you were as equally pleased with your Celtic as I was with the one I looked at!
The coupling was bent upward. The can be clearly seen when compared with the coupling at the other end of the loco

That piece that dropped off fits on the front bogie there is 2 on each end.
Try a Cl66 Accruscale
Love the deltics, great locos - you should try accurascales 66, they are truly amazing! I subbed btw, hope this helps!

I like your 'Mole' and you have bigger shoulders than Sam !

Why can't it be used on older dc controller's.

Took both my couplings off and fitted all accessories i only run a TMD no wagons or coaches looks brilliant!!!!!!
Hi sorry I don't like it.
Thanks for watching! That's fine, each to their own. What kind of engines take your fancy?
