Damn, at the beginning of the clip, when Harvey Dent got into the car, u can see the driver is the same accomplice of the Joker who crashed the party before. You can also see in the face of the girl who opened the door for Dent, that she is betraying him. Didnt notice this till now.
I love how darkly comedic this scene is. You can tell they were truly shocked that Heath started clapping and he was clapping harder than everyone else.
Heath Ledger’s demeanor while he’s sitting there is perfect. Almost like the kid in class who always gets in trouble and the teacher tells him to leave the room or something
Jim Gordon is such an underrated character. He’s just as clever and resourceful as Batman, just less theatrical. It’s no wonder Batman views Gordon with such respect
The 90s lad they’re two different Jokers tho and as good as Heath’s joker is, Joaquin’s joker is more realistic he shares psychological traits with serial killers and mass shooters, and Joaquin’s joker isn’t far off from Heath’s considering that entire movie ( 2019 Joker ) is a sick joke he’s playing on the audience to make them feel sympathy for him being what he is
The fact that great actors have said they don’t want to play the Joker after Heath Ledger’s performance speaks volumes. He did an amazing job, and really delivered one of the most iconic villians to date. I’m surprised Leto dared to try, and I think his worst fears were realized as soon as the movie got released. Phoenix did a great job as Arthur Fleck, but it felt like a different Joker, even after he embraced the madness. A much better Joker than Leto’s, but he’s just not the same as Ledger’s Joker.
There’s a different shot of him clapping that’s in the trailer, and I always wondered if he’s improvising in the shot that’s in the movie or in the shot that was in the trailer- or another altogether even. Regardless, it’s a great moment, and the fact that it was improvised is sick.
YHG did they specifically say that the shot that made it into the movie was improvised or the concept of The Joker clapping in general? I’m genuinely asking because I’m interested to know whether the shot we see was improvised or if it was other shots of him clapping, which we know do exist from the trailer and prove that they reshot the scene after he improvised it, regardless of which of the shots was improvised
The theory that this version of the Joker is a war veteran falls apart here. I like to think that he was just a regular man and one day he just snapped and became the Joker. The reason why he’s been so successful is not because of his training, but because he NEVER hesitates.
But since its set in the Nolan Verse which was made to have some realism to it. How can there be literally 0 trace of his identity? Especially with how he manages to evade and trick law enforcement, his miticulous planning and weapons handling? No regular guy could do all of that. He has to be ex military.
No military has such an inclination towards drama and effect like the Joker. That endangers the mission. It is his big weakness, the reason why he symphatizes with Batman and later Twoface on a "professional" level and regards them as on par with himself. No, the Joker probably was a professional show magician, not unlike Bale in Prestigio. Btw no military has a trick knife worked into his boot like he has, or hides behind his own men like he did in the Wayne apartment scene. He is a bad shooter, and never actively punches or kicks someone the entire movie like a trained professional would. He fights like someone who lived on the street.
@@mariusraab9076 Fair points about his fighting and weapons handling. But he is insane after all, he probably sees Batman and Two face as individuals who are as crazy as he is,and thats why he appeals to them. Still not convinced that explains his ability to plan and evade as well as he does. Blending in with the rifle drills when he was about to assassinate the mayor I think it was? Resisting interrogation. And still no identity that not even the Batcompouter could find.
abuse during his formative years no doubt, mother/father/siblings...then @school, @park abused by bullies, on the rood, streets, abused by low life scum. all these events gradually increasing his insanity levels over time. then something big must have gone down which turned his psychosis to max levels. then he starts to mix with thugs, robbers, gets a gang together, every one a pro in some field, and makes them double cross each other. then at the end, collects all the booty and begins his next plan. But first, he does one or two or more evil things , some murders, some robberies, arson, destruction which brings his talent to front and center. he catches the eyes of the batman who just ignores him like he is one more foul mouthed faced creature. This don't go down well with joker. He then , like godfather, arranges to gate crash a meeting by the mob bosses. master plan, he calls it. he wants to become the Capo dei capi or capo di tutti i capi . he wants to have the drug cartels under his belt. he wants to own the gotham underworld and bring about chaos, death , make every one suffer. so, at the meeting of mob bosses of the 5 families, barzini, tatalgia, cuneo, strachi and moe green in the kitchens of a restaurant , probably owned by that itialian mobster sal moroni . whosoever disagrees his fate is that of gambol, the black sophisticated gangster. again, money comes into play here. gambol puts a bounty on his head, 1 million for bringing him alive. that 1 million is loose change for joker, he would give 2 million just for couple of teens to take him to gambol. so, nobody can hurt him, he is their paymaster. after that it is just spur of the moment. if he wants to bomb, he bombs , he has got the money all right, he hit a bank in the first scene and killed all the share holders. he can buy anybody, including govt or police officers, who clandestinely allowed him to participate in the police drill to take out the captain. now, the military skills, planning and execution and shooting. he don't do this professionally, he crazy and his shooting reflects that, random shots here and there. basically, his goal in life is destruction. if he were ex CIA gone rouge, it would have displayed in his demeanor, take for example the shooting of the last bank robber who drove that bus, doesn't even look at him, just fires a few rounds, not even seeing where it is hit. if he was military, he would have shot him 1 bullet, right between the eyes, then go towards him, kick his gun away, then other things, like he bat mobil scenes where he fires that machine gun here and there , doesn't even keep the gun pointing forwards. he does have appear to be taken some steroids or chemical shit making him more resilient. and his insanity just gives him double the power, no thought or care about anything. thats just joker liked and wanted to do all the time.
