I had my mini twists in for 3 weeks, heavily moisturized the entire time and my takedown was amazing with very little hair coming out. Every hair I saw had that small white bulb on the end which is natural shedding. I sprayed my scalp with clove and rosemary water every other day, I made a clove cream pomade with various other herbs that I used every other day. What I would do is spray my scalp with my clove water, aloe gel on my twists, leave in conditioner, a homemade fenugreek oil I made, and then the cream pomade. In 3 weeks my hair is a bit longer and thickening up. I suffered a nasty hair setback when I fell into a depression and my hair locked up for a year. It took a few months to detangle and the damage took my once almost bra strap length hair to top shoulder and the thinning was wild. The crown of my hair was so short I could barely twist. Now the crown is long enough to touch the back of my head and I’m flourishing again!

Mini twists will be my next style! I see the length retention does wonders for anywho who rocks them!!! Also, the longest protective style I wore was Goddess Braids last year. Wore them for 9 weeks. My hair did grow a lot. However it was so unbelievably dry when I took it down. I got a nice trim and deep conditioned weekly which instantly soften up my hair again! Great content as always Isi!! 👏🏾👌🏾😊
I do small/medium braids (fine hair so I cannot do twists-tangling galore) but for me, lightly spritzing the hair versus fully submerging in water helped with the longevity of the style. I would gently squeeze a water based moisturizer mixed with a little bit of oil or grease into my hair. For me, the more I wet my hair, the frizzier it became and the more it began to loc. so I don’t wet mine often. I’d spray my scalp/perimeter and ends occasionally. I re-do maybe every 3-4 weeks. I just take one braid out at a time and rebraid it-I never take all of them out at once. When refreshing I just add a little oil and undo. No tangling or massive clumps of hair. For me, the more water used, the faster the hair will shrink/expand and loc over time. The less water, with more lubricating products (oil/grease) the longer the style lasted and the easier the takedown was. Also, even though most naturals don’t takedown dry, when you have so much shed hair stuck in one place and wet it, it all shrinks upon itself and creates knots one will have to cut out, hence just using an oil to get them out easier, then use water or conditioner to detangle after all the shed hair is out
I have completely stopped braiding, twists styling my hair. I wash, condition and comb weekly and pack it up. Moisturize mid week and my hair is thriving.
Gorgeous hair girl!! My go to protective style is crochet faux locs, and I usually leave them in for 3 months. I love the style because all of hair is tucked away and the older it gets, the better it looks (imo).😊😊

Isiiiiiii!!! So nice to see another video from you!!! Love since 2016 always 💗 Whenever I do a protective style with added hair, 2 months with scalp care was good for me. A regular mini (smedium) twist style would last 2-3 weeks before I wash my hair.
I just brushed mine out after 3 weeks, and it was literally matted at the base and was half locs 😭 for waiting 3 months to take your hair down, it looks good!
I had braids for 3 months with a touch up around the perimeter after a month in a half...do not recommend 3 months either 😅 I had to stop after a few hours and start again the next day because I began to rip the left side of my hair out... so once I regrouped I took my time on the right side now my right side is about an inch longer than the left side. Please take your time during take down ladies! The new growth was insane though 😂
If its one thing i know, its if you are going to do a protective style for a long period of time. make sure its a loose, simple, hair style with large parts.
Mini twists looked really good. I kept mini twists in a 2 months and same as you they were acting like they wanted to lock. Watched an entire series taking them down🤣 but the growth was so good. COME ON LENGTH!!!💚
Your hair is beautiful. Thanks for the thorough video. I left some micro braids in for over 3 months while I was in nursing school. I regretted it cuz it took forever to take down and the tangling was real! I also needed a trim really bad 😢
Appreciate the realness. My hair wants to lock too bad for twists of any size. Sticking with 3-5 day WNGs with ample gel to help separate hydrated and conditioned strands. Thanks again for the upload.
Thank you for inspiring my next hairstyle ❤ finger coils were my go to for my shorter hair, then twist for growth, but now I want length retention so I will be doing mini braids 🎉🎉🎉
I LOOOOOVE to see how happy your twists made you! I feel like that deep sigh before the takedown… that moment where you realize you gonna miss not having to do your hair. The natural girls’ constant war on the inside! 😂😅 I’m just saying… if you were to lock up, you’d have such a beautiful head of hair and most likely locs down to your low back in NO TIME!!! 😏

