I don’t think I have ever seen SU be made irrelevant in a stand battle (at their own house at that) by another band. That was a Jackson State Concert those folks paid to see.

It baffles me how surprised KB is. This has always been a neck to neck battle against SU and THE BOOM. However, he seems to think SU wins this most of the time. Brother, you are wrong. This is a 50/50 battle most of the time.

I hate to say it but I literally fast forward through SU parts just to see what JSU was gone play next and I’m a huge fan SU through and through but this was a massacre on sight.

I am a JSU alumna , but I cannot go without saying that I am very, very , extremely disappointed in Southern. They have the arrangements but didn’t execute. I am very proud of the BOOM cause they playing with their chest‼️

Kevan Johnson is a freaking genius. I get chills listening to these arrangements. I even remember the "Circle of Life" arrangement. I have listened to that arrangement over and over about 50 times. This guys pen game is superb🔥🔥🔥🔥

I don’t follow HBCU bands. But JSU got me hooked right now.
This year jsu reminds me of traditional 90s JSU when musicality was priority. Jsu never go away from this sytle of playing again. This is your sweet spot/pocket. U have power, blend, musicality, dynamic, tone, and articulstion. This allows you to be creative.

As an Alcorn SOD alumni I can’t express just how blown away and PROUD I am of J-State. They have absolutely changed the game, unseated SU from their lofty perch and represented Mississippi well! I will 100% make a trip to see them live next marching season!

I'm a Bama State Fan, I can't lie people gotta appreciate the musicianship of JSU this season. They haven't taking a loss yet. When you are a fan of music you gotta commend them for that. They Clearly showed they are head and shoulders above everybody this season. I love my Hornets, but I gotta tip my hat to JSU. Every band gave They best against them, and JSU took every battle. Just witnessed the passing of the torch to JSU! Southern got comfortable the past couple seasons and let the creativity go down the drain.
100% facts. Alumni has been warning them since the departure of Haymer and B, but the egos of the new staff has allowed them to fall off a cliff. What’s worst is TXSU as well as JSU will only continue to improve. So unless major changes/firing/hidings are done, it’s gonna get ugly for the “S”

JSU taking their foot off the pedal towards the end was mercy, or seen another way, like sending in the second stringers towards the end of a game cause it’s already a blowout. This was a DOMINATION of Southern that is not only rare but a bonafide triumph of 5th Q battles. Hats off to JSU.

I appreciate your honesty and your musical ear. I'm a SU fan for life, but I am not blind/deaf. My band will forever be the best in my heart, but we took an L on this one. Big ups to JSU. Y'all got it fair and square.

It was no where near surprising to hear how good the BOOM sounded. It was however surprising to see JUKE go out like that.
P.S. SU got to stop tryna go for points in garbage time. Those last couple songs don't hit the same knowing that you've been taking L's back to back to back to back....
As long as SU has a Taylor, Todd and Kenneth led staff, they’ll continue to decline. Simply put, JSU is simply playing, writing and directing at a higher level (right now). All the great SU directors of the past (From Doc to B) would’ve took this same SU band and brought out the beast in them. Those kids deserve better, and Taylor knows it man.

I get chills listening to those arrangements from JSU. They're on a different level this year. No one has been able to touch them this year. The SBOTS by far is the best band in all of HBCU's right now. When it comes to sound, musicality, arrangements and execution, the SBOTS is unmatched. I expected more from Southern since they requested this battle and did worse this time than the 1st.

For me I thought su was better the second time around however, it was not enough. Jsu won.
Tbh they been had these arrangements since 2017 they have the instrumentation now
@@mefool8575Damn near started off in ‘15 with a couple songs like No Role Modelz and Pipe It Up type arrangements, then got better in ‘16 when we played Kiss From a Rose, Gangsta, Father Stretch, etc. and from then on, them boys been on FIRE recreating this monster into Little’s vision.