Which is why his origin is multiple choice, some times he is a criminal who had an accident, others a salaryman who had a bad day, others a failed comedian and others he is the thing hiding in your closet, lol.
Another reason to believe he's an Iraqi war vet, probably Delta or beret, whom probably was MIA and the government blacklisted him (made his identity disappear)
@@dustinmiller4344 he has knowledge of demolition, weapons and tactical planning. And they couldn't ID him through fingerprints, dental or DNA. And he even gives a hint during the hospital scene with harvey, "or a truckload of soldiers is gonna blow up"
Joker has the upper hand. He has background info over everyone while his enemies don't know anything about him at all. Thats a huge advantage to have over your enemies.
The casting for this movie was some of the best I’ve ever seen in a movie. Gary Oldman kills it as Jim Gordon, Heath Ledger’s Joker is the GOAT, and Michael Caine’s Alfred is amazing. Tbh, Christian Bale does a fantastic job as Bruce Wayne, both in looks and attitude, and while his Batman is unique, it’s ultimately not the Batman we all know and love
There was a theory that he could be a war vet or a former CIA agent gone mad. This would explain why there's no record of him anywhere. Plausible deniability? It would be easier for whoever was in charge of handling the joker in the past that it would keep whatever missions they did from the public eye that could make the government look bad and those missions possibly turned him bitter and have had psychological effects on him that turned him into the Joker.
Personally I think his motive/origin is that he has no origin and is actually making fun of over the top super villain origin stories. It's all a joke to him, that's just what'd you expect from him tho, an origin story
He was soldier in the past before getting PTSD due to Iraq war and scar on his face is due to the torture by terrorist or events of war..and he didn't like the government corruptions and policy's( Government's treatment towards soldiers who are in warzone),Oppression by rich who dominated poor class) This traumatic events in the past led himself to turn into a insane Weaponary skilled Mastermind who just wanted chaos in the society and who wants every Major officials of the city (Mayor, police forces... especially the Rising masked vigilante and the new district attorney who just brought Dent act. ) to be destroyed before Starting his own empire ...( the thing with chaos is , it's fair 🃏🔥)
Joker probably was a military vet who’s unit was supposed to be sacrificed in a mission and the gov deleted all his info Would explain why he knows so much about handling different weapons, planning robberies and attacks, interrogation techniques etc
You can torture people with that pretty handily. The thrusting part can be used to pry off a person's fingernails and if the peeling blades are at least a little bit sharp they can peel the skin off a hand just as easily as a potato.
@@thedemogorgon1375 I tried to make it the "I torture people for a living" -joke but I thought it was a bit passé. I literally cut myself with that thing almost every week.
Everyone's talking about the Joker clapping, but I love when Gordon comes back home and how Barbara, while so mad he lied to her, was also happy that he was alive.
I think this version of the joker was probably former black ops in the military. No traceable evidence of his existence, had interrogation knowledge, fighting skills, etc.
That's the point. He represents chaos. In this movie every scene he's always in the middle of something. You don't see how he looks without makeup. You don't see how and where he make a plan. You don't see where he lived. He is always the one in control.Everyone else is passive.(even after when he get caught by Gordon) (except after batman start to use his sonar system to track him down)

Gage Taylor lol jared leto is not joker. He is just a fuqboi wannabe Clown Boy who was once tortured by the JOKER(maybe Ledger’s or Phoenix’s) and now has gone so delusional that he thinks he is joker
@@gagetaylor192 Cant agree like someone else said Juoquin Pheonix portrayed the joker, Heath Ledger WAS the Joker. no comparison. & jared leto is definitely not even a close comparison.