I love ur hair. It looks so healthy. Longest protective style for me? 7.5 years. Lol yeah the lengthly takedowns and twistings, had me lock my hair. Couldnt do it. I was too busy with school and work. Now, I dont spend as much time or money on products or maintenance. I save time and money, use natural products and keep it simple. Love ur vid. This is nice.
I keep all my protective styles in between 6 to 8 weeks. Before each style I prep my hair with leave in Conditioner, and oils. When I wash my hair before and after taking out protective styles I always deep condition. I never have matting or any breakage or excessive shedding. I take care of my hair even when in a protective style
I had starter locs for 7months before I combed them out. I had bad psoriasis on my headline and was just over IT but worth the growth 😂 thinking about doing it again
Back in the day, I would rock a style for three months. I would take it down and it wouldn’t be too bad with the shedding or breakage. This was before I know what I know now after my natural hair care journey, and there are so many more products out there to help with detangling!
I just took down 3 month mini twists. It went well. I put on coconut oil and it's under a cap. I don't think i lost that much hair. I'm going to do it again
I’ve tried leaving my mini twists in for three months but took em out at 2 months cuz they were staring to loc. I love mini twists but for some reason they take longer to do than they used to. It used to take me between 5-7 hours, now it takes me 2-3 days 😂🤦🏽♀️. The take down is the easy part if I don’t leave them in too long, but the new growth is crazy every time. That’s why I keep coming back to em 🎉
Saw the video, read the comments...... Not me currently taking down my 5 months old mini twist and one of her mini twist makes about 5 to 6 of mines. My roots are matted a bit which is always the case (I tend to keep my twist in for 6-8 months) but all I do is soak my twist with water, untwist them and soak with water again which will automatically loosen the coil and then I finger detangle then soak again with water the pass the comb through it to remove any shed hair I missed. I do my own hair, takes hours to comb and hours to take down which I hate but have a hair goal length so I soldier through it.
This was a good video. I have left crochet braids in my hair for over three months and the breakage was more than expected. I used the African Pride pre shampoo cream with Aloe Vera to detangle my hair and it works pretty good. I said I will never leave crochet braids in my hair that long ever again! So I can relate to what happened with your hair but in a different way. Thanks so much for the tips on the hja9r steamer.

my longest protective style was for a year in head wraps . lol when i saw i should be covering my head but i misinterpreted for prayer and prophecying for all the time. lol. well i mean i talk to God all the time so i thought i was praying...... but yah a year my hair grew about 6 inches with 3 to 4 trims :D
I have had them in for about two months....I think 🤔. I usually wash my hair while in mini twists and then I moisture, detangle and retwist each twist. I retwist 1/3 each day. It takes hours but it is worth it. The growth is insane. I will do a full head take down soon. Thanks for the tip on using the steamer to help take down the twists!!
I find that taking down twists on dry hair is better. When its wet it feel like it breaks more and is faster to know. At least finger comb out while its dry to get rid of the matting.
my longest protective style was the time i got micro braids from early june, to the last week in December 😭 i was ready to take them out after like 4 months... but i was dreading the take out so much that i left it in for 2 more months.

