Moms on sets have been notorious for being a nightmare as their own dream for stardom is being channeled through their child. So very refreshing to see the opposite occurred here. No wonder Kami turned out so wonderful.
Dear Kami, I think just about everyone watching would say how much they fell in love with your Mom. First, she has beautiful large warm eyes (you can feel her courage and no-nonsense approach to life) 😍Second, her openness and genuineness are like a breath of fresh air Third, You are so lucky to have her and she is lucky to have you and your brother. Lastly, I can't thank you enough for this interview enriched with priceless family footage that invited us - your family of fans through a seemingly simple, relatable (despite your celebrity) spectacular journey. Made me miss my Mom as she died in 2017, and reminded me of how much I love my Mom still that much more. Thank you. ❤💛❤
Kami you were so adorable on the show, you played the best youngest daughter on the Walton’s, I loved how John Walton, your dad and you had a great relationship. He looked to really loving you!
I feel the same way about John / Elizabeth. I think he adored her. When they were together it was always my favorite, like the foundling or any time they had a scene together. Also Jim Bob was my other favorite. I always look forward to 1972 episodes because they all were alive / Elizabeth was totally adorable. And her hair, omg was it really hers? Gorgeous!
*Kia ora (hello) Kami, thanks to your mum allowing herself to be interviewed and giving folks an insight into your childhood and how you and also your brother was raised. I thoroughly enjoyed these three episodes. Kia kaha (stay strong) and be well.... nz*
These interviews are just lovely, and so important for your family to have so many personal recollections recorded this way. As I've researched my own family's history, I now realize what an absolute treasure it is to have such first person stories to pass on to future generations; I wish I had this for my family. Your mom and you are both so interesting, perceptive, and gracious, and the questions you chose and the recollections they inspired are thoughtful, sensitive, and fascinating. Thank you very much for sharing these wonderful memories.
That little series was just lovely. Thank you for doing it. My parents went to high school with David’s parents in Texas, and Bunny took me to the set a few times when I was visiting in the summer. I thought it was very much a “family” atmosphere and felt very comfortable with everyone.
I’m 54, and I remember the Waltons being on TV at night when I was little, and I might have watched it, but I really don’t remember. I recently came across the show somehow, and OMG!! It’s so good! I can’t stop watching! I binge watch every day, and I’m on season six, episode 19, where Elizabeth had the accident that hurt her legs. I will watch the three movies after I finish watching the show, and then I will be so sad that I won’t have anymore Walton’s to watch. 😔I just think it’s so cool to be able to go on RUclips and see Elizabeth, Erin, Mary Ellen, and Mama, too, chatting together 50+ years later- I love it! 🥰 I’m going to binge watch your channel and Judy’s, to get all the details. I also bought Earl’s book, “Goodnight John Boy”, which looks like a great book. I haven’t read it yet, but I like that I can read about each episode. I’m so glad you’re here! 🥰 I love your interview with your mom!
Your Mama is brilliant! Her parenting skills are so on point for all children. Allow them to nurture their dreams, but keep them grounded. She is so level-headed and yet balanced in having you be successful in Hollywood, yet taught you the importance of education and life after the show. You experienced all sorts of success on and off-screen. Kudos to a GREAT Mom! Love these stories that she shares. Keep them coming. I’d love to hear how she navigated your teen years. We’re you like most girls and belligerent or defiant in any way?
What wonderful interview with your Mom. I enjoyed it! Barbara seems like a very sweet and nice lady. It makes me miss my Mom who passed away 38 years ago. We (my Mom and I) would watch The Waltons together back in the 70's.
Brilliant interview. Your Mum is lovely & did a brilliant job in raising you & Jeff, especially in show business. I liked how she did it so you didn’t get over tired at Disneyland.
Loved these interviews, Mrs. Cotler, your memories of Kami, Stage Staff, and Celebrities is incredible! I felt like you took me right there! Loved hearing about Michael Learned. Thank you!
Ticket books had A, B, C, D, and E tickets. The best rides took an E ticket. Younger people today don't know what we are talking about when we say something we really like is an "E ticket".
yes, I agree.... your Mom is so apparently true to form - I loved just listening to her - she just spoke straight from her heart, truth without pretense and with confidence and love for you. I absolutely loved this interview (all 3 of them) Im probably going to keep repeating myself because I am so affected by it. 💕💕
Kami, these interviews are wonderful! Your mother is a delight, and I know we all appreciate her doing these interviews. I do hope you have them saved so they can become part of your family history and memories!
