Then the guitarist- for whom I had great admiration- told me that I'm really good but that I had a big head. Slowed my groove for sure. Now when I see young players killin' it, I smile and cheer my ass off.
Most people don't know what it takes to get to that level of playing. Hours of practice. Not to mention breaking up with your girlfriend and getting in a car wreck etc...

So in the context of a multi-instrument orchestra, if you’re off tempo it should be relatively easy to tell with training. everyone else will struggle because of the lack of structure and rhythm.
