FINALLY A VIDEO THATS EASY TO FOLLOW!!! Thank you so much for this video it has been the only one I’ve seen that’s clear and shows every step and answers potential common questions ❤
Hello pretty lady! This video is exactly on spot for me! I've been looking for an invisible zipper foot for a week and now I feel confident about using a regular zipper foot. I'm going to try it on a not so special pillow first because I have some beautiful upholstery material that my mom had stored and I don't want to mess it up. My sister and I found it, cleaning out the house to sell, as both my parents have passed. There's enough material for us both to get one pillow. Thank you for sharing your talent and experience in such a simple way for a beginner like me to understand. 😊❤
Thank you for sharing I sew as well so I can confirm that it is very well demonstrated. Blessings Viewing from the French island St Martin in the Caribbean.
great video, very helpful. Thank you The only thing I would add is "sew press, sew press" meaning that all of those seams should've been set by pressing the seams either open or to the side before turning the pillow over. Can even use a tailor's tool to press the points of the corners too.
Thank You So Much for sharing this video. I've always wondered where, exactly, (on the zipper) you are supposed to sew a zipper on. I appreciate your help and advice.
I don't finish the edges of this pillow because all the raw edges are inside. If I wash the cover I close the zipper so the seam allowances won't fray.
@@HeatherHandmade Generally all sewing machines have a free arm used to sew tubular items such as trouser legs, cuffs, sleeves. I do not think its necessary for this application. I just would like to be able to do the material in one piece with an invisible zipper. I will be doing machine embroidery on the pillow cover and would like to have the zipper on the bottom edge of the pillow cover.
You can have one piece of fabric but make the "fold" be one of the sides. Like make the pillow have no seam along the top, two side seams, and then the zipper along the bottom. Does that make sense?
After doing a little bit of research, my guess is you have a concealed zipper or a child locked zipper? Try this: www.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/comments/j83adg/what_is_this_weird_locked_zipper_i_tried_to_unzip/
I thought you should always make your pillow cover a little smaller then the actual pillow so you have a nice plump pillow. You cut fabric 20-inch for an 8-inch pillow but only sold 1/2 inch on each side equaling a 19-inch pillow cover for an 18 inch square pillow
You can do a 18 x 18 inch pillow form for an understuffed look or a 20 x 20 inch pillow form for an overstuffed look. The pillow ends up being about 19 x 19 inches when finished.
No zipper foot and no invisible zipper foot was used here. Dear novices...this is a novice way. You should also serge the edges of a fabric that frays like this.
This has to be the most direct and clear video on how to make a pillow I've seen yet! Thank you!!
you're welcome!
Very well demonstrated. Clear concise and very well filmed. Thankyou. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you very much!
Your explanation is the best! Thanks for sharing, Heather!!

That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Very Helpful! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much!!

Thanks for the video!!! Do you recommend any termination all around to avoid lose thread?

Thank you!
Thank You for your help. Can I use the same technique using a square pillow form?
Yes, absolutely
Is there a way to use this tutorial for one piece of fabric, invisible zipper and the free arm of the machine?
What do you mean by free arm of the machine?
@@HeatherHandmade Generally all sewing machines have a free arm used to sew tubular items such as trouser legs, cuffs, sleeves. I do not think its necessary for this application. Excellent. Really helpful
Glad to hear it!
Great instructions! If your zipper is too long, can you just trim it to size?
Yes, you can! add some stitching to make a new zipper stop and just make sure you don't accidentally pull the zipper pull off!
I have a cushion with an inverted/ invisible zipper, how do I unzip it to wash the cover?

Sooo how did the plastic zipper teeth not melt tgether from the iron ?
The zipper can withstand the heat of the iron.
I thought you should always make your pillow cover a little smaller then the actual pillow so you have a nice plump pillow. You cut fabric 20-inch for an 8-inch pillow but only sold 1/2 inch on each side equaling a 19-inch pillow cover for an 18 inch square pillow
You can make it smaller if you want or buy a bigger pillow to make it fluffier!
Thanks a lot 😀
You're welcome 😊
Love this video. Question. It looks like you are ironing the zipper on the teeth. Is this correct? If so, will the teeth melt?
Yes you can iron on the zipper teeth. I have ironed over zipper teeth over 100 times and I've never seen the zipper teeth melt.
@@HeatherHandmade Thank you! I did iron it and it worked beautifully!
What zipper foot is used when stitching along zipper teeth? Is it a J?
Very nice
Thanks
Can you use 14” size invisible zipper?
You can. It will just create a smaller hole to put the pillow form through.
My pillow insert is 14x14
What size zipper are you putting in the 18x18 pillows?
I used an 18 inch zipper but you could go up to a 20 inch zipper
@@HeatherHandmade , thank you you've been very helpful
You are covering an 18 inch pillow, but cut your fabric 20 inches. Doesn't that make the pillow case too large?
There is a 1/2 inch seam allowance on each side which reduces the pillowcase by 1 inch. You'll get a pillowcase that is 18x18 or 19x19 in the end.
What's the dimension of the pillow form
Is it the same as the pillow case?
You can do a 18 x 18 inch pillow form for an understuffed look or a 20 x 20 inch pillow form for an overstuffed look. The pillow ends up being about 19 x 19 inches when finished.
Tmw when i left the zipper part for last....
you still might be able to do it. just switch some of the steps around!
@@HeatherHandmade i accomplished it!!! Not perfect but it works and no stuffing comes out so its a win! :) ty for the video

This video is designed for beginners so I wanted to keep it simple! Thanks for the great tip!
This did not need to be so complicated!! Way better videos out there : ( Total fail in my opinion!