Love these. Thank you, both, again! (No fbk but hope for more here.) Pappabob’s comment captured my sentiments. Yet I’ll add your Mom’s answer about The Firestorm & supporting diversely rich learning for children (for anyone) made me want to Cheer! I appreciate this even more by learning from your question you were allowed an education that wasn’t restricted to your mom’s/parents’ chosen beliefs. “Chosen” being the key to what you were supported to determine for yourself, through experiencing the diverse ideas and thought processes. Though without being given free reign to choose to “sass”, be condescending. Regarding trusting others & costs of living, etc., I think the population explosion that continued for decades past the 60’s has directly increased every negative, too -as expected. I think we need to actively, urgently revisit Zero Population Growth as a commitment regarding family size & openly discuss that responsibility for quality of life now & in the future. Life is better when not teeming with overpopulation of people (versus the rest of nature) & all of people’s needs competing desperately & aggressively with each other. There was more space, quiet, job security, higher pay to cost of living… &, I believe, better sense of commitment to community, to others, in the 60’s. We can improve on that now. But only by willingly stopping ourselves from overpopulating. (Thanks for allowing my free-thinking.)
Thanks for sharing your mom's story - behind the scenes And on screen - Love the home movies too - Kami you and your family are so Blessed ! to have experienced all of this - Thank you to Judy too
This was just great wish you had more of your mom answers questions I remember every Thursday night with my two older children and husband hurrying up with supper so we could be finished by 7:00 to watch The Walton's because they had betime at 8:00
Love your mom Kami, what a great lady!!! Love her name, Barbara. My mama’s name was Barbara also. She died of cancer when I was only seventeen. Such a long time ago and I still miss her. I have missed her all through my life, she was a wonderful mother, so loving, caring, affectionate and generous. There is no one one like your mother. I wish my mom was still here. You are so fortunate and blessed to still have your mom. ❤️
Elizabeth, & Jim Bob were the most relatable of the Waltons. Both could remain quiet, & unassuming, with storylines about them, that somehow bcame special They were their own person. & equally dependant on each other
Yes... One admission charge and you bought tickets . Walt wanted to make it affordable for everyone to go. So for senior citizens who really didn't want to go on the rides it was perfect to buy just an entry ticket. They had the ticket booklets with letters on them the e-tickets were the most expensive. So people would buy group ticket booklets maybe by extra e-tickets. There was also free rides that were brought to you by a company like general electric. Or delta... How fortunate that you live so close to disneyland. I lived close to Disney world in Florida and I also work there.. but I basically grew up there because part of the land that was sold to the Disney company was my uncle's farm.. so we got to go and free almost my whole childhood.
I loved this interview! It was so honest and candid. Man, I had so many more questions for your mom..it was so fun to hear all the little stories and her perspective. Thank you!
Kami, thank you for taking the time to help us understand how you have been able to understand the importance of a valuable real family and a valuable stage family. You have navigated life so much better than the majority of child actors. Your fans appreciate it more than you may ever know.
These 3 interviews with your Mom were really precious. I love how close the two of you appear to be and how comfortable with each other you are. What a wonderful gift for both of you to have this recorded so you can watch it over and over through the years and remember ❣️
@@dfirth224 In 1974 The ticket prices were: A: 10 Cents B: 25 Cents C: 40 Cents D: 70 Cents E: 85 Cents If you bought a book I think you would get a break on the tickets
I loved watching this. Your Mom was so honest with her answers and that is beautiful! You can tell she is very proud of you and your Brother. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Kami, I'm not a member of Facebook or Instagram so your postings here are awesome. We just met in Mayfield Kentucky at the murder mystery.......we still think his death was your fault 😂😂😂😂. Thanks for posting!!!! Please post more! BTW, we thought you and Eric were most entertaining!
Not a reader AT ALL but thanks to your mom I’m gonna give this author a go. Another great interview.💖 Thanks for all of your wonderful content. And that 50 yr cbs photo.😮 How amazing to be part of that.
Thank you Kami for doing these interviews !! I totally love your mother's "common sense" answers and how she "owns" her thinking and decisions without any question !!! I can totally see what led to all the "desirable" traits in your personality !! Your curiosity, common sense, desire to teach, friendly/natural demeanor. It's SO important to have a stable, happy, grounded, parent !!! In your case, with the added benefit of one also with a strong "work ethic" !! Enjoy !!! Just watched "The 45th Reunion" video and it provided me with the word to use here about your Mom that was eluding me earlier. That "perfect" word about her is her "WISDOM". It's so obvious and pure !! ;o)