Theres a difference between someone who plays the role of the joker & someone who brings it to life. There would be no Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie without the 40 minutes of screen time it took for heath to Brings this legend to life.
nough-said.
1:39 Damn every small presence of heath is terrifying in the movie and how he depicts joker is impeccable..Rip legend☮
Damn, at the beginning of the clip, when Harvey Dent got into the car, u can see the driver is the same accomplice of the Joker who crashed the party before. You can also see in the face of the girl who opened the door for Dent, that she is betraying him.
Didnt notice this till now.
That is what makes him so dangerous. He is a nobody but a somebody
Love Heath, but damn Oldman shouldered a lot of the trilogy, man was so transformative and invested that you kind of forget he's there ♥️
He played a damn good Gordon all the main characters in the Nolan trilogy were near perfect casts
No matter how much time we watch this.. never get bored !
Jim Gordon is such an underrated character. He’s just as clever and resourceful as Batman, just less theatrical. It’s no wonder Batman views Gordon with such respect
Heath ledger is the best joker ever, no matter what!!
Thats it..
@Lãng khách cô hành you cant honestly compare the two...for fucks sake
@@BopaBola nah this joker is definitely better than 2019 joker
The 90s lad they’re two different Jokers tho and as good as Heath’s joker is, Joaquin’s joker is more realistic he shares psychological traits with serial killers and mass shooters, and Joaquin’s joker isn’t far off from Heath’s considering that entire movie ( 2019 Joker ) is a sick joke he’s playing on the audience to make them feel sympathy for him being what he is
Agreed that Heath Ledger is the best Joker. Jack Nicholson is a photo finish 2nd place and Phoenix is 3rd. Fuck Letos Joket.
And critics of the time said he'd be a bad joker... happy I was too young to care at the time
@Flye critics? A lot of people didn’t like him as the joker at first. Up until he shut their mouths that is haha.
Yeah and Keaton was a bad choice ! NOT!
There’s a different shot of him clapping that’s in the trailer, and I always wondered if he’s improvising in the shot that’s in the movie or in the shot that was in the trailer- or another altogether even. Regardless, it’s a great moment, and the fact that it was improvised is sick.
I think it's improvised
Based on interviews, It is improvised. Genius
@@AnthonyHirsch it sounds to me that the actual shot we see was the original improv as that was the one that was made to feel the most real
YHG yeah gotcha. It would definitely make sense and would probably make the reactions of the actors around him even more realistic
The CIA theory still holds water. The fact that he has no record whatsoever makes one think the records were deleted/classified.
abuse during his formative years no doubt, mother/father/siblings...then @school, @park abused by bullies, on the rood, streets, abused by low life scum. all these events gradually increasing his insanity levels over time. then something big must have gone down which turned his psychosis to max levels. then he starts to mix with thugs, robbers, gets a gang together, every one a pro in some field, and makes them double cross each other. then at the end, collects all the booty and begins his next plan.
There’s few things as terrifying as an unfeeling villain with no known history. Makes him seem like some entity that spawned right out of chaos itself
Which is why his origin is multiple choice, some times he is a criminal who had an accident, others a salaryman who had a bad day, others a failed comedian and others he is the thing hiding in your closet, lol.
0:38 the way the cops are surrounding the cell like they just caught the pest that has been eating their livestock
When he started clapping though 😂😂😂😂
The proof that The Real Joker is Heath Legend.
Everyone knows except the characters in this movie.
Yeah he should be called Heath Legend 🤣🤣🤣👍
No more words just i love heath ledger
I like how when the inmate says "my insides hurt" Joker is like - "Oh shit , dont tell me you are gonna explode right now" XD .
1:45 How badass is it to be able to go home and tell your kid that you saved BATMAN'S life.
0:17 joker was planning to peel some potatoes...until he got caught
The way he claps, bruh even this is cool.
Another reason to believe he's an Iraqi war vet, probably Delta or beret, whom probably was MIA and the government blacklisted him (made his identity disappear)
What is/are the first reason/s?
ok how?
@@dustinmiller4344 he has knowledge of demolition, weapons and tactical planning. And they couldn't ID him through fingerprints, dental or DNA. And he even gives a hint during the hospital scene with harvey, "or a truckload of soldiers is gonna blow up"
The Joker is not an Iraqi War vet.
@@elijahvigil7467 well that may explain why he hates orders so much..