I keep my faux locs in for just about 6 months every time i get them done and its literally the best thing for my hair
Those broke my hair off so bad 😞 I love em but I am still traumatized that I will only do crochet faux locs.
Also, even though most naturals don’t takedown dry, when you have so much shed hair stuck in one place and wet it, it all shrinks upon itself and creates knots one will have to cut out, hence just using an oil to get them out easier, then use water or conditioner to detangle after all the shed hair is out
You absolutely eat every style up every time Isi. I feel that you would also look soooo bomb with locs! Would you ever loc your hair?
I have completely stopped braiding, twists styling my hair. I wash, condition and comb weekly and pack it up. Moisturize mid week and my hair is thriving.
The patience >>
Gorgeous hair girl!! My go to protective style is crochet faux locs, and I usually leave them in for 3 months. I love the style because all of hair is tucked away and the older it gets, the better it looks (imo).😊😊
Do you cornrow your hair before installing the crotchet faux locs or do the individual braids method?
I love watching your hair content. Give us more!!!!!❤❤❤
Im so glad i ran into this video bc this is my current situation. I have 3B hair. Very fine and wavy. Hopefully this process is not too bad. Im definitely ordering a hair steamer before i start. Thank you sis! You're absolutely funny and adorable! So relatable abd down to earth. Love your videos 😂😊❤
I'm loving the editing 😊
Isiiiiiii!!! So nice to see another video from you!!! Love since 2016 always 💗
Whenever I do a protective style with added hair, 2 months with scalp care was good for me. A regular mini (smedium) twist style would last 2-3 weeks before I wash my hair.
The longest protective style I had was this one, I left it in for two months! I loved it && i’ll be redoing it this week 🎉 14:13
I just brushed mine out after 3 weeks, and it was literally matted at the base and was half locs 😭 for waiting 3 months to take your hair down, it looks good!
I felt you when you saw that acquired length! I act the same way when I see my hair growth.❤️❤️❤️
I leave in the protective style for 2 months max with washing it in between and touching it up in between. It’s soo good.
Thanks again for the upload.
been waiting for this! ❤
Ive had box braids stay in my hair for 6 months after i moved to the UK.The growth was CRAZY
End of November to the end of march is the longest protective style I had, versatile kinky straight sew in
Thank you for inspiring my next hairstyle ❤ finger coils were my go to for my shorter hair, then twist for growth, but now I want length retention so I will be doing mini braids 🎉🎉🎉
Just motivated me to convert my medium twists to smedium twists. Took a couple hours so rip sleep but should be worth it.
Been waiting for the takedown video. Love mini twists.
I LOOOOOVE to see how happy your twists made you! I feel like that deep sigh before the takedown… that moment where you realize you gonna miss not having to do your hair. The natural girls’ constant war on the inside! 😂😅
I’m just saying… if you were to lock up, you’d have such a beautiful head of hair and most likely locs down to your low back in NO TIME!!! 😏
Your air texture is so bouncy and beautiful omg!!!
Finally I've been waiting for these ...my favorite type of videos ❤❤...missed your new content on hair
You are my new bestie!! Love your personality. Your hair is gorgeous. I'm mini twisting today. Lord give me strength. I got long hair but I don't care!❤😂😂
What's the name of the hair steamer you are using?! I love it!!!! Nice video!!!
Your hair definitely looks more dense❤
Gurl that new growth is beautiful and calling me to retwist or retie it lolll just come on over to the loc side😍😍
I just took down 3 month mini twists. It went well. I put on coconut oil and it's under a cap. I don't think i lost that much hair. I'm going to do it again
I love seeing your growth! We have similar texture so you’re definitely my hair goals.
Lol the way I got so happy at that length check! Girl you betta inspire us😂💕
I feel this pain deep in my soul! I am so sorry. I learned the hard way too. Medium twists forever.
You have such beautiful hair😍💕✨
Saw the video, read the comments...... Not me currently taking down my 5 months old mini twist and one of her mini twist makes about 5 to 6 of mines. My roots are matted a bit which is always the case (I tend to keep my twist in for 6-8 months) but all I do is soak my twist with water, untwist them and soak with water again which will automatically loosen the coil and then I finger detangle then soak again with water the pass the comb through it to remove any shed hair I missed. I do my own hair, takes hours to comb and hours to take down which I hate but have a hair goal length so I soldier through it.
Thanks for the steaming tip ...I will try that next. Your hair has grown a lot thanks for sharing!
I love watching your wash day videos ❤I’ve learned so much on how to take care of my type 4 hair because of you so thank you 😊
This was a good video.
This is crazy! I was literally thinking about you last night (but I did not remember your name 😅) and then today you just popped up in my recommended. glad to see you’re doing well!
The longest is 2 months never again. Amazing content ❤
I went off to college and my hair was transitioning. Got box braids and left them in for 4 months. Went to the salon and she was able to cut off the rest of the relaxer. We were all worried about my hair but it was actually thick and healthy
Isi sis, come through with the contraptions! My Amazon cart just got happier!
I just refreshed my twist. I had them in for a month. Pushing for another week, cuzz honeyy the weather is not weathering. 😭
Yaa…another video from Isi 🥰❤️
Girl we missed you! Would love to see you back on here more ❤️
Yes! I got mini twists... to start my locs lol. Loved it!
my longest protective style was for a year in head wraps . lol when i saw i should be covering my head but i misinterpreted for prayer and prophecying for all the time. lol. well i mean i talk to God all the time so i thought i was praying...... but yah a year my hair grew about 6 inches with 3 to 4 trims :D
At least finger comb out while its dry to get rid of the matting.
finally , a wash vlog🥹
I think you will look really nice with locs
Thank you for this detailed video. ❤ You and your hair are gorgeous 😊
my longest protective style was the time i got micro braids from early june, to the last week in December 😭 i was ready to take them out after like 4 months... but i was dreading the take out so much that i left it in for 2 more months.
This why l do mini braids instead of mini twist. l had mini twist just 2 months and l experience a lot of breakage when l took it out so l decided to switch to mini braids and it works best for me. Even though l do experience bit of breakage, it’s not as compared to when l had mini twist on.
I definitely needed to see this last week... I still haven't been able to fully detangle my hair. Left my hair in too long 🤦🏾😭
its the fact shell say dont do something and then boom she waiting half a year to take down her hairrr lolll
I’m about to be on year 5 of my protective style of locs 😎 come July. Loctician here and I’m LOVING it! 🥰
girl... congrats on starting your loc journey
Wow now that method is so smart thank you !❤
You are hilarious 😂 😃 😄 you need your own tv show😂😂😂
love the quality of your videos :)
with a major protective style (braids, crochet anything, etc.) ngl i be pushing it two to three months as well 😭 but, i try to upkeep with moisture. on the day to day, I keep cornrows and what not, for two weeks max.