For Disneyland, most people never had leftover E Tickets, as they were the ones needed for the most popular and thrilling rides. We had plenty of A - D tickets Once the individual tickets were done away with, people could go on their favorite rides all the time
Tell your mother that many people travel out of state to go there, so their kids sleep, cry, etc as they spent their few money that they had to travel and be able to go to Disney land, Most of us live far away, so we do not leave the parks when our kids get tired. We went to Disney once in our lives,. Most people can not go home to a local place, and they try to enjoy the few days or day that they have. Most people today, only make $12.00 an hour, people did not make the money paid to children stars back then either. In the 1980's minimum wage was 3.35 an hour. Tell, your mother she had a nice life, while others do not, and they try to spend the one day they probably got to spend it there, and then travel back home, they could have dumped off their kids with grand parents and had a good time, but they took the kids. Most people never learned about waiting until kids are older, and once they are older, they have the same tantrums and fits that small ones do. I wanted to see all of the park when I took my family in 2004, and I had a newborn and a 2 year old, and a double stroller for them to nap, a must need. like your mom said a place for the kids to rest. But I had teenagers and they got to ride rides but were greedy about themselves. we had a day in each park out of state. we stayed from when the park opened until it closed to enjoy it, because we knew we would never get to go again. I booked an advanced dinner with Shamu the killer whale and my daughter ran off in Sea World, we did not have cell phones back then, at least not us and the main stream public. I did not follow her and try to ruin the family vacation, so we wet to the Seymour the Sea lion show and watched it as a family, and we worked our way through every exhibit, and finally we worked out ways in the evening to the Killer whales swimming show and we had out dinner, and BOOM there is my missing runaway daughter happy to see us, she fell back into line and i never said a word to her, but I told her if she did that again, I would leave her and she could call the police to take her back to Tennessee. we had Discovery Cove where we swam with dolphins, Islands of Adventure, Universal, Tampa Bush Gardens and we feed the safari animals. and she never went missing again. I wanted to do things and see every exhibit as a family and she wanted to do what she wanted. she never left us again. We never got to go again, and now they are grown and live far away, we had one great family vacation and that was it, 5 amusement parks. Not everyone lives in the state and we had to see one park each day and the other days were for driving, we drove 18 hours to get there and then drove back once we were finished.
Hi Kami, Thank You for a very interesting interview with your mom. Question, did your mom or dad every worry that you would be around actors who's language could have been a little rough?
Kami, last Mother's Day a little girl read a poem about her mother at church. I distinctly remember a Walton's episode where Elizabeth read a poem about her mother in church. This was a special filmed in 1982. Question is was it you reading about your real mother or Elizabeth about Olivia? Both were so sweet.
Your Mother mentions she continued to work while you were on the show. She seems well educated. I'm curious to know, What was her profession ? I imagine she's a Doctor. She's very articulate.
So been watching all the movie's. Cannot remember the bit when drew told you he had been married for 6 months then divorced. My family were probably talking at the time lol But we had john curtis like forever and then he was gone replaced by carl and Sarah 😂 Then what happened to ben and cindys boy charlie 😮 Did noone monitor these things in scripts. Then the Baldwin sisters Got arrested for selling moonshine.never showed the outcome, and they said they had ran out of money so they would give mr godsey a cheque lol Next movie not a mention of this . And in the movie's the flowers grandpa planted were all gone. I think i notice more from watching the waltons utube programmes Nevertheless though I still loved everyone. But drew he was a bit of alright those eyes x
Kami - are you aware there are channels (all one person) out there showing thumbnails of you and other 'Walton' and many many actors shown as amputees and other disgusting depictments 'where are they now' thumb nails. The channels are under many different names - but mostly starting with 'Hollywood' such as Hollywood Celebrity Classic@HollywoodCelebrityClassi-hp4xc and Nostalga Hollywood 1960s and also Hollywood Celebrity Classics. I have reported them to You Tube, but they are not removing the channels or thumbnails - you have to do it as the person being shown as a fake clickbait and state legal proceedings if they remain. I suggest anyone you know also depicted come together as a joint decease action.
Moms on sets have been notorious for being a nightmare as their own dream for stardom is being channeled through their child. So very refreshing to see the opposite occurred here. No wonder Kami turned out so wonderful.
"I also had a lot of faith in your ability to maneuver through this world."..... Cheers to your mom. Thanks for letting us get to know her a bit.

