Can we talk about how solid Jackson's WOODWINDS are🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love how they are starting to to integrate their woodwinds. Their arrangements still need to fit them in with more musicality and fluidity versus just hearing them on top of the band. I like that they are showcasing woodwinds and not just bouncing brass blowing their brains out like most SWAC bands. The J-settes are🔥🔥🔥
Jackson State gave Southern a real deal Ju City beat down 😂😂😂
The Human Jukebox does *_SOOOO_* many things right (from the entrance to the Dolls to the Drum Major to the drills to the arrangements to the power to the Funk Factory, etc), I love seeing them get blown out. . .’cuz that means the other band had to be absolutely on POINT!
Round 1 went to Jackson & by a pretty decent margin - bad response tune by SU, weaker-than-expected & all the “extra” just looked like a gimmick to win the crowd instead of earning their applause. JState had the chance to send the Jukebox home right then & there, but they fumbled with _”Candy Rain”_ & opened the door for Southern to get back in it. Fortunately for them, SU fumbled it right back & that was all she wrote. I’ve never seen JState pulverize SU like this for a whole battle. Southern didn’t have the sound, the tunes, the arrangements, the power, the groove, nothing! Jags need to start Spring band camp RIGHT NOW! Cancel the rest of the season & everybody grab an Essential Elements book; page 1 - Bb concert scale🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

Southern’s achilles’ heel this year is EGO and lack of discipline. This could have been a battle for the ages… but it was definitely one sided. JSU really sound collegiate and polished.
That starts with leadership or lack thereof.

I don't agree I've only heard one section that tried to sound like jsu which was alcorn with all those split parts. Everybody else been doing their own thing. Jsu actually bit off other folks Style to get where they at. Go listen to Jsu tubas 2014 and on back they had a totally different style of play which was the original Dawg Team Style.

I really appreciate and enjoy your post…you guys are amazing, thank you. I respectfully say that although JSU wiped the floor with SU, the biases are so obvious for SU, (to be expected tho’). I was keenly listening for the execution of each song by both bands, but could not clearly hear the beginning of some songs due to some of the comments being made. Again, I enjoy your post and looking forward to you showcasing our HBCU bands in the future. Love DaBoom!!!

Southern definitely need to regroup after this season because I’ve never seen them catch a L like that before sheesh. Jackson been on a roll this season and hands down is the top band of the season 🫡
One thing about Law, even when you’re doing good, he’ll tell you where you’re wrong. I respect that.💯

Ahh...The Su Apologist! Whatever criteria, system, metrics, or mechanism he uses to critique bands must be returned for a full refund. There is no way on God's green earth that you can hear what we heard and determine there was only a three-point difference.
We know this is for entertainment purposes only, and it is subjective, but at least try to be fair - Shazam!
All of SUdden he was so tried for "this" particular podcast... And all those excuses were total BS... And he brought up another band's arrangement to make comparison to JSUs arrangement... Keep in mind, the battle was between SU and JSU... He comes with the gimmicks where he feels they will fit for SU... He was upset and disappointed in SU and acted out this "I'm tried" scenario... Pathetic🤣
@dto1270 😂😂knowing him and oh girl they probably done quit the show after Jackson spanked Su bad like that. I can tell feelings were involved on the show cause they was all laughs and giggles pointing at Adro the show before but then all of a sudden they was looking sad. I don't think it should be that serious it's just band at the end of the day and it's not like they are the directors. Take your L and move on.

Its not a form of hate or anything it's just all fun and entertainment 💯 We give all the Bands nicknames and different things its just the uniqueness of the show. People don’t realize that Champions lose battles too. Don’t think Southern became a champion by winning every battle. Southern has loss many battles. Southern will always be #TheStandard for other HBCU band programs! Big ups to Thee Sonic Boom for the dub this season!
Jsu was obviously the better band
SUs sound has changed. Tubas not loud/missing notes, trumpets fucking up, their euphos not present like last year it sounds more upper brassy in general.
