Kami Cotler, who played Elizabeth on The Waltons, sits at home and reminisces about the first Waltons episode aired.
UPDATE: Sorry that Part 2 is so tardy! COVID has kept me busy since I work in public education and my editor/camera operator/producer (daughter) is busy with her college work. If things ever calm down we will finish part 2.

This show was amazing. You could actually trust that they wouldn’t break their promise. I, like some of the other posters, do yearn for the older shows. They were genuine in my opinion. It really is bad that we have to forfeit quality family entertainment for the trash lauded as the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Kami is 2 weeks older than I am, but I remember thinking what a cute "little" girl she was. I enjoyed watching her grow up and was amazed at how intelligent and, frankly, beautiful she was in the later specials. What an accomplished lady she has become. She feels like a close, long-time friend. This video series warmed my heart!

That theme song added to a family controversy that we laugh about years later. Back in the days of one TV in the living room, my 3 brothers and I had agreed to watch The Waltons Thursday nights. Usually we were just finishing up our dessert after supper, and squabbling about who had to clean what in the kitchen. To mitigate this, my mom got us glasses in different colors, we weren't arguing over who had to wash which glass. Well, that night a lone yellow glass remained in the sink that no one would own up to. We were still sulking about it as we settled down on the floor as the opening theme played. I'm not sure who started it, but someone started singing the phrase, "A yello-ow glass, a yello-ow gla-a-ass..." over and over with the music at the one we were sure was the culprit. Whereupon, he leapt up, retrieved the glass and hurled it at the 3 of us in front of the TV, screaming, "No, no, no, no! It is NOT my yellow glass!" My mom had to ban any singing at that point, but we kept mouthing it when she wasn't looking. That's my memory of the opening credits song!

Thank you for all the years of wonderful entertainment.

People often felt it renewed the sense of family values. I remember that they felt it was important, that and *_Little House on the Prairie._*