I really appreciate these interviews! Your mom is such a neat lady!
She is a wonderful mother. She kept you grounded.
I've loved these 3 chats with your mum. She is adorable. I'm a big Walton's fan from UK. Xx💛
Quite a cute baby Kami. And you seemed smart, always.
Thank you, Kami.

Love your younger home movies

I enjoyed listening to your mom's accounts of your childhood! Thank you for sharing your sweet mom, Kami!!
Your mom was a beautiful mom.She seemed to be a typical mom anyone would love to have as a mom Kami.
Thanks Kami for continuing on
Brilliant interview.
Your Mum is lovely & did a brilliant job in raising you & Jeff, especially in show business.
I liked how she did it so you didn’t get over tired at Disneyland.

Your mom is great.
Kami's mom thanks for sharing your memories
WOW! Kami, your mom has met some of the most amazing incredible people. Natalie Wood, Rock Hudson, etc. So awesome. Your mom has a great smile!
I worked at Dland too back in the day….and as a kid in the 60s and early 70s recall it was about four bucks to get in, without a ticket book.
Ticket books had A, B, C, D, and E tickets. The best rides took an E ticket. Younger people today don't know what we are talking about when we say something we really like is an "E ticket".
I love that every time there is a "were you concerned..." question, your mom gets this look like "why would I be?" She's simply not a worrier.
Having a mom like her is what has helped make you, Kami, into the grounded adult you are today. Good fun interview. Mary
yes, I agree.... your Mom is so apparently true to form - I loved just listening to her - she just spoke straight from
her heart, truth without pretense and with confidence and love for you.
Population explosion is the real cause of global warming. But since the 1980s it has been forbidden to publicly discuss this.
Absolutely loved all the interviews and the precious home movies!
I really enjoyed this. Especially the parts where your mom talks about Michael Learned.❤
Thanks for sharing your mom's story - behind the scenes And on screen - Love the home movies too - Kami you and your family are so Blessed ! to have experienced all of this - Thank you to Judy too
You are so lucky to have such a wonderful mom! Thanks for sharing her with us. Huge Walton fan 😊
This was just great wish you had more of your mom answers questions I remember every Thursday night with my two older children and husband hurrying up with supper so we could be finished by 7:00 to watch The Walton's because they had betime at 8:00
Loved this!!!

Elizabeth, & Jim Bob were the most relatable of the Waltons.
Both could remain quiet, & unassuming, with storylines about them, that somehow bcame special
They were their own person.

The Waltons Love my favorite one fan Big Elizabeth Judy 💖💖💖💖💖⭐️⭐️🎶Cast Best
kami you remind me of my daughter the way your voice sounds. I love this interview with your mother so precious thank you.
Yes... One admission charge and you bought tickets . Walt wanted to make it affordable for everyone to go. So for senior citizens who really didn't want to go on the rides it was perfect to buy just an entry ticket. They had the ticket booklets with letters on them the e-tickets were the most expensive. 1974 Adult Entrance Ticket Price Disneyland $7.30 but then you had to buy tickets for the rides.
I forget how much ticket books cost. They had A, B, C, D, and E tickets. Best rides were always E tickets.
@@dfirth224 In 1974 The ticket prices were:
A: 10 Cents
B: 25 Cents
C: 40 Cents
D: 70 Cents
E: 85 Cents
If you bought a book I think you would get a break on the tickets
This was so kind and funny and honest. I love your mom. 😊
Such great memories and Videos ❤ Sweet interview with your Mom
Thanks kami
Tell Mom there’s a terrific miniseries called Apples Never Fall that is based on the novel. It’s airing on Peacock TV.

We now know the reason why you didn't end up like a lot of child actors.
Fabulous
Hi Kami, Thank You for a very interesting interview with your mom. Question, did your mom or dad every worry that you would be around actors who's language could have been a little rough?
1st Loved the stories.....your Mom is so sweet .... Loved the Walton's Growing up in the 70's .... they were my teen years
Kami, last Mother's Day a little girl read a poem about her mother at church. I distinctly remember a Walton's episode where Elizabeth read a poem about her mother in church. This was a special filmed in 1982. Question is was it you reading about your real mother or Elizabeth about Olivia? Both were so sweet.
I wrote that speech, and I was aiming to express what Elizabeth thought.
@@kami-cotler Last year a little girl read a speech about her mother on mother’s day in church(2023) I thought about Elizabeth in Mother’s Day Episode
Your Mother mentions she continued to work while you were on the show. She seems well educated. I'm curious to know, What was her profession ? I imagine she's a Doctor. She's very articulate.
She worked as a systems engineer and then marketing rep at IBM
@@kami-cotler Thank You.
More Mom!!
❤

Hi. From Germany 🇩🇪🗽💕🌹🥰
By "lifestyle" of Will Geer and Ellen Corby -- meaning lesbian / gay / or bi???
How to not handle the actors strike part 564
Gene Simmons from the band?? 😂
I wish your mom had been my mom.
Natalie Wood was my favorite
Looking at the photo of the moms.... All knitting or doing some craft.... So today's moms would be on their phones 🤷♀️ instead 🤔
Hi beautiful how you been
I didn't know that people were aware that Will and Ellen had a "lifestyle" that anyone knew of back then