I just realised the extended zoom on Ramirez’ face, almost hinting at the fact that she ends up being corrupt.
I love how Heath improvised that clapping
0:10 for those that didn’t understand that’s when she sold out dent remember later on in the movie she said they had her moms hospital bills..
The Joker clapping always gets me he’s mocking them all because he knows he’s outsmarting all of them and has them in the palm of his hand
Joker has the upper hand. He has background info over everyone while his enemies don't know anything about him at all. Thats a huge advantage to have over your enemies.
The mad clap of joker👌🏻👌🏻. I miss the joker 😭😭
0:07 lmao that dude interviewing air behind the lady
Hey Mr. Air just one more question 😁😁
😂😂😂Good one Bro!!!
You cut at the best part mate :(
The casting for this movie was some of the best I’ve ever seen in a movie.
I miss you 2008
There was a theory that he could be a war vet or a former CIA agent gone mad.
He's really John Ryder from The Hitcher (1986) if he had survived.
1:16 When you helped your friend on exam and he gets higher score than you
I appreciate this movie more and more.
He was soldier in the past before getting PTSD due to Iraq war and scar on his face is due to the torture by terrorist or events of war..and he didn't like the government corruptions and policy's( Government's treatment towards soldiers who are in warzone),Oppression by rich who dominated poor class) This traumatic events in the past led himself to turn into a insane Weaponary skilled Mastermind who just wanted chaos in the society and who wants every Major officials of the city (Mayor, police forces... especially the Rising masked vigilante and the new district attorney who just brought Dent act. ) to be destroyed before Starting his own empire ...( the thing with chaos is , it's fair 🃏🔥)
when he has that blank stare, terrifying
Joker probably was a military vet who’s unit was supposed to be sacrificed in a mission and the gov deleted all his info
Would explain why he knows so much about handling different weapons, planning robberies and attacks, interrogation techniques etc
I’ve only just noticed that one of the Joker’s knives is a potato peeler. Yikes!
You can torture people with that pretty handily. The thrusting part can be used to pry off a person's fingernails and if the peeling blades are at least a little bit sharp they can peel the skin off a hand just as easily as a potato.
@@psevdhome I'm scared to ask how you know this
@@thedemogorgon1375 I eat a lot of potatoes...
@@psevdhome that makes sense
@@thedemogorgon1375 I tried to make it the "I torture people for a living" -joke but I thought it was a bit passé. I literally cut myself with that thing almost every week.
0:26 that dialogue right there splits this movie from a comic-book movie to a crime drama!
This movie is perfection!
The fact that Ledger improvised clapping like a murderous seal just makes his performance so much more chilling.
The Dark Knight Trilogy was the peak of the DC movies.
Everyone's talking about the Joker clapping, but I love when Gordon comes back home and how Barbara, while so mad he lied to her, was also happy that he was alive.
funny, how she never talked about blaming the batman , acting as if it never happened, i hate people
Just noticed the guy who drives Harvey away is the first Joker henchmen you see when Alfred opens the elevator and Joker crashes the party
He made the character immortal....🔥🔥
Something about Ledger's subtle dismissive look after the officer says "step away from the bars" always gets me. It's perfect
1:30 joker is In the back but just terryfing ! Insane
Joker's clapping was not scripted. Heath Ledger simply started clapping and Christopher Nolan told camera crew to put the camera on him as he does it.
1:39 I just love joker's face he's like "definitely do have anything to do with that"
me too, it is one of the best actings in the film.
*Gary Oldman plays Com. Gordon*
Joker: "Why not Sirius?"
Oldman talked to Ledger after this scene and say the way he looked as he clapped at him reminded him of "A Clockwork Orange"
I think this version of the joker was probably former black ops in the military. No traceable evidence of his existence, had interrogation knowledge, fighting skills, etc.
0:21 MY NAME, IS VICTOR REZNOV
Me: *gets promoted to commissioner.*
Joker: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Me: *IGHT, IMMA HEAD OUT*
of the country... 😐
That's the point.He represents chaos.
In this movie every scene he's always in the middle of something.
You don't see how he looks without makeup. You don't see how and where he make a plan. You don't see where he lived.
He is always the one in control.Everyone else is passive.(even after when he get caught by Gordon)
(except after batman start to use his sonar system to track him down)
Ledger was incredible as the antagonist, but goddamn Gary Oldman nailed it as Gordon
Damn... The color grading of this movie just so damn powerful at times. I mean look at 0:19, it looks like a painting!
I swear, the Joker clapping cracks me up single time
Love how the Joker is clapping 😂😂😂😂
